I really appreciated the fact that Pres O delivery was consistently calm – even when Harwood TRIED to interrupt.

      October 2, 2013 at 5:16 pm

Of course, I resented Harwood (that’s his name, right?) trying to say Pres O wasn’t exasperated enough in his voice/manner. ๐Ÿ™„

You noticed Hardwood tried to interrupt when President Obama was making the point that congress has two constitutional obligations. Create a budge and pay our bills. THAT’S THEIR JOB. At the bare minimum they should be able to do that. And as PBO said yesterday you don’t get to extract a ransom just to do your freaking job. Or because you just don’t like a particular law.

I noticed, LadyH. I wasn’t impressed with him at all, but then I never watch these things to see these dolts anyway.

There must be an extraordinary level of cognitive dissonance being felt by some Republicans right now – those who voted for Romney thinking he would repeal Obamacare on day 1, while now busy signing up on the exchanges….

And in light of these emerging positive stories, the GOP TeaNuts are going to sound dumber and dumber if they keep saying they want to take it away.

wow John Harwood is rather a dick.. talking to POTUS about HIS โ€œtoneโ€ ?? good grief.. he ought to hear my tone- daily about these CRAVEN STUPID AWFUL LOW-DOWN DIRTY Republiskunks and the HELL they are intentionally putting citizens of this country through. Heโ€™s lucky POTUS is so dang kindโ€ฆ Iโ€™d have swatted him off his smug little chair.

You see…..they allow the TBGOPers and the idjits in the press to use any old tone against president Obama. POTUS has to take it……I guess in their wicked minds.

They Never ever ask Chris Christie about his Tone. Do they?

      • 71 sherijr
        October 2, 2013 at 5:48 pm

Yep, this is why I hardly ever listen/watch videos of interviews of POTUS, because they infuriate me- the disgusting rudeness of these pri*ks isn’t worth it. I know what POTUS has to say- because he’s consistent. They might as well just have John McCain or Eric Cantor do their interviews.

    • October 2, 2013 at 5:56 pm

I’m furious about that question and the way he plays the race card. SICKENING assumptions that are absolutely not supported by any evidence whatsoever.

        October 2, 2013 at 5:58 pm

oh yeah, agree… that shit about white people hating Obamacare is a total made up crock.. he pulled that one outta his arse, meta.

        October 2, 2013 at 6:04 pm

As I have always said……the 98% of so called Journos who cover this POTUS have subconscious and bent out of shape subtle racial animus against this president. Then they run around and imply that POTUS is playing the race card. They bring it up when they want negative narrative and then deny race when they see others using horrific words.

        October 2, 2013 at 6:18 pm

The most generous interpretation is that Hardwood wanted the President to have a chance to debunk the myth that the ACA is aimed at helping minorities.

    • October 2, 2013 at 5:57 pm

Will watch later if I can bear Harwood’s smugness (which is pretty much all the DC echo-chamber has going for it now; can’t bear to even read their tweets — feel stupider after I read them).

      But really???

How many times did he caution GWB on his tone?

And look what a mess GWB left for President Obama and the rest of the country.

Well said Sherijr! By the way, President Obama can’t win with either the tea baggers, the mainstream media, or the “holier than thou” liberal leftists. David Corn, at the liberal “Mother Jones,” tells the President to unleash his angry Black man diatribe against the insane Republicans; John Harwoood, however, representing the mainstream media, thinks that the President’s tone, pointing out the unprecedented insanity of the teabag faction leading the Republicans in the House of Representatives that engineered a government shut-down, was too harsh on Republicans.

In any case, I think President Obama was his usual brilliant self in this interview with John Harwood! The PRESIDENT, handled Harwood’s snarky questions with calm, resolve and reasonableness.

hello Nath- absolutely agree with you… he never fails to be perfect in these interviews.. because its all natural, who he is.. and I love listening to his thoughtful answers.. I just cannot bear the idiocy of the media personalities, thus I usually don’t watch these interviews. But as usual POTUS was the only gentleman and the only grown up.

POTUS was certainly ‘spry and spiffy’ of voice. I was sooooooo tickled by the utter confidence of his voice, particularly at the moments when he was interrupted. He oh so calmly continued what he was saying, with determination and….power. I tell you, some of you ‘flip’ at the way PBO looks, but I’m a voice (as in good, confident, intelligent, speaker) person.

