I know they say ‘smile and the world smiles with you’, but tonight that’s somewhat hard to do.

My grandmother would add to that, ” … snore and you sleep alone.”

Just picturing her saying it made me smile!

UT – Thanks for the smiles. These are all priceless, and I’m so glad we all get what we have in the Obamas.

It’s very hard, vc. DC is my home. I now live in a DC suburb. The Navy Yard rents space to the public for different affairs – cabarets., receptions, etc. I attended several events there over the years. That particular area has been renovated over the last few years and the area is really nice.

I keep hearing the ER doctor speaking about her treating all the trauma patients. It was so sad. DC has strict gun laws, but people go right across the line to VA and buy them, bring them back and sell them illegally in DC. Sometimes if just seems like an impossible situation.

Hello Sabreen, sometimes it does seem to be an impossible situation to me too and I’m further away. {{Sabreen}} Today I’m feeling a bit better so I’m thinking we are just going to have to hold each other up when we start to bend under the strain of it and then soldier on.

    Congrats on 1st Carla!!!

Forgive my advocacy, but at times like this it’s the best I can do …

… off to the kitchen to try and prepare something that hopefully will have my dear wife smiling at the dinner table.

We’re finally back from the stunningly beautiful Canadian Rockies. What a tough day for our nation! Blessings to all those touched by tragedy in D.C. and around the world. It’s hard to fathom how President Obama keeps dealing with all these man-made and natural disasters, but thank all powers that be for his graceful and brilliant leadership!

Welcome back, Judith! I hope you enjoyed the Canadian Rockies. We’re definitely lucky to have President Obama at the helm.

I missed today’s happenings as they unfolded (work called) and getting them all together at the end has been weighty. Maybe tomorrow things will seem a bit brighter.

DonnaD, very happy to see you here and hope your night will be more restful and calm than your day.

    Good night, TODvillage!

Seriously demented – they expect the world to stand still because someone who can’t control his anger – or is mentally challenged – decides to use his 2nd amendment rights to kill. Sad as the killing is, I am glad the US has a President who can multi-task – unlike the idits in the WHPC.

It is hard to take all the hate and bile that comes out of their mouths – every single day. The President is a miracle walking that he doesn’t tell them all where to go.

Well, I think the President may “tell them all where to go,” every wonderful time he ignores the hell out of ’em! That works for me.

        • September 17, 2013 at 8:21 am

So, PBO was supposed to join in the manhunt? Just as he was supposed to parachute into Benghazi and personally carry out the attack on Bin Laden. These people are beyond fools. They’re bigoted fools. This is the president of the United States, not the mayor of DC.

But Good Morning, anyway, jackieG! Enjoy your day.

And then Chuck Todd gives a shout out to all those colleagues who worked so hard today, on air, reporting – I’m throwing up as I type – the President works harder than any of them – any day – and how about the services today, the LE, the ambulance workers, the hospital staff – ole Chuck thanks the media – is there no end to the stupid.

On September 12, a US Senate panel approved legislation designed to protect journalists from having to reveal their confidential sources. In order to do this, the panel had to define “journalist”. According to the proposed law, a journalist is “an employee, independent contractor or agent of an entity that disseminates news or information … [who has been] employed for one year within the last 20 years or three months within the last five years.”

    • September 17, 2013 at 6:58 am

Definition of Journalism according to Wikipedia…..Journalism is the activity, or product, of journalists or others engaged in the preparation of written, visual, or audio material intended for dissemination through public media with reference to factual, ongoing events of public concern. It is intended to inform society about itself and to make events public that would otherwise remain private.[1]

        Important issue..

how does all this relate to freedom the Press…

does just putting News in your name make you the press….if what you inform the people are lies and distortions do you deserve to be protected…

is theobamadiary.com.. part of the press…

the above article is re: the Senate taking up a bill to protect “journalists” from prosecution…so the Senate Panel attempts to define who is a journalist….notice that there is no mention of an educational requirement…

to me this definition warrants a look at….considering what the media/press has become…

        • September 17, 2013 at 7:08 am

I can’t support it if everyone who has a blog has a special privilege … or if Edward Snowden were to sit down and write this stuff, he would have a privilege. I’m not going to go there,” said Senator Diane Feinstein, in a statement Matt Drudge denounced as “fascist”.

yet Fox is allowed to have a space in the WHPC as if they are legitimate..

Indeed – after every shooting the President must cry for 5 days and do nothing to help the American people – and then the likes of Chuck Todd would complain because he is doing nothing about the economy. The media, being BFF with the GOP can only handle one topic at a time – it seems to have taken then a number of years to realize PBO is a person who can multi-task. They have a weird view of reality, where they think they know what the President should do, and why it is the opposite of everything he currently does.

As someone said in a tweet, it is to be hoped the President runs a campaign on the benefits of breathing.

        // begin rant

I am so sick of the media obsession with OPTICS as it relates to President Obama. No matter when he goes on vacation or when he plays golf, it is always at the wrong time. If he goes on a foreign trip there’s always a reason why (because of optics) he should not go. So I knew the gasbags were going to make a stink about ‘WHEN’ President Obama made his remarks and not delve into ‘WHAT’ he said.

After reflecting on the tragedy in D.C., President Obama gave the American people a history lesson on what his administration has done to improve the economy since the financial meltdown five years ago. Then he proceeded to rip the scab off of the Republican Party obstruction and intransigence. Whenever PBO does this, it enrages the media. A a shiny object was needed to divert attention from the cold hard facts coming from President Obama about an unhinged and deranged party bent on taking down the government. So WHEN the remarks were made took on more significance than WHAT he said. That’s our feckless media for you. That’s not journalism. That’s the media providing cover for their BFF in the GOP.

        // end rant

Good rant – and the media did NOT even give PBO the courtesy to listen to his words – or to pass them on to the people – they simply complained because he dared to discuss anything other than a sniper in DC.

      • September 17, 2013 at 8:34 am

The President’s remarks were entirely proper. And he said right off the bat that the FACTS were not all in. He did not engage in speculation and he did not make a spectacle of the situation, much to the dismay of the craven press.

I thought that Congress had just 5 working days left to pass bills for the Budget, Debt Ceiling, etc?

The same toad, CD would make snide remarks had pres Obama done the opposite. Their version of Journalism is In What Ways Can The Media Bass PBO 24/7…….meme.
