[Seems to be under “control” in Nairobi]:

Kenyan security forces say they are in the final stages of clearing the Westgate shopping complex in Nairobi, and ending the deadly three-day siege.

Explosions and heavy gunfire were reported earlier as soldiers stormed the mall, where suspected al-Shabab militants are thought to be holed up.

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) said three “terrorists” had been killed and all escape routes sealed off.

Flames and thick smoke continued to rise from the complex as darkness fell.

On the Cycle they are discussing whether PBO will ” shake hands ” with the Iranian President…..with Chuck Todd….

oh no………….How long has it been since an American President shook hands with an Iranian President Chuck ? Was is back in 1979 ?

    Oh no…say Chuckie….it was before that !

    • 28 vcprezofan2
      September 23, 2013 at 3:40 pm

Why wonder if PBO will shake hands? Didn’t the president state his opinion on this years ago

“To those who cling to power through corruption and deceit and the silencing of dissent, know that you are on the wrong side of history, but that WE WILL EXTEND A HAND IF YOU ARE WILLING TO UNCLENCH YOUR FIST” B. H. Obama/Jan. 2009

A very good quote to pull out, VC. They still don’t understand this President.

          September 23, 2013 at 3:53 pm

I actually think that if we had the time to research, Theo, we could probably find that this president has already answered a lot of the questions our MSM is only beginning to ask. Even questions that they only ask just to be contrary.

          • 31 theo67
            September 23, 2013 at 4:41 pm

He’s answered questions they don’t even know to ask, and questions they’re too stupid to ask…

            • 32 vcprezofan2
              September 23, 2013 at 4:49 pm

              Yes, he has.

It’s one of the reasons I find them so ridiculous and ignorant! Because they don’t bother to do any research and because they always come at him in that confrontational manner, as if they expect to ‘stump’ him, they will forever be a couple of steps behind the real narrative within the ocuntry.

              • 33 theo67
                September 23, 2013 at 4:55 pm

Many more than just a “couple of steps behind”, unfortunately. Thank heavens for alternative media forms for us to get our information.

        • September 23, 2013 at 4:47 pm

They don’t understand common courtesy either, Theo. At a time when you are promoting delicate promotions that might turn the situation around in the ME, you don’t gratuitously snub the leader of the country you are hoping will cooperate with you. Childish behavior belongs on the playground along with Chuck Toddler and his crew. In the grown up world, people behave like civilized adults.

  14. September 23, 2013 at 3:27 pm

Well, well well, looks like the entire Iranian leadership, past and present is flooding the zone for diplomacy with US to work. Pulled out all the stops for this Obama-wooing mission.

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service says an official at the center of the agency’s tea party scandal is retiring.

Lois Lerner headed the IRS division that handles applications for tax-exempt status when she was placed on paid leave in May. While she was in charge, the agency acknowledged that agents improperly targeted tea party groups for extra scrutiny when they applied for tax-exempt status from 2010 to 2012.

Wasn’t she the one who set up the “question” at a seminar that started this nonsense. Would be interesting to know what she thought she would achieve and/or who was behind what she did.

Do you have a link Linda – that comment is SO written to pretend their was targeting when none existed!

This is a partial answer to one of us on the last thread who expressed concern about non-internet savvy folks accessing ACA.
Walgreen’s starting on October 1 will have telephone counseling available to answer questions and help people sign up.
How this works, I have no clue. Something about GoHealth, their “trusted partner.”
    I applaud the effort.

[I understand my invite to FLOTUS’ luncheon tomorrow will be delivered as soon as I get hitched to a Head of State or Chief of State early tomorrow morning! We separate & divorce with immediate effect right afterwards! LOL! 🙂 ]:

Mrs. Obama will attend the President’s UN address, then host an afternoon luncheon for the spouses of Chiefs of State and Heads of Government, the East Wing said. The affair will be at The Studio Museum in Harlem, which Mrs. Obama toured in September of 2011. (above, with Director and Chief Curator Thelma Golden)

Founded in 1968, the museum is “a leading institution devoted to artists of African descent,” the East Wing said. Against the dramatic backdrop of the museum’s vast permanent collection spanning 200 years of history, Mrs. Obama will deliver remarks, then treat her guests to a program of artistic performances, which will include acclaimed singer/actress Audra McDonald.

The Broadway star sang at the White House in February of this year, during the President and Mrs. Obama’s annual black tie dinner for the nation’s Governors. McDonald has “a record-tying five Tony Awards and two Grammy Awards,” said the East Wing. “Her theater credits include Carousel, Master Class, Ragtime, A Raisin in the Sun, and The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess, among others.”

Also scheduled to perform are members of the chamber music class at LaGuardia Arts High School, and students and Company members from Dance Theatre of Harlem, the East Wing said.

[Boner is going to head to the nearest Saloon! Nancy has a plan on immigration.]:

[…..] Instead, Pelosi’s plan (which is not finalized) would take the Senate Judiciary Committee bill and add another measure — sponsored by GOP Rep. Michael McCaul and Dem Rep. Bennie Thompson — that sets out clear border security benchmarks and calls for the meeting of those metrics to be consulted on by a number of key stakeholders.

That measure passed the House Homeland Security Community with unanimous bipartisan support.Pelosi’s likely new move comes after it emerged last week that the House gang of seven bipartisan talks to produce comprehensive reform fell apart.

The reliance of Pelosi on a plan that passed the Senate committee with bipartisan support — with a House border security amendment that won bipartisan support attached to it — is designed to increase pressure on Republicans to act in the House or reveal themselves unwilling to support anything remotely comprehensive in the way of solutions to a problem House GOP leaders themselves have acknowledged must be dealt with.

I agree, Gazelle. The smart money bet the election of our humane President would change the face of diplomacy, inspire democracy and give peace a chance. That’s why he received the Nobel Peace Prize. Imagine what might have happened had Congress housed patriots instead of anarchist.

Sharing a couple of comments from JuanitaJean.com re Obamacare misinformation…. comments were linked to this post

    Miss Prissybritches says:

There is so much mis-information out there it is incredible. I got into an argument with a Republican woman circulating a Petition from the Taylor County Republican Party to repeal Obamacare at the West Tx Fair and Rodeo. Poor ditz didn’t even know, think, or understand that the Affordable Care Act was law. Stood there and argued with me for 5 minutes about how it wasn’t the law. Guess Fox News didn’t carry the video feed from the big signing ceremony that day.

    Lucy says:
    September 23, 2013 at 1:01 pm

I received the same letter. First I nearly cried and then I was furious. No wonder the Republicans are trying so hard to stop this. I am paying $600 a month with a $7500 deductible in the Texas Health Insurance Pool. What really got me was “THIP (TX Health Insurance Pool – preexisting condition). premiums, by law, are twice the cost of individual policies in the private market.”

Coz I don’t care if I am last, I bought one this morning while I was shopping, and cried all the way through reading it this afternoon! How very well done, pictures make one for the guys to add to their bookshelves!! 🙂
