A battle weary American soldier boarded a crowded train in London during the early days of post-WWII, only to discover he was unable to find a place to sit. As he walked the length of the train, he noticed a small white dog curled up on one of the seats. A large, well dressed woman sat in the seat next to the dog. The man hovered near the seat, hoping the woman would take the hint, but she pointedly ignored him.

“Excuse me, Ma’am,” the soldier finally spoke, “Is this your dog? Would you mind holding it on your lap so that I may sit down?”

The woman raised her icy gaze to the young man and said in a haughty British accent, “oh! You Americans. You are so rude. Fluffy is in that seat, and I see no reason why she should give up her comfort for you.”

The exhausted soldier nodded, picked up the small dog … leaned over … opened the window of the moving train and tossed the dog out. The woman gaped and spluttered in horrified indignation, and the man sitting across from her lowered his newspaper.

“You Americans”, he said, “You do everything wrong. You drive on the wrong side of the road … you eat with the wrong fork … and you just threw the wrong bitch out the window.”

    Gunnite folks.

People are tired of all these shows filled with overpaid “analysts” pondering ad nauseaum about issues they’re not qualified to talk about. Folks just want to hear our President speak at this point. The original crossfire did well because there were far fewer shows like it at the time, and the discussions were more substantive and less about bashing one individual (in this case the President).

The truth is that America won’t be able to remain the sole superpower for long. President Obama has understood that for a long time and is working 1) for America to still have a lot of influence in this changing world and 2) to prevent that autocratic regimes like Russia and China acquire TOO MUCH global power.

Gingrich, the neocons, a good part of the whole foreign policy/military establishment don’t get it. They think about the next few years. President Obama thinks about the next century.

      September 15, 2013 at 4:19 pm

First of all, this is President Obama’s down time. Secondly, I don’t think equal rights means that you have an equal number of men and women as golfing buddies. Or drinking partners. Even if I were to stretch the golfing scenario to go along with the fact that a lot of corporate deals (what she might be used to) are made on the golf course and one might have a leg up being there with “the boss,” this is the President of the United States. He’s not giving out jobs or promotions to his friends – has little missy lowrey seen President Obama’s track record on hiring and promoting? Not too sure they all golf or drink with him.

      In other words, how ridiculous.

    • 97 vcprezofan2

Hopef, it would seem that the Klein-Lowrey team has made an executive decision to (try to) hide their stupidity behind other names. Remembering yesterday, I checked this time before saying what I thought, and this one was written by ‘Chris Wilson’. So unless they are using pseudonyms, they seem to be letting others speak for them, then retweeting (thus endorsing the garbage from a distance?).

    • 117 Lovepolitics2008
      September 15, 2013 at 6:50 pm

Wow, I didn’t see this coming. OK pure speculation: could it be that he learned President Obama’s choice was NOT him, and he chose to “withdraw” to avoid the humiliation of not being chosen ??.. It better not be a case of ego… Because what this withdrawal is doing is to put some doubt on the person who will be nominated. That person will be regarded as a “second choice”.

Note: this case is different from the case of Susan Rice IMO. Mrs Rice was pilloried by republicans; maybe she was the second choice, but if she hadn’t withdrawn and President Obama had nominated John Kerry anyway, it would have looked as if it was the President who caved in. I didn’t see too much objections against Summers, except from the “left”.)

I have to say I’ve been uncomfortable with the possibility of Larry Summers at the Fed. No question he’s brilliant and able to look at the big economic picture, and take good decisions in very complex situations. But it’s his personality that I’ve been uncomfortable with. There have been serious, credible reports that he was not a team player within the administration. I’m not sure he served the president as well as he should have. He often maneuvered to “block” certain opinions from being heard by the president. In other words, he controlled the information too much, and on many occasions didn’t allow the president to hear all sides…

      • 123 Lovepolitics2008
        September 15, 2013 at 6:54 pm

Exactly. But if that’s true, it means not only that Summers has a big ego, he’s also selfish. Because unless President OBama makes it very clear that Summers was not his choice, there will always be some doubt that the real nominee is a “second choice”. Not fair for the nominee.

Jacquelineoboomer, you always take the conversation to a beautiful level to show who these people who really have not taken time to look within to see who they are and what their “real purpose” on this earth is really about. One, Ms. Annie.

