I am thrilled that the Swedish officials….prime minister…..or king…..invited ALL the Nordic leaders for dinner with the President, including Iceland. I firmly believe this will be a comfortable, encouraging visit for him. When you think about his ideas, he is very much in sync with the Nordic social ideas, and those countries rate high on longevity and contentment scales.
I’d love to visit those countries, have never been, so I will be following his Swedish trip closely.
I’d love to be a fly as they discuss Putin, which I’ve no doubt this group will. I’m sure they have definite ideas about him!

    NIght TOD.

Almost time for the Luther premiere.

Shoot, After reading this EW article, I might have to save it for a morning this weekend, cause I live alone and thanks to Criminal Minds, I don’t need no more reasons to check EVERY DOOR IN MY HOUSE again…lol

Watch our exclusive clip below from the tense premiere, which has already aired in the UK, and you’ll understand why some British viewers were afraid to retire to their bedrooms afterward. “I heard a lot of people stayed in their living rooms. A couple was huddled up on a sofa — a true story — and I was like, ‘You’ve got to be joking! There’s two of you. Why couldn’t you go to sleep?’” Elba reports, laughing. “People saying, ‘No, we just felt safer in the living room’ — I mean, that’s hilarious.”

For the first time Cross, who lives in New Zealand, was able to monitor Twitter reaction while season 3 aired live in Britain. He, too, saw the strong reactions Elba described: “First, there’s the shock during the show itself. But then there’s the kind of long, long tale of ‘I can’t go to bed.’ ‘I have to watch some comedy before I go to bed.’ ‘I’ve had to go and ask my neighbors to check my attic for me,’” Cross says. (Yes, people with attics, you are doubly screwed.) “There’s an infinite number of postings of people saying, ‘Thank god I’ve got boxes under my bed.’ ‘I can’t sleep alone.’ Women saying that their husbands have been teasing them by knocking on the wardrobe door, and husbands saying their wives had been teasing them by running into the garden and tapping on the window. It was this great explosion of terror across the Twittersphere, which was an immense pleasure

It will be interesting to see if anyone in the media can stop for 30 seconds and talk about the President’s trip – but I would think it will be Syria, Syria, Syria – how nice it is to have TOD and petesouza – and the WHPC cry because they don’t get photo ops. When they get the chance they never use it.

I can almost hear Chuck Todd asking the PM of Sweden does he want to bomb Syria. The Press NEVER take the opportunity to learn about the world as President Obama sees it, lives it and understands it. They are 1 eyed bigots of the finest order – and sadly impact how other parts of the world view the United States. President Obama does so much to nullify the viewpoint that the media gives.

members of the TOD family understand HOW PBO operates and makes decisions in a manner that seems to confound many beltway types & his eternal detractors on the extremes (both left and right).

I don’t know how many of you agree with me but I believe we can use the words of PBO himself (from a 2007 video that has been featured here) to explain to PBO’s method of operation those who either willingly choose NOT to listen or are so confused by his approach.

If I knew how to do it, I would use the section of the interview (from minute 1.29 to 2.09) to create one of those GIFs. I would call it something like PBO’s Method of Operation (Modus Operandi/ M.O.) or something more creative.

Once we had this GIFs we could send one to all the foreign and domestic Obama-haters reminding each to listen carefully to the POTUS in his own words.

Can the more creative types and/or “blog tyrants” help out here? Thanks in advance.

Wow! So much going on. The G-20 should be fascinating. President Obama makes use of every minute of his presidency. I just ran across an Onion article that had me laughing out loud. It’s especially funny since I saw your picture of McCain playing a game during the Syria presentation.

Family Concerned After John McCain Wanders Into Syria
    http://www.theonion.com/articles/family-concerned-after-john-mccain-wanders-into-sy,32601/

WASHINGTON—Members of Sen. John McCain’s family expressed deep concern Tuesday after receiving word that the aging legislator had wandered off into Syria. “Unfortunately, this has been happening a lot lately; he’ll walk out of the Capitol building, get disoriented, and then we get a call late at night saying that John is in Syria,” McCain’s wife Cindy said upon learning that her 76-year-old husband turned up in the war-torn country after ambling across the Turkey-Syria border and delivering a rambling, incoherent speech to a group of rebels. “Then one of us has to go to Syria, pick him up, and bring him back to Washington. We’re going to have to sit down soon and decide what to do about this before he seriously hurts himself.” McCain’s wife added that her husband’s recent trip to Syria was the most alarming episode for her family since the elderly Arizona senator got into his car, started driving, and ended up lost in the 2008 presidential election.

GE TOD….. Been busy… did I miss anything? …….Anyways I don’t know what has been posted, but in case Rand Paul or anybody else for that matter….

Senate critics of U.S. military action against Syria might not even get a chance to filibuster. If Senate leaders take all the proper steps, the resolution to authorize the use of force against Syria might not only jump to the front of the schedule, but it could even short-circuit any filibuster attempts.

