I posted! Guess I am back in good graces with WordPress.

Glad Danny slept the night. Now it is getting thru the day.

Mooooooorning Marilyn!! So sorry you were having WP problems, it’s happened for a few others recently – ie problems commenting – but relieved to see you’re back in! Danny slept like a baby, couldn’t believe it, I was sure he’d be freaked out on his first night away from his family – no problems ….. so far!

Great news that Danny was such a good boy. He must be pleased with his new situation—–grass to frolic in, leaves and tennis balls to chew, a choice of beds. Meals are probably provided too. He’s thinking, “Not bad. I think I lucked out.”

Chips, Danny is one precious little guy! One thing I miss because we adopt adults is that ‘everything is new’ thing.

Calliope was the only dog Hubby and I raised together from a pup. At five pounds, she LOVED snow. Plowing in one side of a snowdrift, coming out the other. For an hour until she peed!

She got a reward though. “Go tell Daddy you were a good girl!” She’d jump on Hubby in bed, caked with snow which she shook off on him and dug her ice-laden paws into his chest.

          Good girl, Calliope!

And in the spring, she was fascinated with ants. Followed them everywhere. And she thought butterflies were the most fantastical thing in the world……..

Everything is ‘new’. It’s a precious time. Remind yourself of that when you’re searching for your phone and the doggie bed has holes in it…..

aww you wore him out yesterday Chips.. all that leaf chasing and playing with the nephew.. excellent ingredients for a good night’s rest. I also want to comment on your photos of him… wayyyyy better than a certain parade of droppings 🙂 🙂 That photo of him posing so perfectly with his sweet sleepy eyes of melted chocolate- superb! The leaf in his mouth photo- also – perfecto! Sending Danny love & scritches from Auntie Sheri this morning.

It’s still early here in MT. Now think I will go back to sleep and come back later.
Good morning Tnmtngirl. Did you get your question answered the other day?

    • October 20, 2013 at 7:58 am

No. Got on the Chat Room healthcare.gov. I explained/asked VERY clearly what my question was, but the woman never understood. I realized that is ONLY for questions regarding the Marketplace, not the ACA law itself. Oh well. I did some research on the guy who wrote the article and even though he is AP, I think his explanation is “pretty much” on the up and up.

Chips, when I saw the first photo of Danny with the leaf in his mouth I just melted. I wanted to cup his little face in my hands, ruffle those ears and say ‘you’re so cute, you’re so cute’. He’s irresistible. I can tell you have fallen madly in love with him already. Your excitement just jumps off the screen. I am so happy for you. LH

A fellow was about to enter a bar when a dog tugged at his trouser leg and said to him, “Hey, pal, Wanna make some quick money?”

The man couldn’t believe his ears. He said to the dog, “Can you talk?”

“Yeah,” the dog answered, “and that’s how we can pick up some easy money. You take me into the bar with you, pretend I’m your dog, and bet everybody I can talk.”

The fellow thought that was a great idea, so he took the dog into the bar, set it on the bar, and announced to everyone that the dog could talk. The other patrons didn’t believe him, and it wasn’t long before several thousand dollars had been bet. Finally, after all the bets had been placed, the guy said to the dog, “All right, go ahead and say something.”

    Nothing.

He told the dog again, “Hey! All the bets are placed! Say something, for God’s sake!”

The dog just looked at him and whined.

He, asked again and again, but the dog wouldn’t say a word. Finally, the fellow had to pay all the bets, scooped up the dog in disgust and walked out. Once outside, he screamed at the dog, “You just cost me way over a thousand dollars! You got anything to say before I seriously kick your mangy ass?”

“Take it easy, pal! You ain’t thinkin’,” the dog answered. “Tomorrow night, we’ll be able to get odds of fives or better.”

Moral of the story. Always talk to your dog. You never know when you will hit paydirt.

Good Sunday Morning Chipsticks, TOD Early Birds…Everyone!

  9. October 20, 2013 at 8:28 am

Good morning Ms. Chips, Danny and TOD family. I hope all have blessed day today. Congrats Marilyn on being first this lovely Sunday morning. Thank God that President Obama is still the President of The United States of America this day.

  10. October 20, 2013 at 8:32 am

LP talked about the President’s spirituality on one of the previous posts. I believe he has to reach deep into faith — his spirituality — to endure the adversity that has attached itself to a job that is already full of pressure.