Words have power., But when power has been already proven itself with honesty, compassion, dignity, and people thinking on goodness for people who do not have a spokesperson for them in the midst of the Big Case. Then the likes of Ms. Annie comes along with these small selfish minded words that cause people to stop and try to find truth in these disturbing words spoken by people like Ms. Annie. For a moment her words might seem to have some power, especially to those who already have very vile, and hateful feelings towards this president. However, we will give not power to her words about the number of rounds of golf POB has played and how many females have been on those golf trips. Hell, who cares. This is his time to enjoy, clear his head, relax, and be our President of the United States at the same time. So get over it, Ms. Annie and you get a life and maybe get a whole lot of women who want to play golf with you and go for it. You do have a life, well live it, Ms. Annie and leave the President’s alone. You have not power over his choice of who he chooses to play golf with, and you, if you did not know it; we who support him are tired of your crap about our President.

Personally, I will not give you any more of my precious time, and for sure I have the total choice to Not allow you to enter into my space; I am just getting your irritating spirit a “Do Not Even Think About Entering My Space,” you are not welcome. Bye, Bye. And please leave your envy on another planet and stay there with it until you find your own inner self for yourself. You are not the President., and you are crossing the line with all of your uptight feelings of trying to dictate to POB through your “little tweets’ in your “small space” and mind. And that is why these words that you have written irritates those of us who see our purpose on this earth to be a more fuller and positive experience during this presidency which will be to lift people up, women and men and to live peacefully with those women and men; and peacefully enjoy the gifts that Almighty has placed in our lives.

We as supporters of POB will Not try to please every moan and groan from very unhappy and ungrateful people who always see the small narrow situations in their lives and then try to project them through their little gossipy articles onto POB. Ms. Annie, we are going to enjoy, work hard for and with POB again in this time of his presidency, so get use to it. We are moving FORWARD with our president with sustenance. Count on it. Now, if you can wrap your brain around that thought, join us, otherwise, the train has left the station and we will be rolling along just fine. Count on it.

Ms. Annie Lowery, go away and take an inventory of your narrow and miserable life. We have places to go and people to help in moving to a better place in this beautiful space, we call “Our Universe of Loving and Living Freely with Brilliant Minds,” and not cheap shots that kill dreams, ambitions, loving ambitions for our children, and a beautiful and real focus on the hope and change that is happening, no matter how hard the likes of you try to stop or distract us. We will not fall for the crap, but be not so foolish to believe that we are not alert on the hate for this president and the stone throwing that goes on daily. We will catch the stone and remove them from our space, and we will fight with love, dignity and boldness with all of our loving energy and positive actions to help POB succeed. Count on it. HZ

The odious smug, insufferable Ezra Klein (Annie Lowrey’s husband) is the one who has trumpeted “Summers Will Be Next Fed Chair” crap all summer.

Agree that this is the same as “Susan Rice withdraws her name from Secretary of State nomination.” The media is in lockstep that Susan Rice was our President’s nominee for this position.

When did the press become mind readers?

I didn’t believe anything I read about Susan Rice or Larry Summers.

But sweet little Ezra and Annie will suffer no consequences for being wrong.

They are emblematic of what is wrong with getting promoted without actual experience.

      Makes me want to gag.

Throughout the last couple of hours, there’s been a mixture of tweets both proclaiming (1) Pres. Obama threw Larry Summers under the bus, what drama, what drama, and (2) Pres. Obama always allows potential selectees to save face and ease themselves gracefully out of a selection process. And they all claim to know exactly what’s going on.

        Gag.

JOB, I am absolutely convinced that the media people are only interested in impressing their fellow media people, which in turn helps solidify and reinforce media groupthink in creating negative memes in all things concerning President Obama.

So I just left for an hour or so and came back and Larry Summers has withdrawn his name as Fed Chair nominee? Hmm?

Sorry HF2. My predictions for tomorrow was WRONG.

Well the DC/NY Pundits would have to find new narrative tomorrow?

Anne Lowery is already at it with 145 golf games?

Watching Cspan…The VP was in Iowa today…do you think that he is planning a run for President 2016

Chips very aptly named the pic on this thread “The Look.” And it is a very appropriate pic in view of the news we’re now receiving about Larry Summers….This is precisely “the look” that I imagine PBO to be giving the Emoprogs right now.

when people like Annie Lowery obsess so much about how many women PBO is playing golf with, I have my suspicion about their motives.

I think the motive is not really about gender-equity (although they may hide behind that because then the articles seem really relevant).

I think that their motivation is a desire to write the next story detailing WHICH women & WHY – they are looking for whiffs of scandal.

The establishment/beltway have a tough time accepting PBO for who he is and who FLOTUS is.

If there is one fundamental way that they could damage his character & also the First Couple’s relationship – this is it.

if you notice the beltway has failed to find anything which demonstrates that PBO is in any way corrupt or a person of bad character. Heck even his most rabid haters admit his a man of personal decency.

