I notice that babies and pets don’t like the Halloween costumes – they look embarrassed as if they know something is not quite right and people are laughing, but they’re not sure why. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Am posting this now – late hour since I will be in meetings starting very early tomorrow morning. Would appreciate your considering including it in Friday’s R&S.
We must bring maximum pressure on the Senate Leadership to halt GOP destruction of our Government because that is precisely what they are striving to achieve.
Years ago, through Norquist’s bathtub analogy, they informed us in cold blooded terms that that was their objective.
These past 5 years offer ample evidence they mean it.
Thank you,
Bob
===============================================
Dear Senators Reid, Schumer, Durbin & Murray,
You must halt the GOP’s destruction of our Government. You are preserving nothing by allowing current filibuster rules to persist. From what we’ve witnessed since 20 Jan 2009, we know that should the GOP ever regain control of the Senate their first order of business will be to kill the filibuster. You cannot operate under any other premise.
Not only must you #NukeTheFilibuster to enable timely votes on Executive & Judicial appointments, you must also do so to enable the Senate to send a tsunami of legislation to Boehner’s House. By doing so, you will place enormous pressure on those House Republicans who want to remain Federal employees in 2015, to band with Leader Pelosi, form a majority coalition and begin governing instead of threatening the solvency and viability of the United States Government.
Make no mistake, the GOP exists for one and only one purpose, servicing plutocrats like the Kochs as they strive to return America to pre-1865 norms regarding non-whites, women, child labor, & wealth disparity. Their vision is a 21st Century #Hooverville. Specifically, #KochvilleUSA – that also possesses the world’s largest nuclear arsenal.
It’s on YOU. No more ultimatums. Halt the unprecedented Senate GOP obstruction.
Just checking in, briefly, between work tasks. Thank you very much, df, for your support. I will be tweeting this to David Axelrod, David Plouffe, and several others tomorrow.
We must free the Senate from GOP obstruction. The consequences will be overwhelming to the GOP and is our best hope of #LandslideDEMS2014.
Back from dinner. It was wonderful…what could be better than sharing a nice night out with my two fabulous children:)…and great food….. I’m exhausted, but I just wanted to say thank you to alice for stepping in for me when I couldn’t be here as Boner….she did a great job, got a little inebriated, but hey…I don’t think that was out of the norm for him! How else would anyone explain the stupid shit Boner does/doesn’t do?
Thank you all for another excellent Halloween at TOD. What a blast we have and it’s become a tradition that I always look forward to…..love you guys. Really. See you all tomorrow….the beast is staring me down…she’s ready for bed….I’m not arguing:) Night all!

