Shouldn't Dems' argument be: Yes, some plans will be cancelled because they're substandard, and ppl are given subsidies to get better plans.

Things that also happened before Obamacare:
1. Insurers canceled coverage
2. Premiums went up
3. Buying coverage sometimes took too long

Thanks for calling it what it is, Bob!
Congrats on a Fine First! 🙂
Thank you Dudette. And thank you for all your fine tweets today (and, always). Had just posted that tweet when UT’s (yet another) excellent thread appeared.

You’re my inspiration! 🙂
You are very kind, Dudette!!!
In gratitude ….
Just how EVIL they are, Arapaho!!!!
Women who represent the GOP do a great disservice to all other women – I don’t know how they justify the policies they support.
Congrats Bob! The media would rather not speak on the $24 billion Teapublicans wasted.
Am keeping our dear TODsters Layla, NoChildLeftBehind, & MightyPamela in my thoughts and hope they are all doing as well as possible.
Chips has created an exceptional community and it is a privilege to participate in it.

Thank you Sabreen!!!
I thought the previous comment would appear at the bottom of this thread.
In any event, you could not be more correct about how those who willingly wasted BILLIONS could care less about the consequences. That’s what hate and avarice will do to anyone who trades in such evil commerce.
Hey Bob, nice to see you up top again!
Thank you Judith and thank you for all your RTs!!!!!
Good stuff UT!
Thanks!
This is GREAT!

I love the hashtag, because it really points out that most of what is being discussed in the media/public square has nothing to do with reality. Nothing to do with the issues that normal families are dealing with every day.
For those interested in the history of Black U.S. Senators (thinking of educator nath):
Thanks for sharing this article, Arapaho! Yes the period after the Civil war, known as Reconstruction, saw unprecedented numbers of African Americans being elected to office on local, state and national levels in the former Confederate States. The Mississippi legislature
(this was before the passage and ratification of the XVII Amendment) elected two African American Americans to the U.S. Senate. The first was Hiram R. Revels who was elected in January, 1870 to fill the one year of the unexpired term of Jefferson Davis. In 1874 Blanche K. Bruce, also from Mississippi, became the first African American elected by the legislature to serve a full six year term in the U.S. Senate. He served from 1875 to 1881. He would have served with another Black elected Senator, P.S.B. Pinchback, from Louisiana, but the Senate refused to seat Pinchback. With the overthrow of Reconstruction and the beginning of Jim Crow period, Bruce would be the last Black U. S. Senator until Jan. 1967 when Edward W. Brooke of Massachusetts (elected in Nov.1966) became the first and only African American elected statewide to serve two terms (1967-1979) in the U.S Senate. It took another 20 years before another African American, this time an African American woman, Carol Mosley Braun of Illinois, to be elected statewide to the U.S. Senate.
Black U.S. Senators are extremely rare! In the entire 224 year history of the U.S. Senate, only 4 African Americans have been elected to a six year term in the U.S. Senate. Cory Booker is going to be the 5th. 4 other Blacks have served as Senators to finish out the time of Senators who resigned before serving their allotted six year term.
I know TOD won’t be distracted by 2016, with so much work to do in 2014:
Woooo, I can’t begin to tell you how much I wish Georgia was in that list. We’ve still got work to do.
Dudette, I think Georgia stands a good chance of electing a Democratic U.S. Senator since the incumbent is not running. I would love to know your take on this.
More on Jeff Denham (posted over the weekend). CA CDs have been redrawn, but Denham basically has Gary Condit’s old seat (remember him, the big story in 2001 before 9/11 was Chandra Levy):
Okay so I’m still thinking about Christie, and the likelihood that he’ll retain his seat in NJ really bugs me ’cause he seems like such a hypocrite. Since I cannot shorten videos, I’ll just tell you guys to start at ~5:50 for the reminder that he only cares about himself and his own ambitions..

Just brilliant, Hopefruit!!!!!!!!!
Oh man, I totally missed that.
[In my shrillest, whiny baby voice]… I don’t wunna be David Gregory.
Can’t I be Michele Bachmann, so I can wear googly-eyes and say batshitcrazy stuff? I can DO that! 🙂
Sure dudette, you can be Michele Bachmann – these are just *suggested* costumes, and folks are more than welcome to come as whomever they please 🙂 🙂
It will be a BLAST! I took a stroll down memory lane when we had something similar back in 2011, and boy did we have FUN that day! I came dressed as Ron Paul…LMAO!
Then I call dibs on danny.
But you were gonna be so cute with your water bottle. 🙂
danny can be cute with that water bottle.
LOL! What a cop out…
You will be Rubio with a new pet pup named Danny….
Tell him, hf! Rub-i-o! Rub-i-o! Rub-i-o! 🙂
I am rubio. Copping out is what I do.
This is going to be fun….
Rubio with new puppy pretending he’s the GOP’s PBO with new pup- Sunny…
Okay, that’ll work.
Just letting you know now, I’m gonna be more than fashionably late. Will be out doing my Auntly duty: Taking the little one out for trick or treating, then helping Mom inspect the haul (basically toss anything that’s not on the union-made list) 🙂
Some of us will be here on the west coast late shift, so it’ll be fun to continue the costume party!
Hopefruit, is there a party start (and end) time, or are we doomed to be the jerks all day? Would you object to restricting the impersonation to the afternoon/evening hours? What say you, or others?
You can start at any time on that day, and most people go in and out of costume throughout the day – depending on what’s going on.
I’m linking the R & S thread from Halloween 2011, so you can get an idea of what people did! I had quite a chuckle reading through some of those posts….