      • October 2, 2013 at 11:31 pm

That is the very quality makes Harwood feel so small bec he has to confront why he can never be President! PBO is all any of them could ever be and it makes them feel inadequate!

  14. October 2, 2013 at 5:45 pm

All the #Emotarians and other fools roaming the intertubes speculating President Obama will ‘cave’ or ‘negotiate’ re: opening the Government or paying the bills should just watch that interview and listen.

We are now going to see what happens when the guy who got OBL looks at Boehner and McConnell and says – ‘I will never allow any faction of any party to extract ransom by threatening default or closure of the Federal Government. …. Make my day.’

Every congress member who voted to shut down the government should have to give up their government sponsored health care for themselves and their family members while the government is shut down.

Any Congress member who violated their oath and voted to shut down the government should simply step down. I could care less what they do with themselves or their families. Leave the governing to people who actually want to work for their constituents.

If any of you have been watching CSPAN in the last hour, you will notice that the DEMs seem even MORE resolved, more confident, more determined to not budge at any further request put by the GOP. If it means this shutdown will last for 2+ weeks, then that is what will have to happen.

I also believe that the media is noticing the same thing and as a result is becoming increasingly anxious – hence MSNBC’s instigation of their wishful thinking “cave” narrative, that some emoprogs have foolishly ran away with.

    • 101 theo67
      October 2, 2013 at 9:30 pm

I’m not watching CSPAN, but I believe when they saw their leader (i.e. President Obama) taking the GOP to the woodshed, it emboldened them. They all know this is a fight worth fighting, and that the country’s very democracy is at stake.

    Hi Folks

I’m out and about today – looking for a retirement home – and the next couple of weeks in the US will probably determine whether or not the money we have to buy one disappears down the hole with the GOP – or is saved by your President and the democrats. Our current abode is out in the ‘burbs, getting old, too far from anywhere & costing the earth to maintain (when you can find someone for doing the maintain)

What I have said before – and am entirely sick of is the GOP using war as their reason for being – even with the current impasse – the GOP is using vet affairs and a war memorial in its attempt to blackmail the American People. It is like they celebrate war, the dead, and the unborn incessantly – yet the young, the old and the living are trash at their feet.

If it wasn’t 8am in the morning I would think I am drunk with anger – maybe I haven’t sobered up from yesterday. It’s been good to read all the positive issues about the ACA at TOD – shame the media has forgotten about it – guess the computers must have been working well today – sigh

    • 106 99ts
      October 2, 2013 at 6:07 pm

And another thing that annoys me – other than the President’s speeches – EVERY video I see is one member of the media interviewing another member of the media – surely that must realize in their current form no sane person wants to talk to any of them – the US media is to blame for at least 50% of the GOP’s attitude.

Obamacare Glitches Are Realโ€”and Matter Less Than You Think

    BY JONATHAN COHN

    —————————————-

Republicans and their allies are reveling in Obamacareโ€™s implementation glitches. But their solution isnโ€™t to provide people with some easier, quicker, and more reliable source of insurance. Itโ€™s to replace a system that has some early, fixable technological problems with no system at all. Itโ€™s to stop people from getting health insuranceโ€”and take it away from those, like Mr. Stryker, who are already getting it. That’s a tough sell.

With every day, more and more people are discovering that Obamacare is a source of securityโ€”and a way to get the heath care they have always needed. This is the reality Republicans have always feared. Confronted with the reality of Obamacare, rather than the rightโ€™s distorted version of it, people will cherish it.

Anyone remember the time rodent Cantor was invited to the White House as part of the leadership team and what happened to his pompous self?

Well, based on the media reports of the encounter, that rodent Cantor attempted to disrespect PBO with some rude direct confrontation .

PBO put a stop to that disrespect in a few choice words (and possibly a look) with a push back that pest said : “startled him”.

I doubt he will ever try that nonsense again.

As for the Weeper of the House, I hope he remembers when he arrogantly said that he got 90 (95?)% of what he wanted – after another negotiation with PBO

I had little problem with the interview. The tone question: It gave the president and inadvertently, Harwood contributed to it, the opportunity to remind people that he IS a rock on this issue, that he is rightly exasperated with the shenanigans of the repubs. It is amazing to me so many Americans think both sides are to blame. I had to explain it to my grown daughters. Did you hear what he said? It is ONLY after the pass that clean CR that he will talk about the budget, or anything dealing with healthcare improvements, not repeal or defund. To me , that is Boehner’s out.
