2013 on TOD – note (‘Even’) Amk has 18,656 TOD friends in India
****
Updated, didn’t want flippin’ Ireland last on the mini-list:
****
It’s been a gobsmacking journey so far, we’re now closing in on a ridiculous 22 million hits – all of them down to me, needless to say, the mindboggling increase in traffic absolutely nothing to do with UT, LL, LP, Zizi and the rest of the gang.
(True, the post stats suggest otherwise, but: hush now).
****
Any way, with this very lovely traffic has come a whole bunch of new visitors, several in the last few days, which is fantastic – but please understand that in an attempt to keep out the trolls – and they are many – your comments won’t appear here automatically if you’re a first time visitor.
Have a look here to see how you can comment.
Best advice: sign in with your Twitter account – but if you don’t have one, check that link.
If your account is @BarackObama, you’re good.
Now, chat away – and thank you all, you human cheesy puffs.
ok.
COS… you snuck in past me! Clever! 🙂
🙂 Sorry Dudette.
Well, since it’s you, it’s okay. 🙂
Freeeeeedom!
I might have a fainting spell if @BarackObama ever commented here. Maybe after 2016…
Oh Lord! In my dreams:)
That would be a nuclear blast! 😀
I like to think he and/or FLOTUS (or at least someone close to them) lurk here every now and then. 🙂
Hi Cousin Henry! 🙂
Dudette just in case POTUS and FLOTUS do lurk here every now and then, I would like to say hello hello Mr. President, hello Mrs First Lady. We love you guys and we still have your back. 🙂
Oooo, you’re right…. Hey, Y’all! Love you!!!
Don’t be strangers now, ya hear?!! [waving my Southern Peach wave] 🙂
After 2016, he just might. I think that after 2016 we just might be one of the few blogs that will faithfully keep up with his doings. At least I hope so-I want to follow it all-the opening of his library, the books, I’m certain there will be at least one movie, Malia and Sasha’s growing up, the charitable foundations, the speeches. And since we’ve always have been supportive, he would feel comfortable posting here.
Gawd, then I really would get no sleep for like another decade! 🙂
Put the naughty mats away and clean-up some o’ the toilet tongues, eh? ;-D
I’m at my best when I’m a little “saucy” 😉
Sez who? 🙂
I have the same desires, CarolDuhart. Oh, how blissful all of that will be for all of our TOD family.HZ
Carol, we can all wish that that were so. And, yes, there will be many books, movies, poems, and, best of all, incredible memories about this great, great president.
Wouldn’t that be amazing? Chips – sincere congratulations on your worldwide reach!
Cheezy puffs! I can eat those!
Whoopee!
Wooooohoooooo! Go United States – Number one!
Ireland is dead last…..*Ahem* like their football team.
Oh, now that’s cold!
Chips, you gonna take that?!!
Oi!!!! Ireland are only last on that mini-list, but ahead of a gazillion nations! And: they only finished THIRD last in their group, so stick that in yer pipe and smoke it!
Booyah! 🙂
Whatcha say to that UT, huh? [my eyes swinging back and forth between them]
Dudette, under severe provocation from UT, I have now updated the post!
I guess you don’t know anybody in Sweden then. 🙂
🙂
Sorry UT, for me I am more impressed with Barbados in 6th place than I am with the giant US in #1 spot! I think if we went by % of the people following TOD, out of the total populations of each of the listed countries, Barbados would be #1!
Come to think of it, Trinidad and Tobago is not that far behind Barbados! I am just so impressed with the support TOD is getting from the Caribbean!
Oh, btw, how did the Irish fare against mighty Kazakhstan?
THREE-1. Count ’em: THREEEEEEEE! 😎
Ireland needs to go on a crash Robbie Keane cloning program.
Ahem, shouldn’t that be
note EVEN Amk has 18,656 TOD friends in India
Fixed!
buíochas a ghabháil leat.
😆 Go raibh maith agat, Mr Even!
I’d like it if FLOTUS or VPBiden, VFLOTUS commented or VJ44 or Jonfavs, etc.
What a great team you have created, Chips!
Thank you.
I hope at the end of all this, the gop / tea party is forever fractured
If your account is @BarackObama, you’re good.
NO. I wanna see his birth certificate before we let him in. Otherwise, it will be apocalypse.
This dude deserves maximum derision ….
…. pour it on ….
#FiredUP …. #ReadyToROLL
Not to mention the dirty rules change by Eric Cantor that guaranteed the shutdown and prevented Dems from using the discharge petition to reopen the government sooner. Over two weeks for what?? How vicious can you be. The Republican Party has contempt for the American people.
Another damned South Carolina snake!
You know, Dudette, South Carolina has always been in the forefront when it comes to people the sates trying to destroy the good old USA! Lest we forget, South Carolina was the leader of Southern Secession!
How many from Wyoming? 😉
Aren’t there only about 20 people that LIVE in WY? 🙂 Just kidding! You’re here…that’s all that matters:)
If you count the jackalope! 😀
Actually I recently found out we now have just over half a million. We should only get one Senator.
