ObamaCare In Action

IMG_00061

****

If it weren’t for Obamacare, I’d be forty pounds heavier, and forty-eleven thousand percent crazier.

Because of Obamacare, I was able to enroll in the California Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan back in January so I could resume taking the medication I need to keep this goddamn tumor in my head from excreting all the crayzo hormones which made me depressed, anxious, agoraphobic, and overweight — medication I had to stop taking after my COBRA ran out 6 months prior. Now I’m fortunate enough to have healthcare through my employer. But so many don’t. And so many who don’t are sick, whether physically, mentally, or some combination of the two.

More of this fantastic commentary here

    There’s a lesson here I’m sure. 😆

    Goodbye, Grandpa

A father put his 3 year old daughter to bed, told her a story and listened
to her prayers which ended by saying, “God bless Mommy, God bless Daddy, God
    bless Grandma, and good-bye Grandpa.”

The father asked, ‘Why did you say good-bye Grandpa?’

… The little girl said, “I don’t know daddy, it just seemed like the thing
    to do.”

The next day grandpa died. The father thought it was a strange coincidence.

A few months later the father put the girl to bed and listened to her
prayers which went like this, “God bless Mommy, God Bless Daddy and good-bye
    Grandma.”

The next day the grandmother died.

“Holy crap” thought the father, “this kid is in contact with the other
    side.”

Several weeks later when the girl was going to bed, the dad heard her say,
“God bless Mommy and good-bye Daddy.”

He practically went into shock. He couldn’t sleep all night and got up at
the crack of dawn to go to his office. He was nervous as a cat all day, had
    lunch and watched the clock.

He figured if he could get by until midnight he would be okay. He felt safe
in the office, so instead of going home at the end of the day he stayed
there, drinking coffee, looking at his watch and jumping at every sound.
Finally midnight arrived; he breathed a sigh of relief and went home.

When he got home his wife said, “I’ve never seen you work so late. What’s
    the matter?”

He said, “I don’t want to talk about it, I’ve just spent the worst day of my
    life.”

She said, “You think you had a bad day, you’ll never believe what happened
to me. This morning my golf pro dropped dead in the middle of my lesson!”

Arapaho, I did see your response to me regarding tweets about Reagan and the damage he did. Those helped, but there was another one that had his picture on the right side and there was a list of the damaging things he did. I ‘think’ it was a tweet from someone, but not 100% sure. Thanks for remembering and looking for those and sharing.

Going out to the grocery store. Will check back in a bit………

About as succinct as it gets.

Yet rich textures throughout; personal stories could sustain cable news for months, if they weren’t so dimwitted and beholding to GOP/ corporate/ 1% interest.

    Another chuckle at the half.

Subject: Bothel sues local church over lightning strike!

MT. VERNON, TEXAS … WHOREHOUSE SUES LOCAL CHURCH OVER LIGHTNING STRIKE!

Diamond D’s brothel began an expansion of their building to increase their ever-growing business. In response, the local Baptist Church started a campaign to block the expansion — with morning, afternoon, and evening prayer sessions at their church.

Work on Diamond D’s progressed right up until the week before the grand reopening when lightning struck the whorehouse and burned it to the ground!

After the cat-house was burned to the ground by the lightning strike, the church folks were rather smug in their outlook, bragging about “the power of prayer.”

But late last week ‘Big Jugs’ Jill Diamond, the owner/madam, sued the church, the preacher and entire congregation on the grounds that the church … “was ultimately responsible for the demise of her building and her business — either through direct or indirect divine actions or means.”

In its reply to the court, the church vehemently and voraciously denied any and all responsibility or any connection to the building’s demise.

The crusty old judge read through the plaintiff’s complaint and the defendant’s reply, and at the opening hearing he commented, “I don’t know how the hell I’m going to decide this case, but it appears from the paperwork, that we now have a whorehouse owner who staunchly believes in the power of prayer, and an entire church congregation that thinks it’s all bullshit.

Under a new president, Iran is Coming to America.

    • September 22, 2013 at 3:27 pm

This should be an interesting week. If only we had a responsible media to report these historic events…

      • September 22, 2013 at 3:50 pm

@LRozen RT’s a lot. Many of her RT’s include links to various points of view, so I find her timeline very educational (I know virtually nothing about the complex cultures and history of the cradle of civilization — but loved Greek myths as a child – LOL),

She apparently doesn’t sleep (or gets by on less than 4 hours sleep). On Saturday morning she tweeted at 12:20 am; her next tweet was at 3:46 am.

    • September 22, 2013 at 3:36 pm

And not realistic to talk to Iran without Russia:

“ROUHANI (VOICE OF TRANSLATOR): We are very worried about war in our region. We have the experience of a number of destructive wars in this region. The day we feel a new war is about to happen in our region, we consider its destructive consequences. In the past few weeks, my government made many efforts to ensure that the region does not witness a new war. In this context, the cooperation between Russia and Iran has been notable.”

