Comedy chat – The genius of “Cinema Sins”

Second in a series of my favorite YouTube snark masters, Cinema Sins has never met a movie it couldn’t trash. Even ones it likes.

The basic premise is breaking down in 6-8 minutes all the cinematic malfeasance it can find in any given movie. So, enjoy, and chat away.

Chronicles of Riddick

X2: X-Men United

Independence Day

Battleship

Transformers

Superman Returns

Yes, I chose movies I generally disliked. But even the ones I liked are funny.

For their complete oeuvre, go here.

Thanks for the fun, new thread, LL.

Had just finished posting my response in the previous thread to tnmtngirl’s concerns so am copying it here:

“tn, I’ll try to say this as gently as possible – On 4 Nov 2008, we knew the 3rd Reconstruction had been launched. We knew the unfinished business of finishing the Civil War stood before us. We then succeeded in re-electing President Obama and knew that this day would come.

For 6 months the GOP, with budget bills passed in both House and Senate, blocked all efforts to go to Conference. They intentionally have made this their last stand. They know that if they fail, the 3rd Reconstruction will not only continue, but their Confederacy will forever be rendered irrelevant. The demographics of America will overwhelm them and the quality of the middle class will expand.

Understand that you are afraid. But, we are not going to stand down. If they want a prolonged battle, we absolutely must take it to them.

It’s all on the line and the line is as clear as it can be. President Obama is not and will not ‘cave’ on this issue because if he did our Constitutional democracy would end.”

    • October 2, 2013 at 8:14 pm

Thanks, Bob. As kk said, it isn’t that I don’t trust our President. I do!!!!!!!!!! But, these people are totally crazy. That’s what I am worried about, especially the debt ceiling. I do believe the TP gang do not care and do not understand the seriousness of pushing that. I do understand that PO can’t and won’t cave because of what it would do to our Constitutional democracy.

      • October 2, 2013 at 8:50 pm

Thank you, tnmtngirl. Understand your perspective.

Fact is, the ‘TP’ in the House & Senate know exactly what they are doing. As noted in the tweet below, we are seeing as transparent a Coup d’Etat as any that have happened. They want to subvert our entire democratic system of government and if President Obama pays ransom they don’t win some skirmish, they win the war.

Yes, we are in the middle of a Constitutional crisis, determining whether our country will continue to be a republic, or a plutocracy. The question here is about more than Obamacare or funding, it is whether or not we will continue to honor the will of the majority…..accept the results of elections…..or be ruled by extortion. Friedman had an excellent op-ed on this subject this morning.
I keep remembering President Obama is a constitutional scholar, and he understands well the ramifications of this extortionate demand. I think many people are going to have to get very uncomfortable and angry before the Republicans give in. They truly do want to destroy the government and reduce us to anarchy. They are not libertarians, they are nihilists.
It is scary when people who are supposed to govern us want to destroy everything we have worked for over 200 years. This stoppage will have to start affecting people with money and clout, not just the poor and working class for there to be any movement. I know that’s not exactly optimistic, but this has been coming for fifty years or more, since Goldwater.

      • October 2, 2013 at 8:52 pm

“This stoppage will have to start affecting people with money and clout, not just the poor and working class for there to be any movement. I know that’s not exactly optimistic, but this has been coming for fifty years or more, since Goldwater.”

        In_deed, Carolyn.

And, with what we are seeing from the Chamber to many local newspapers in Red regions of the Nation, lots of folk know that the #Teabaggers and their #KOCHMasters must be stopped, now.

Regrettably,Jojothecat, that’s not possible! It’s on only “We the People” who can remove them from office, hopefully in 2014. Unfortunately, by the time the 2014 elections come around they would have already inflicted such an immense damage to the country.

Rep Mark Pocan (WI CD 2) is on live, CSPAN, reading through the list of 18 Republicans who have already stated unambiguously that they will vote FOR a clean CR if Boehner will bring it to a vote.

Loving the way the DEMS are taking it to Boehner and the Tea Party.

    • October 2, 2013 at 8:08 pm

    • October 2, 2013 at 8:12 pm

why did the “Mod” GOP members vote against the appeal put forth by the DEMS…which could have allowed the DEMS to bring the Senate bill to the floor….this would have been their chance to vote on the clean CR….I think all that talk about GOP voting for a clean CR is bogus.

      • October 2, 2013 at 8:27 pm

Because Boehner did not bring the Senate CR to the floor. Those Rs aren’t going to vote in the affirmative until Boehner leads … at least for now. We keep applying the heat and they may break with him even before the #teabaggers do.

        Keep the pressure, intensifying.

    Another yardarm e-mail.

Yesterday my daughter e-mailed me again asking why I didn’t do something useful with my
time. Like sitting around the pool and drinking wine is not a good
thing. Talking about my “doing something useful” seems to be her favorite topic of
conversation. She was “only thinking of me” and suggested I go down to the senior center and hang out with the guys. I did this and when I got home last night I decided to teach
her a lesson about staying out of my business.

I e-mailed her and told her that I had joined a parachute club.

She replied, “Are you nuts? You are about 72 years old, and now you’re going to
start jumping out of airplanes?” I told her that I even got a membership card
and e-mailed a copy to her.

She immediately telephoned me, “Good grief, where are your glasses! This is a
membership to a Prostitute Club, not a Parachute Club.”

“Oh man, I’m in trouble again; I really don’t know what to do now… I signed up for
five jumps a week.” The line went quiet and her friend picked up the phone and
    said that she had fainted.

Life as a senior citizen is not getting any easier but sometimes it can be fun.

I know that O-bots need no reminder that tomorrow is Barack and Michelle’s 21st wedding anniversary.

Also the 1st year anniversary of the official emoprog “jump off the ship” first Presidential debate in Denver; which we all know gave us the President’s memorable “Please proceed, Governor” and “horses and bayonettes” later in October 2012.

Here’s my teeny gift to the Obama’s a story by Andrew Romano after the first inaugural that stayed with me.

“My hunch is that millennials are going gaga over Barack and Michelle because they want to be Barack and Michelle.”

Something the dwindling 23% of US bigots cannot understand.

So I am at our biggest Infectious Disease meeting where experts from NIH and CDC are supposed to give informative talks this week, and their stuff has been cancelled because of shutdown. Ridiculous! it is one of our biggest meetings, lots of doctors and researchers collaborating on things like HIV, TB, malaria, the newer viruses, and learning from each other. It keeps us on top of our game. When I saw that cancer treatments are being cancelled because of furloughed NIH staff, for patients who probably have no other treatment options. What the hell!!! This is about peoples’ lives! I called my congressman, left a message for boehner. I don’t know what else to do.

Some people may not be signing up because they thought the govt shutdown stopped Obamacare

    http://www.courant.com/health/connecticut/hc-day1-ct-health-exchange-1002-20131001,0,66422.story

    “…Yes, It’s Open

Although some people had no problem signing up, there was some general confusion Tuesday about the state of Obamacare.

Malik Shabazz, 46, who was waiting Tuesday morning at a bus stop at the New Haven Green, said he thought the government shutdown voided the Affordable Care Act — a sentiment echoed by others interviewed nearby. Shabazz said he supports the law if it helps people get coverage. He has Medicaid for this wife, 10-year-old son and 1-year-old daughter.

One sad irony, he said, is that his wife has worked 17 years as a home health care aide and she doesn’t have health insurance through work. Shabazz, a truck driver, said he also doesn’t have coverage available to him through work.

“I just try to prevent going to the hospital … I stay away from stuff that’s not good for the body because I can’t afford it,” Shabazz said….”