Nighty nite, a4A! Sweet dreams!
I’ll be following you shortly as I have to go in tomorrow too.
time to prepare some dinner … will bbl … in the meantime, we all should be sending Senator Reid as much support and clear messaging as we can regarding the fact that he has all the justification he needs to #NukeFilibuster to halt #GOP obstruction and incalculable harm to Americans ….

OMG – Maybe using highways and bridges built using federal dollars is a conflict of interest, too? Or maybe the federal retirement benefits, Social Security benefits, and Medicare I pocket because I’m a “taker” means I shouldn’t vote? Oh, I’m so confused by it all.
My thoughts exact!
“Exactly” — guess she hasn’t seen that list of states that take back more from the federal govt than they contribute in taxes. Wonder if she lives in one?
She seems to be from another planet, only inhabited by the underbelly of society aka RWNJs, no offense to any underbellies out there.
Wow, Dudette, these people have totally lost it! I bet if Liberty Bunny FooFoo had her say so she would love to see slavery restored! I keep asking my self what century am I in? Some of these tea baggers sound like people in Europe’s dark ages, or at least people in the centuries before the Enlightenment. Has the technological revolution that has brought us instant communication short changed us when it comes to knowledge of history, science and critical thinking? Does this idiot not realize that the selfish wealthy, who want to use government to protect and advance their interests, are the ones with the most obvious conflict of interests? Can they be relied upon to promote the General Welfare, one of the goals clearly stated in the preamble of the Constitution?
Chips, you are remarkable, you found what I was looking for. Thank you so much. You save me everyday from this crazy world.
Hey! No fair! We wanna see the picture! C’mon! 😦
Chipsticks, that photo of President Obama is HAWT!
That’s all.
Night all….was up with the dog in the middle of the night last night….worked all day…..sleepy night night time 🙂 Chips….congrats on the 22 million today. I’m not surprised:)
President Obama is going to be in VA campaigning for McCaulife!!

Ok friends, it’s been a ridiculously busy day. I’m home, I’m fed, I’m cold, I’m sick, I’m going to bed. I’ll practice my tetchy Chris Hayes mannerisms tomorrow for the Halloween party.
Speaking of the Congresswoman…
please bear with me while I vent a little:
I can’t stand privileged imbeciles who do not understand a subject they choose to publicly speak about;
I have tried to keep my thoughts about that idiot Suzanne Sommers to myself but I have to be fair to myself and let a few of them out tonight;
Now I feel a little better.
Brava Linda! Somers deserves every bit of humiliation she gets. And as for the WSJ…
Linda, you deserve a standing ovation for calling out this spoiled, entitled, and ignorant woman!
Is this from The Onion? If not, were/are there no editors at the WSJ in ’08/’13?
Good night, Obots. Tomorrow is ….oops…today! Have to get some sleep so that I’ll be somewhat coherent at work tomorrow.

Linda – This one’s for you (I finally read an article about the WSJ article):
In conversations among the investor class (of which I’ve had countless over several decades) the meme of ’rounding error’ is pervasive. It’s a terse way of conveying that some amount of $ being invested is so insignificant that the risk is readily justified.
What plutocrats have in common is that they view all but a few members of humanity as so insignificant that whatever number of those humans perish is not only of no consequence, it’s actually a net gain, i.e., fewer ‘takers.’ They do not distinguish a monetary ’rounding error’ from a human life ’rounding error.’
They could care less if 20 or 30 or 100 or 500 thousand Americans perish every year for lack of health care. They’d be delighted if that number was a million or more. And, they are just as committed to paying those who don’t succumb to death as low a wage as possible – any doubt just look at how the Walton’s treat their Walmart employees (and among the plutocrat class they are not unique).
All plutocrats never reflect on the fact that EVERY life is an ONLY TIME EVENT.
EVERY LIFE, not just theirs.
They have zero capacity to recognize and admit that the moment any human views another human through the lens of currency they are EVIL.
They have zero capacity to recognize that NO such thing as a ’rounding error’ exists in the equation of the treasure of each and every human life.
The equation of EVERY human LIFE evaluates to INFINITE VALUE.
The fundamental disconnect between those who abhor President Obama and President Obama is that HE GETS the INFINITE VALUE OF EACH LIFE.
…. time for some rest …
#FORWARD Together
Decided to send a letter to our wonderful President before getting a bit of rest:
29 October 2013
Dear Mr President,
In conversations among the investor class (of which I’ve had countless over several decades) the meme of ’rounding error’ is pervasive.
And, they are just as committed to paying those who don’t succumb to death as low a wage as possible – any doubt just look at how the Walton’s treat their Walmart employees (among the plutocrat class they are normative).
Plutocrats never reflect on the fact that EVERY life is a ONE TIME, EVER, UNIQUE EVENT.
EVERY LIFE, not just theirs.
They have zero capacity to recognize and admit that the moment any human views another human through the lens of currency they are EVIL.
They have zero capacity to recognize that NO such thing as a ’rounding error’ exists in the equation of the treasure of each and every human life.
The fundamental disconnect between those who abhor you, Mr President, is that you GET the INFINITE VALUE OF EACH LIFE.
The reason they have obstructed you, in unprecedented ways, since 20 Jan 2009 is that they know precisely how you value life and that you have the intellectual, emotional and physical stamina to not only stall their avaricious crusade, but defeat them conclusively.
You, Mr President, can not only lead a 3rd Reconstruction to success but truly end the root cause of the Civil War.
You, Mr President, are already mightily propelling an American society that rejects any threat to ANY American’s right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Thank you,
Bob