As part of the “Tech Surge,” we’ve added key personnel from the government and private sector, including expert engineers and technology managers. These dozens of people are strengthening and reinforcing the team we have working 24/7 to address the problems around Healthcare.gov.
They come from leading technology companies such as Red Hat and Oracle; and include individuals with expertise on site reliability; stability; and scalability.
Two of these key personnel are Michael Dickerson and Greg Gershman.
These costumes are HILARIOUS! Love my SirPatStew as a Lobster. Wilson from Castaway put me on the floor! Then the “Father of the Year” one — OMG!!! 😀 😀 😀
Not a Halloween post….but a report on college students. Just got home from seeing The Pirates of Penzance at the college where I teach. The students did a terrific job. This is Gilbert and Sullivan, and often the words are not understandable, and so the humor gets lost. Tonight, however, the words were clear, the singing was excellent, and these kids are terrific actor/comedians. Thoroughly enjoyable evening, so proud of our kids.
Just another encouraging word on the present young generation…..they’re terrific.
Don’t think I’ve ever seen an Overtime game end in a Safety(3x in NFL history) Dolphins 22 Bengals 20….. Both teams had 2 possessions each in the OT as well.
You sense correctly, darlin’. Grew up without brothers, and nobody was interested in sports. Went to a Catholic girls high school, where the only cheer we were allowed to yell was “Yea, God!!!!!” (Not really, but thought I’d throw in that old high-school joke!)
By the way, LP, I joke with you because you really, really like your sports and I love to see you tell the tale so enthusiastically! I’ve been around sports fans all my life, I’m just not one of ’em. 🙂
I see I have been outed. I, as Koch Brother 1, will not stand for this! I’ll get one of my minions to do that for me. I think I’ll donate money to the Metropolitan Opera and to PBS again. That might throw them off my tracks and placate my billionaire cohorts. You haven’t heard the last of me, you Muslim Socialist fluoride drinkers. TOD will be eliminated from the face of the internet. I know all your secrets… Mwahahahah… *disappears into a cloud of pollution*
Alycee, you are a grammar whiz! “Whom” did you see at the bar, and “Bored By Math” got me. Still I got 94%, which is not bad. Besides, Its been a long day! (Did I use that correctly? Or should I have said It’s been a long day?) Help me out Grammar whiz! Look, It has been more than 45 years ago when I last studied English grammar seriously.
Dudette, you are absolutely incredible! Thank you for staying up so late to post and share your magnificent tweets and closing with Louis Armstrong! Whenever I sense depression coming on, I always play Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” or Duke Ellington;s “Take the A Train.” I am so grateful for all the wonderful music that you,Yardarm, dessert flower, and others share at TOD. Believe me, many times I’ve come to this place and to POU to just listen to music. That includes my favorite music as well as music I’ve never listened to before.
I hope you had a wonderful Halloween! Thanks for always being such an energizing spirit! If I were younger, I would have loved to party with you just for the sheer joy of appreciating life. You see, I deeply credit my people’s survival, despite all the persecution, hatred, hardships and ugliness, to the gift of song and dance and faith in a higher power. Listening to Louis Armstrong and other great musicians confirms my belief. And so does reading the poetry of Maya Angelou, Langston Hughes, Gwendolyn Brooks, Countee Cullen, and Mari Evans; or reading the prose of W.E.B. DuBois, Zora Neale Hurston, Margaret Walker, Richard Wright, James Baldwin and Toni Morrison. Or listening to sermons of great Black preachers from Richard Allen to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and others.
Just so you know, I always look forward to your musical posts because I always discover new voices and new songs.
I’m overwhelmed and humbled by your very kind words, nath.
I couldn’t agree with you more on this: “… I deeply credit my people’s survival, despite all the persecution, hatred, hardships and ugliness, to the gift of song and dance and faith in a higher power. Listening to Louis Armstrong and other great musicians confirms my belief. Coming to TOD to laugh, learn, and share is my therapy. This is where my heart sings and my soul lifts up.
Catching up here. And I totally agree. Ms. Dudette is an undercover Angel! There is no other word to describe this wonderful spirit. The picture she post and the music beings tears of gladness and joy to my eyes. What a wonderful spirit that I am connected to from day one. Thank you Ms.Chips for making this happen.
So much to catch up on…..I love it so much.
wow! dudette, i stepped away to tend to some trick-or-treaters, and all this wonderfulness is posted! guess you’re resting your well-earned rest now, but thanks from all the night owl lurkers 🙂

MOST asked question last night of my son- The President, while out Trick or Treating: “Hey Obama, what’re you doing about Healthcare”? Response: “I’m working on it”
Good morning TODders. Hope everyone has a great day. I will be sleeping, ready to wake up to the next ‘big scandal’. will these folks in the MSM ever quit? Apparently not.
Good Morning after…..you all really got into your costumes, last night…too funny!…….Woke up this morning, cut tv on, was on MSNBC from Lawrence, last night….and lo and behold, first thing I hear is Dana Perino calling PBO a LIAR…..not misleading, false,, or misunderstood but “HE LIED”….You know, it takes balls to go on national tv and say the President of the United States LIED……I am appalled that everyone around the table just smiled and did not say a word…..the next big “scandal” is the new Heilemann and Halperin book…whether it ‘s true or not, it will be true by the time the media finishes with it….
really?
Congrats on 1st. Susanne.
Congrats susanne on #1!
LMAO @Carlton and Fresh Prince….
I notice that babies and pets don’t like the Halloween costumes – they look embarrassed as if they know something is not quite right and people are laughing, but they’re not sure why. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Nice collection UT! Congrats on first Susanne!
No words…….
Samantha Power’s son has the most gorgeous red hair. So cute.
re shrub photo: baby looks alarmed. just realized that man is related. yuck!
Agree. Shrub looks a little crazed. Like “Romney at Home,” after he lost the election.
Poor baby!
Really neat Halloween tweets, UT (and, LP). Thank you.
Congrats on 1st Susanne!!

Sounds wonderful! There’s a soft spot in my heart for musical theatre.
Maybe someone will post video on YouTube. Would love to see/hear some snippets.
I love stories like that!
Don’t think I’ve ever seen an Overtime game end in a Safety(3x in NFL history) Dolphins 22 Bengals 20….. Both teams had 2 possessions each in the OT as well.
Wow. Yeah. 🙂
JB, I’m a sensing facetiousness with your new found knowledge of football or sports in general……. It’s OK, you get a pass this time 🙂
Well I appreciated the update. 😎
YW, Carol….. we can jointly ignore the mischief JB is apparently in the mood for!
Bedtime or I’d still be watching game, when it’s not your team, bed looks good!

Right! “Older sister” works for me. Ha! 🙂
