It’s not ObamaCare or any other law, policy, or political agenda.
You are defending the Office of the Presidency from an unprecedented assault by a cabal of plutocrats and their minions in government, and the under-educated, fear and hate-driven citizens they have brainwashed – via our failed press, broadcast hate radio, and newstainment TV/Cable.
Any conciliatory action toward Mr Boehner, Mr McConnell and the cabal would do irreparable damage.
Thus, it may be that we get very, very close to a default (with attendant downgrade, etc.) before Mr Boehner begins honoring his Oath of Office. Perhaps we have to endure an extended shutdown.
Of course, such events would have dire consequences, but nothing compared to what would happen to the Office of the Presidency and Our Democracy without your unflinching insistence that Congress perform its two fundamental Constitutional duties – pass a budget, pay its bills.
Not since 1861 have we seen a more determined effort to undermine America.
As more and more Americans get that, they are rallying behind you Mr President.
Mr Boehner and his Tea Party extortionists (and the plutocrats who own them) have not only gone way out on limb, they’ve poisoned it. We will prune that dead branch from the Liberty tree in 2014.
Between now and then, until they relent, no compromise.
Let’s Hope so Bob! On the other hand, if the Democrats can’t get 18 Republicans to join them in requesting a discharge petition to vote on a clean CR to re-open the government, then i don’t want to hear all this talk about the so called sane and moderate Republicans in Congress who are blaming the tea party for the government shut-down. I repeat, if Democrats can’t get at least 18 Republicans to join them to re-open the government, then the entire Republican party must be held accountable for shutting down the government! This is the time for all the sane and courageous Republicans, who are not afraid of the tea baggers, to step up and be counted for their courage and dedication to preserving the Constitution. By the way the same goes for all the Democrats.
I think that the President’s strong stance on this along with Pelosi and Reid taking a similar stance has energized and encouraged the DEMS in Congress to stand together….it is Imperative that they do…

Bob, I’ve been praying that Miller is right. I’m going to be making daily calls to the DC and regional offices of the two R congressmen in our area who publicly brayed that they would vote for a clean CR. If they don’t join with this, I’m going to make sure there are a lot of local Dems who start calling them for what they are–liars and traitors. We don’t want to be assuaged with ‘promises,’ we want them to act or all the attendant suffering will be on them.
So the GOP will pay people for not working – but will not pay people to work – it’s past mad, past insanity – incomprehensible – and some of them are supposedly educated
My sister, who is working during the shutdown for the FBI, said she will have to continue working without pay–this bill says they will be paid retroactively when the shutdown is over. No pay while they’re not working. Not a paid vacation. She still can’t make her house and car payment until the shutdown is over.
This is madness, Pam S. I wish the House would set up a fund for those who ARE working during the shut down to get paid now. It’s beyond reason that people working everyday at an important job risk losing their house and car because Republicans in Congress decide to act stupid.
Cnbc has an article saying 99% if applications were troubled!
If that’s true, Limbaugh followers are messing that website up.
They need more than one website.
Good morning sir!
Really important ….
I will light a candle for this one Bob – that it happens and soon

Thank you 99!!!!!!
Thank you – your positive optimism is so appreciated.
My letter to the President:
4 Oct 2013
Dear Mr President,
Ordinary folk like me get what you are defending.

Of course, such events would have dire consequences, but nothing compared to what would happen to the Office of the Presidency and Our Democracy without your unflinching insistence that Congress perform its two fundamental Constitutional duties – pass a budget, pay its bills.

Bob

Well done, Jackie. This is exactly what is required!!!

Not enough – but I’m glad federal employees won’t have to suffer any longer. The whole thing is unnecessary.
So the GOP will pay people for not working – but will not pay people to work – it’s past mad, past insanity – incomprehensible – and some of them are supposedly educated
It is truly twisted, 99.
I definitely want our fantastic Federal workers not to suffer. They should be paid because they are victims of a vile coup attempt. But, that said ….
My sister, who is working during the shutdown for the FBI, said she will have to continue working without pay–this bill says they will be paid retroactively when the shutdown is over. God give me strength to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
President Obama has the strength, the courage and the wisdom. The GOP scores 0 from 3.

OK – In another world – I HATE when donations have to cover what the government refuses to pay for
http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-10-05/climate-council-has-sufficient-funding-to-operate-for-a-year/5000822
New government in Oz shut down the climate council. Now running on donations. All that money saved – tax cur for the wealthy.
Any updates on the current ACA registration levels? Do you expect an uptick or taper this weekend?

Good morning sir!
GM jovie. Hope you’re bouncing back along with your puppy.
cnbc clowns? Nevah. Methinks it’s a software glitch and they will sort it out.
I read somewhere that WH team does not want to raise expectations until ACA goes fully operational next year.
GM Jovie.
CNBC ratings are down in the dumps. They scored their lowest ratings in 20 yrs this past quarter.
That’s the key, he’s in charge of nuclear ambitions .