Watched part of LOD…had Jared Bernstein and Mark Patterson on discussing the debt limit…..Patterson quoted Senator Moynihan, and I think it’s pertinent. Sen. Moynihan said ” When people in government have contempt for government, you have contemptible government.” These Rethugs are certainly demonstrating their contempt by being contemptible!
I just shared that on my FB wall. So true!
Here is something that puzzles me about right wingers who claim to be Pro U.S. Constitution, but are vehemently anti- U.S. government. The original U.S. Constitution is primarily (may be even exclusively) about enumerating the powers, obligations and responsibilities of the three branches of the U.S. (Federal) government. Article I is about the power and responsibility of the legislative branch (Congress); Article II is about the powers and responsibilities of the Executive branch (President); and Article III is about the power and responsibilities of the Judicial branch (the Courts-particularly the Supreme Court). It’s true that the Bill of Rights (especially Amendments 1-9) focus on protecting the rights of people, but that does not mean that the framers who wrote the Constitution in order to create the U.S. government were somehow anti-government. Had they been anti-government and for the supposedly States Rights, they would have been content with Articles of Confederation, which did not provide for a central government with strong and powerful Executive and Judicial branches
You’re so right, Nath. What we need is some HONEST history lessons instead of the contorted mess we’re exposed to. The purpose of the Constitution was to eliminate The Articles of Confederation. The framers were so intent on abolishing state’s rights that the Convention was initially held in secret because they knew Southern states would rebel. They believed that a patchwork of different laws and authority weakened the country and believed (quite sensibly) that it was necessary to be united in order to succeed as a nation.
Thanks for the update, Chips! (Love maps.)
And Dudette, I responded to you and Robert Costas just now:
Which is similar to a tweet Meta sent out tonight.
So it looks like we’re all on the same page. 🙂
Aw, They are depressed?? Well, cry me a river. These hypocrites who read the Constitution before the opening of congress need to go back and read their oath of office again. And maybe they should try thinking for themselves instead of relinquishing their judgment to crooks outside of the government.
🙂
All I’m going to say is 2014. We need a new Speaker of the House and we need to put the Democrats back in control of the House.
Heck yeh!
I agree with you, Annibella! That’s the only practical solution to the nightmare we’ve been living under since the 2010 Congressional elections.
Thank you so much for posting the stats and maps. Thrilling!!!! This is a very special place to me and it’s exciting to think of how many others read the posts and see such positive news about President Obama, the First Family, VP Joe and all the others who work so hard and stand up for us. Thanks to Chips and the gang and all of the TOD community!
I too am a map enthusiastic. [ You’re shocked, I know. ]
Seeing those international statistics just gives me warm glow inside. It’s exciting to know that all those single men out there with sexy accents are reading my words at this very moment. I want you to know that I love you all. Mmmmwah! Smooches! 😉
Heh, I am a married man.
Um, dude, what kinda woman do you think I am? The word “single” appears clearly in line 1 of paragraph 2 above. 🙂
[swatting you with a newspaper] I oughta tell Missus Amk on ya!
I know. I was just pointing it out to you that you left out a whole buncha of us.
Go away, ya rascal!
partiality. favoritism. bias.
wimmin/smh
lol, good on you Dudette, take advantage of those stats- stat !
Quantity is the key! 🙂
absolutely- must have choices.
😯
Off-topic, but worth your time (IMHO)
Amen.

What is really sad is that even Republicans long out of Congress & GOP administrations don’t have the guts to speak against the crazies. Sad

Did even one Republican denounce the Confederate flag in front of the White House this weekend?
No. Not one. THAT should be a major news story but instead we are subjected to chuck Todd making 7 figures and not understanding the fundamental differences betwee the Senate and House deals. Cronkite should haunt all their asses like effing Marley’s ghost.
When Pat Robertson is sounding semi-sane……Wow……then hell has frozen over 😯
http://www.mediaite.com/tv/pat-robertson-to-gop-time-to-wave-the-white-flag-and-give-up/
Below is the transcript of Robertson’s remarks:
“The Republicans have got to wave the white flag and say, ‘We fought a good fight and now it’s over. They cannot shut the government down and then bring about a default. We can’t do it. I mean, it would be devastating economically to every human being and the Republicans just can’t get tarred with that. So they tried and if they go to the electorate and say, ‘We tried, Obamacare was awful, we tried to get it underway and we weren’t successful, the Democrats wanted it, they fought for it and they wouldn’t let go so it’s their bill, their program.’”
Where’s the smelling salts? I really am in topsy-turvy world.
I was shocked. This is the SEER who saw or was it God had told him who was going to be the Victor last Nov presidential election.
Sadly, I doubt that the Ted Cruz/Mike Lee, Michelle Bachman, etc., etc., who make up the tea bag terrorist wing of the GOP will pay any attention to old Pat Robertson! I think they only listen to the Koch brothers, Heritage’s Jim DeMint, talk propagandists like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Alex Jones, etc., etc.
Fifty years from now, Republicans will be trying to take credit for Obamacare – maybe even claiming that President Obama was a Republican.
Takes GOP out behind the woodshed!