The beltway has also failed to find anything which demonstrates that FLOTUS is person of bad character.

you can be sure that they are people who have been paid plenty of money to dig – remember how often we hear the claim that “PBO has not been vetted)” or storylines of “aloofness” or “angry woman”.

You must also have noticed how giddy the beltway types were when they thought they have a “scandal” to report.

In my mind, there is a continuous search to prove that PBO is like the rest of the politicians they cover & these efforts will continue.

it is right there to see – if you remember the history of past politicians & how much glee the media takes in pushing these stories.

they are always looking but they can’t come out and say it. they just whisper “boys club”.

if you notice, it is also the women who obsess most about PBO’s relationship & trying to get his attention by writing spiteful stories – it is jealousy.

we all know these kinds of women from our own lives – the ones who are so consumed with destroying a relationship they envy

    • September 15, 2013 at 6:10 pm

Just my opinion, but I don’t think “scandal” is what is motivating Annie.

She is one of the privileged white sorority girls of the northeast who think they understand what feminism is without actually having lived or known someone who has had another kind of life (think: Loretta Lynn as a contrast).

Dotster thinks I hold a grudge against the northeast, but I really don’t.

It’s just that the media POV gets framed by the northeast elite, without consideration of the rest of the country.

So the northeast sorority girls gets to define what “feminism” is all about (the President’s golf partners!) without considering what feminism might mean to the general public.

so those of us who were worrying about the “silence of the useless media”, they now have their next “shinny object”.

almost on cue, you are going to hear from the recently-silenced professional left claiming : “see liberal win again, …. we made PBO drop Summers”

    stay tuned !

The usual C-Span3 moderator today is asking the usual dumb, useless questions of guests.

Paraphrased, he asked one of the representatives of the Birmingham civil rights institute, earlier – an African-American gentleman in his 40s or 50s who grew up in the South – “Have you ever felt racism?” and he just asked Arthur Shores’ daughter a question about the 16th Street Baptist Church bombers, “Why did they hate blacks so much?”

What a lack of interest and knowledge and depth and understanding from that moderator – and this was just a sample.

I’m sure that letter from Summers was for the same reason Susan Rice wrote her letter “taking herself out of the nomination” to SHUT UP the press and talkers. These people have been SURE he was going to nominate Susan and now the same with Summers. They never give up, and always get shot down, and then are sure THEY are the reason he doesn’t nominate X, Y or Z.

I have just a little scenario I’ve thought about re SOS Kerry.

I believe that PBO has always wanted Kerry to be SOS, even four years ago. HOWEVER, he knew that taking Kerry from the Senate, and from chairship of the Foreign Relations Committee would weaken him and his plans. He also knew that Hillary could be a thorn in the Senate. So…. he did the long range thing, as he always does, planning to be president for EIGHT years, and nominated Hillary for SOS the first four years, knowing he would nominate Kerry the second time. Remember there is one person and one person only he owes anything to, and that is John Kerry for introducing him to the world in 2004, and he has the utmost respect for Kerry.
So, I have a feeling he and Kerry talked this over, and Kerry did not feel “jilted” when Hillary was nominated, and as chair of the committee, he got the START Treaty through, which few others could have done, and obviously worked for the President on foreign his trips, never upstaging Hillary. I think Kerry was ALWAYS going to be his nominee, and Susan Rice was always going to be his NS adviser. Stupid people always are jumping to conclusions about him, and it seems they will never learn.

I suspect that you are very correct in your assessment.

People forget that those who really know PBO will ALWAYS say that he is very loyal to his friends and he values strong characters and minds.

Just add something that also favors SOS Kerry: he like VP Biden were all very immersed in big complex foreign policy issues and both were very close to Sen Ted Kennedy & Ms. Caroline Kennedy (co-chair of PBO’s VP search committee. Something tells me that Sen Teddy recommended these 2 men citing their loyalty in the cess pool that is DC

Also add Ambassador Powers to the people PBO values in foreign policy

    • September 15, 2013 at 6:16 pm

      Agree with you Carolyn.

In political terms, President Obama was in debt to John Kerry for giving Senator Obama the 2004 keynote speech address.

The “certain” nomination of Susan Rice was a fabrication of the MSM’s overactive imagination, and they spun this into “fact” and will never admit that they did so.

Probably so that they can substitute speculation for actual reporting, and can continue to 100% wrong with their speculations and suffer exactly zero consequences.

What other job rewards this level of performance?