Especially in times like we’ve just experienced with the government shutdown, as well as the on-going scandal-gates, the continued obstruction of the TP/GOP/MSM, the tragedies from gun violence and devastation from natural disasters, I can imagine the President, in some form or other, saying the words (and I can imagine many of us saying it too):

Lord, Help Me to Hold Out

  11. October 20, 2013 at 8:40 am

Just woke up and missed the Danny introduction last night. What a cutie! You have great times ahead of you, Chips, and a long, long love fest.
Danny’s a lucky little guy. Won’t be long before you’re the center of his world. Congratulations and thanks for the photo memory.

    • October 20, 2013 at 8:50 am

      They are just toooooooooo funny!!!!

    • October 20, 2013 at 9:02 am

I’m reading some of these rules and think about the lessons I learned with my dog:

“If I find it on the floor, it’s mine.”

I used to get angry when my dog would tear up something until I took into consideration my role in the destruction. No matter how human traits you attribute to your pet, or how well-trained you think you dog is, if you leave something in reach of a dog, don’t be surprised if they do what dogs do.

And an addendum to “When it’s time for dinner, I eat first”

… “and then I want some of whatever you’re eating.”

    • October 20, 2013 at 9:08 am

You should also remember this wisdom for dog training:

When you see your puppy has done something you didn’t want him to do, roll up a newspaper. Then hit yourself with it going “Bad owner! Bad owner!” 😉 😆

  12. October 20, 2013 at 8:44 am

    Hey Chipsticks,

When Danny looked at that puppy bed you bought for him, did he look at you in disbelief and say, “Seriously?!?!?!?!” And that was before he figured out it was probably a toy for him to tear apart. 😀

Too much analysis from the NYT. When they write this

“Though the election and re-election of Mr. Obama may have radicalized many conservatives, the base’s fury has its roots in the two terms of his predecessor, Mr. Bush, whose expansion of Medicare, proposed immigration overhaul and 2008 bank bailout left many conservatives distraught. ”

They are trying to pretend that there is something other than racism that set this alight. Sarah Palin not being able to handle the win of an AA President started the stupid – which the rest of the stupid has followed. This had NOTHING to do with Bush and everything to do with the election and re-election of Barack Obama.

The majority of people who belong to the “tea party” are those who need government services to survive. If a white republican President introduced the ACA and immigration overhaul – they would be for it – all the way. The only thing that made republicans distraught in 2008 was PBO winning an election.

Chips I missed Danny’s TOD welcome home party last night, but what a delightful way to wake up today and to see the many photos that you shared. What a delightful addition to your and the TOD family. Thanks so much for sharing. I have never had a pet of any type, but learning about the dear companions that so many here have, I am beginning to think about having an addition to my family of one. You are going to be so tired, but so happy; congratulations.

G’morning Chips & TOD!! Chips, I’m so glad to hear that Pup Danny was great on his first night. He must have felt quite at home already. Looking forward to more pic!! 🙂

This is a big reason why we have nutty tea party types who will believe any ridiculous lie or smear about PBO, why we have so many in the more conservative religious states who continue to vote against their self interests.

It is probably easier to get healthcare coverage than it is to vote in many states.

Applying for insurance pre-ACA: Weeks and weeks of recreating your medical history, faxes back and forth between you and the doctor, questions from the insurance company, remembering every sniffle you ever had – all to be rejected anyway.

Create a new account with a new email address and try again. It will be a LOT easier and a LOT better than the old system.

    • October 20, 2013 at 10:03 am

Those who keep harping on the glitches make it seem like the system has been up and running for months and months; not just a few weeks. All the testing for a system this complex would not have uncovered all the different scenarios that might cause problems in the operations of the system.

I also wonder about potential compatibility issues. I know that with some of my online services, I may have issues with some applications on IE that I may not have on Firefox (and vice-versa). But I have to figure that out through trial and error.

As people continue to use the system, I’m sure issues will continue to be identified and resolved, just as with any other system.

      • October 20, 2013 at 11:06 am

swb, I discovered that the “Error 400” message I kept getting is as a result of windows on my computer. 95% of the Error 400 messages are the fault of the client computer (i.e user trying to access site). I did inform Healthcare.gov via a CHAT conversation and I kept a record of the conversation.

        • October 20, 2013 at 2:03 pm

I’m sure that many of the problems people are experiencing can’t be duplicated by the techs because the system will work with their platform. Your input will probably go a long way (or maybe already has) in resolving some of the problems. 🙂

    Good morning TOD.
Two things today: Congratulation Chips on that super adorable new family member Danny. Many years of love ahead for both of you.
And Robert Costa is quoting Frank Luntz today on his statement that for the first time the GOP has to consider that Nancy Pelosi will be the next Speaker.
I certainly hope that Frank Luntz is correct!
