Huh? Why would you want to do THAT, LPlains? … it’s okay. Don’t answer. I wouldn’t understand anyway. Probably some course requirement.

      • October 9, 2013 at 9:51 pm

I am exploiting a loophole my Geology teacher decided to offer. Have a lab exam tomorrow, and have to identify over 60 rocks/minerals & characteristics(Luster,Streak,Cleavage-degree angles,Fracture,Hardness, etc….) She said we could create a study guide/note cards et al……..anything but the lab manual. So I took pictures of every rock….categorized them, and am creating blog posts identifying every single detail 🙂 🙂 🙂 Going to walk around with my iPad to each station, and shred that exam to pieces!!!!

I TOLD you not to answer!

[Hmmmm. Geology, or biology? Are you sure the bracketed portion is about rocks – streaking, cleavage, angles, hardness…? I don’t know…..] Okay, I’ll behave so you can continue your exam prep.

I flunked that course way back when. I could identify every rock and mineral…had it all down pat, strike and dip, studied for hours, took fabulous notes, had an incredible study group-everything in my favor. Day of exam every specimen out in that lab looked the ABSOLUTE same…I had to say obsidian for each one. They all had that characteristic. Flunked the lab…got a B in the lecture= D-. To this day I hate all rocks, won’t even step on one!

          that’s the spirit!

Best of luck on your exam – “shredded exam pieces” can be proof we need that all went as well as you wanted and hoped

Cool and creative 🙂 Just what real mentors strive to elicit from their students, btw.

Ron Fournier gets called on his b.s. “pox on both houses” along w/ all media trying to do the false equivalence BS.

Polls are fun and can be important. But when journalists think the public is wrong, they have an obligation to say so.

A new Business Insider-SurveyMonkey Audience poll has found that Americans know shockingly little about the budget, federal deficits, and major top-line economic indicators. We asked about 500 respondents to write in an estimate of several different statistics, including the U.S. deficit.
This year the Congressional Budget Office expects it to be $642 billion, down from $1.087 trillion in 2012. That’s the lowest it’s been in five years.

    Does America realize that? Nope……

Public polls are a fine gauge of public opinion, but they’re not to be treated as a barometer of reality. Pretending otherwise mixes up the regurgitated misinformation of readers with the careful analysis of people who are in the business of busting misinformation.

If that’s not serving up false equivalence, what is?

So right. The reason Fox, rightie media echo chamber and MSM love Polls in the era of pres Obama.

They allow lies to live in the ethos. Then they don’t correct the lies. Then they go out and take polls. Then they feed 24/7 on the polls to drive their narrative.

Today, Jake Tapper implied that the media has a liberal bias. Blitzer is telling POTUS to postpone ACA for a year. Erin Burnett per Media Matters said two days ago, that it was hyperbolic to say that without raising the debt ceiling, US would default. She claimed that US could still pay half to 3/4 of her bills.

it seems John Harwood has had enough of the GOP shenanigans. I’m happy he has the courage for speaking out. I thanked him on twitter and told him I hope he convince some colleagues of his.

He used to be a better journalist. He left WSJ as Murdoch was about to purchase the paper. I think that CNBC colored his judgement. Now seeing what is happening, he is finally seeing his old self? I hope.

During the impeachment of Bill Clinton, Republicans were pretty unpopular. After eight years of George W. Bush, same. But never in the history of Gallup polling has the party been more unpopular than it is right now.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The Republican Party is now viewed favorably by 28% of Americans, down from 38% in September. This is the lowest favorable rating measured for either party since Gallup began asking this question in 1992.

I said the other day that PBO must have some internals on how this was being perceived. Rand Paul whispered to McTurtle that he didn’t think PBO had poll tested his message, silly man.

    hi TOD!

As we stand behind the President here’s a nice little respite.

I saw this on Bill Moyer’s last night. I didn’t know this guy existed! I’m such a luddite.

Anyways, his name is Wendell Berry an older gentleman who writes poetry and enviornmentalist. I just got a kick out of him. Here’s the link if you care to listen

Do it, Harry! Save America from GOP Destruction.

    • October 9, 2013 at 10:14 pm

Bill, Harry would have to be sure of 51 votes and this would get it through the Senate, but how will it get to the House floor?

      • October 9, 2013 at 10:20 pm

It would put enormous pressure on Boehner + the pressure he is receiving from the capital and equity markets, Jackie.

And, it would make it beyond any reasonable doubt that those Senators and Reps even voting NO would be subject to violation of their Oath of Office re: Sec 4 of the 14th Amendment, i.e., they’d be criminals with their criminal actions logged into the Congressional Record.

could the discharge petition being circulated help?

either way, once again the world would be focused on the weeper of the house (not dems)

think about it, if Sen Reid uses the “nuclear option” :

        – it will be all over the news so people who are not paying attention can know which party is really obstructing (they can’t say Dems);

        – the person conducting the filibuster will likely be one of those tea party senators who think they are ready to run for POTUS (you know they may do it for spite & arrogance but this will ensure that they can NEVER be POTUS);

        – you can bet PBO would then come out and demand the republican house not cause an economic shutdown ( a chance to teach the ‘both sides’ people )

        – then additional PBO agenda that has been blocked can go foward

GOP doesn’t know what hit them – the Dems are holding together and fighting back like there is no tomorrow (an I really like it)

OFA call tonight with Austan Goolsbee. He said massive pressure from all of us will be needed to move Boehner to start ignoring the Tea Party Republicans.

Call (1-202-225-6205), tweet @SpeakerBoehner (#EnoughAlready), and/or FAX (1-202-225-5117) to demand a YES vote on passing the Senate CR to fund the government and also to raise the debt ceiling to pay bills already incurred. Time to end the Tea Party shutdown!

    Republicans Shut Down Prefrontal Cortex
    Posted by Andy Borowitz

Representative Bachmann agreed: “The President can go ahead and put a gun to our heads. There’s nothing there.”

While the G.O.P.’s decision to shut down the prefrontal cortex rattled Wall Street, the neuroscientist Davis Logsdon said it should be seen as little more than a symbolic vote, noting, “It’s actually been shut down since the 2008 election.”

    My favorite of the tweets:

“Obama is so fancy … ”

And the fact that after John Harwood (at least according to most of his tweets I’ve seen since) interviewed Pres. Obama and was covered with the magical Obama dust, he is a changed man. So funny.

won’t last long, trust me. it’s part of their game. scott pelley at CBS does the same thing. if these white-privileged guys keep going with too much of that talk, the billionaire owners will fire them. all will be back to normal in the “reporting” once this republican-created “crisis” is resolved. i’ve seen this play before…