But despite the kudos that Ann Curry received last week, she’s still GOP/corporate talking points media (agree that NBC should be ashamed of their treatment of a professional like Ann, yet continue to prop up the cretinous upChuck “politics is reporting on campaigns” Todd:

CURRY: But so many Americans feel, many others around the world feel President Obama looked weak. What do you say about President Obama and the United States’ position in striking a deal with Russia?

      next question…

CURRY: As you well know, President Obama sent a very strong message in an interview on Sunday in that your government, quote, “shouldn’t draw a lesson from this deal that the U.S. wouldn’t strike Iran.” Mr. President, is a credible threat of force necessary for Iran to come to a nuclear deal with the United States?

WTH? First our President is weak, and then in the next breath, he sent a message of “credible threat of force.” Wish MSM were held accountable for their well-lubricated weather vane flip-flops.

The questions Need Not make sense……….so we have been conditioned to believe, right?

There are no stupid questions…..Hmm?…….Just wicked stupid answers. Yeah?

The Iranian president’s answer to the st question you posted was truly Brilliant. Now that’s an answer that is Smart!

But for Philadelphia, like the rest of America, the main problem is not these weapons. The problem is and always has been handguns and how they end up in criminals’ hands.

“But in 2012, 63 percent of all our crime guns were semiautomatic, high-capacity handguns. Twenty-four percent are revolvers..

One of them, Frank Lucas, represents the cong district next to mine. He is also the Congresman who traveled to Russia on a six day junket this summer and was given over $3,000 for food and lodging for those six days. I’ve also sent this info to a local TV channel asking them to investigate…….fat chance. But I wanted them to be aware that some of us know about his hypocrisy.

Journalism and Politics: Not Just A Twisted Reality Show

    By karoli

    ——————————-

Pay attention, Chuck Todd and David Gregory, because this discussion proves our claim about how the lies are allowed to be laid on the table without one journalist holding his or her nose.
    .
    .
See how that works? Just as Nicole Belle said in her earlier post, the discussion about the Affordable Care Act is viewed by so-called serious pundits as sport, as something that really wouldn’t have an impact on anyone. Look at how Jonathan Karl teased the whole segment earlier:

The shutdown showdown is on. And there’s the clock. Eight days till the government runs out of money. And right after that, the U.S. government faces default unless the Congress raises the debt ceiling. Battles ahead and we’ve got two of the key players right here. But first we asked ABC’s Jeff Zeleny to break it all down for us. Call it Washington’s own twisted reality show.

Agree with Spandan – “Drama Aside, Republicans Have Already Backed Down on Defunding Obamacare”

“But I digress. My point is, the drama you see on TV is all for show. The government isn’t going to shut down, and Obamacare is not going to be defunded. This isn’t a fight that’s “raging.” It’s already been conceded by not just the people who would have to stick by it to make it a real fight but by those who initiated it.

Obamacare is here to stay, and there is not a damn thing the Republicans or the Tea Party can do about it.”

    http://www.thepeoplesview.net/2013/09/republicans-have-already-backed-down.html

We aren’t going to have a shutdown and the President has already shutdown any notion that the #GOP will be allowed to force America to default.

What we do have, thanks to what Boehner allowed to happen last week, is YouTube video footage that will be pure gold for the Dems next year and in 2016.

    No words.

Something else that MSM can blame on Obama, an hour before he dons his well-worn comforter-in-chief hat.

I really wish Congress would do the frigging right thing and protect its citizens from so much senseless gun violence.

Not sure why two nutjobs from Minnesota and Kansas should be a problem for PBO?

      • September 22, 2013 at 4:53 pm

President Obama is not to blame for nutjobs anywhere.

But let the countdown begin for the RWNJs to begin a lockstep campaign that will fabricate some reason that it’s “Obama’s fault.”

This Nairobi incident is shocking in the huge toll of people and nationalities involving, among both victims and terrorists.

Ted Cruz Turns Obamacare Defunding Plan From Disaster to Utter Fiasco

    By Jonathan Chait

    ————————————-

In other words, the new stop-Obamacare plan now entails filibustering the defunders’ own bill. They can do this with just 41 votes in the Senate, if they can get them. But consider how terrible this situation is for the Republicans. If they fail, it will be because a handful of Republicans joined with Democrats to break the filibuster, betraying the defunders. This means the full force of the defund-Obamacare movement – which is itself very well funded by rabid grassroots conservatives eager to save the country from the final socialistic blow of Obamacare — will come down on the handful of Senate Republicans who hold its fate in their hands. The old plan at least let angry conservatives blame Democrats for blocking their goal of defunding Obamacare. Now the defunders can turn their rage against fellow Republicans, creating a fratricidal, revolution-eats-its-own bloodletting.