House Republicans Show Themselves To Be Dangerously Incompetent, Again
http://www.businessinsider.com/house-republicans-show-themselves-to-be-dangerously-incompetent-again-2013-10
….Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) was on CNN today saying that his party’s strategy for the last month has been lunacy. Well why the hell didn’t he do anything to stop it? Why didn’t he join with Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) and stop the shutdown in its tracks on Sept. 30? Where is his sense of responsibility?
Can you imagine the situation this country would be in if Republicans controlled both houses of Congress right now? Or if we had a President whose administration gets jerked around by Heritage Action in the same way that House Republicans do? It would be a trainwreck, and “reasonable” Republicans like Nunes would still be on television saying they understand it’s a trainwreck, but by golly, operationally, they had no way to stop it.
There is no serious argument for Republican governance right now, even if you prefer conservative policies over liberal ones. These people are just too dangerously incompetent to be trusted with power….
“There is no serious argument for Republican governance right now, even if you prefer conservative policies over liberal ones. These people are just too dangerously incompetent to be trusted with power….”
To say the least ….
#TrustBarack
If I lived in the UK, I’d of course vote Labour. But I wouldn’t have existential dread if the Tories won. Yes, I’d gripe and complain, but the country wouldn’t implode.
Our GOP is the lunatic party. It just has no grasp on reality.
The right did win in Australia – some things are not nice – but the only reason we will implode will be if the GOP brings down the world economy
THIS!
Sadly, magic, there are too many of these congressmen who “lament” what’s going on, wish it weren’t happening, but do nothing to stop it. I have zero sympathy for them. If they are that helpless, the need to quit so a Democrat can get the job and actually get something done.
A repeat, but well worth the read if you haven’t already. Guess who!

COVERT OPERATIONS The billionaire brothers who are waging a war against Obama.
Esprit de corps.
Saw that earlier! Oooorah!!!
Beautiful, wasn’t it!
Honor. Duty. Country.
These words mean something to our men & women in uniform. GOP politicans? Not so much.
… not to mention my personal (Navy) favorite core values:
Honor. Courage. Commitment.
^^^THIS!^^^
Great for the troops to do this, but deeply sad that it has come to this.
Deeply sad! There is a deep community spirit between the military and the civilians who support them (once the officer types get over their amazement, after first working with them, that they just can’t “order” a civilian to do something – Ha!). Not only this period, but federal workers – most of whom already suffer a pay comparability gap with private workers – haven’t had a cost-of-living pay raise in 2-3 years, due to the economy. Yes, very sad, indeed.
France has 65K visitors? They must just love my FF.
Mais oui! 😆
A moment for my celebrity crush, un’k? 🙂
Just read Benen’s piece on a “de-Americanized” world.
The GOP and their ilk keep braying about “American exceptionalism”. The world sees a country that can’t govern itself. What the GOP is doing is ensuring that we become Russia.
😥
Wow Chips ~ The whole world…. in.your.hands. 😉
Perhaps Our Dudette can tap into that oldie but goodie music 😉
lol.. very good Nena, didn’t even think of that.. was thinking of initially- It’s a Small World.. loved that ride at Disney when I was a kid 🙂 🙂
There…..this music will be in my brains all week….
Well Done, Grasshopper! 🙂
[Thanks for picking up my slack!]
For you, lady Dudette….. 😉 any Time
well done Nena, thanks~
My sentiments, exactly.
2014…….Speaker Nancy Pelosi
Speaker-for-Life Nancy Pelosi! 🙂
A real Speaker. John Boehner is just a dam joke. A disaster.
He needs to go to rehab. In fact, I don’t even care if he goes to rehab – he just needs to go home to Ohio and rest a spell on the back 40.
All the kidding aside (who am I kidding?), great job, bt. Keep it up.
Go raibh míle maith agat, Mr Even!
When you hit 25 mil, we are all gonna chip in and buy you a monster cheesy puff.
😆 Or how about a counseling session to help me deal with a (potentially) deranged puppy!! Thank you Mr Even!
Who said that cheesy puff is for you? I said we will buy you one but that doesn’t mean you get to eat it. MICA!!!
I will spend the first week telling him: “YOUR NAME IS *NOT* MICA!”
Good luck with that. I am a baby whisperer too.
Okay, we need music. Give me a few and we’ll have a Night Owl Music chat
Kewl! I need to roll out for a bit. See ya later!
These People are just Mad…..Crazy…..Nuts……Certifiable.

‘I really believe we are in a great position right now,” says Michael Needham, the 31-year-old president of Heritage Action, the lobbying arm of the nation’s largest conservative think tank. By “we” he means the Republican Party and the conservative movement; their “great position” refers to the potential to win the political battle over the government shutdown.
Though Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is the public face of the high-risk strategy to “defund” ObamaCare, the masterminds behind it are a new generation of young conservatives, chief among them Mr. Needham. From a tactical view, the strategy has been deployed with precision. In August, only Mr. Cruz and a band of renegade tea-party Republicans in the House favored this approach, and the media collectively scoffed. But by September, House Republicans couldn’t pass a budget without attaching the defunding rider that has grounded much of government.
WOW!! These people ARE American jihadists!!
Wow. We are worldwide. What an impressive feat. Way to go Chips!!