The War Powers Resolution of 1973 created a special privileged status for resolutions reported from the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that are in compliance with other legal provisions. The reward for drafting a compliant resolution? The measure becomes the pending business on the Senate floor without debate or the risk of a long series of debate-limiting cloture votes……

But for the Senate to use an expedited process, the Foreign Relations Committee could act on the use of force resolution following a report from President Barack Obama that the Syria case represents an instance “where imminent involvement in hostilities is clearly indicated by the circumstances.”

In short, assuming Reid takes this course and other provisions remain in effect, there would be no way to filibuster the motion to proceed. The CRS notes that even the final passage vote might not be subject to the typical hurdles…..

Hi Lovelyp. I would bet Paul doesn’t know this! A lot of senators/representatives don’t seem to know much about the job they campaigned for AND seem disinclined IMO to educate themselves before ranting and posturing.

  21. September 3, 2013 at 11:12 pm

This may have been posted here before, but I just found it and it’s pretty interesting. Gives a lot of details on what is going on re strategy.

Actually, The US Has A Strategy In Syria — And It’s Starting To Work
    http://www.businessinsider.com/the-us-strategy-in-syria-2013-9

….Last week Pentagon officials told The Wall Street Journal that the planned attack would “deter and degrade” President Bashar al-Assad’s security forces. The key would be hitting various Damascus headquarters as well as some of the regime’s six operable airports.

These airports are the “regime’s nervous system,” defected Air Force Colonel Hassan Hamada told Der Spiegel.

Last week we detailed here how doing so could curb Assad’s relentless bombing of civilians, the flow of supplies from Iran and Russia, and the resupplying of Syrian troops in various areas.

The less obvious, and more long-term, part of the plan involves providing vetted parts of the opposition with advanced weaponry, training them with Western advisors, and curbing the funding for jihadist groups….

    Godspeed, Mr. President.
Thank you for your moral ethics in speaking out for all the children who were gassed to their deaths by their own leaders. You, Mr. President, had the decency to acknowledge the deaths of the little Afro American girls attending Sunday School in their place of worship. You have spoken out for the children of Sandy Hook. You continue to speak out for the children in the U.S. who live in a country where guns are legal without sufficient background checks. What about the children?

As you so eloquently called for “Unity Is The Need Of The Hour” in your 2008 speech at the late Dr.MLK,Jr.’s church while still a young Senator, Your dream of hope is slowing becoming a reality even in the Halls of Congress.

Rest well tonight, Mr. President, you truly deserve sweet sleep.
We pray that ” All Is Well” before you arrive in Sweden.
You leave us proud that we voted for you twice and even prouder that you care as much about our children as you do yours.
    Thank you, Mr. President.

    God bless the children.

Most stuff on Twitter is about there being no dental coverage in #ACA for adults, coverage for kids though.

      Came from this tweet

        https://www.healthcare.gov/can-i-get-dental-coverage-in-the-marketplace/

In the Health Insurance Marketplace, you generally can get dental coverage as part of a health plan or by itself through a separate, stand-alone dental plan.

Adult and child dental insurance in the Marketplace
Under the health care law, dental insurance is treated differently for adults and children 18 and under.

Dental coverage for children is an essential health benefit. This means it must be available to you either as part of a health plan or as a free-standing plan. This is not the case for adults. Insurers don’t have to offer adult dental coverage.

You don’t have to provide dental coverage for either adults or children.

Dental coverage is available two ways
Health plans that include dental coverage. In the Marketplace, dental coverage will be included in some health plans. You’ll be able to see which plans include dental coverage when you compare them. You’ll also see what the dental benefits are. If a health plan includes dental coverage, you will pay one premium for everything. The premium shown for the plan includes both health and dental coverage.

Separate, stand-alone dental plans. In some cases separate, stand-alone plans will be offered. You may want to choose this option if the health coverage you plan to enroll in doesn’t include dental coverage, or if you want different dental coverage.

If you choose a separate dental plan, you’ll pay a separate, additional premium for the dental plan.

        YAHOO!! This is awesome news!!

This guy must be from New Jersey! (When my family moved south from NJ in ’94, my son called me one day to say, “Mom, somebody actually let me merge my car in front of theirs today, when I was trying to pull onto the street out of a parking lot,” and I said, “The lady at the checkout counter asked me how I was doing today, and when I looked up, I noticed she was actually waiting for an answer.” Talk about culture shock.)

    • 117 Dudette
      September 4, 2013 at 12:44 am

From NJ, but where now. Some of us Southerners still have manners. Although on the freeways in Atlanta, I have to admit the transplants are holy terrors.

      • 118 jacquelineoboomer
        September 4, 2013 at 1:02 am

I moved from NJ to FL back then (but live in IL, now). It was as different as day and night, because in NJ (with a huge population crowded into one small state), the key is not to look a stranger in the eye, when you’re out and about!

Funny when I was a transplant in FL, very shortly after settling in, I started talking about the out-of-state drivers, too! The people in FL have no idea what traffic problems really are. The only complaint I ever had was around Disney on I-4, when the tourists would practically stop dead in their tracks in their lanes before an exit – and before they got in the exit lane – scratching their heads to see if they should get off there. Yes, I thought to myself more than once, get off here!

I’ve driven on the interstate through Atlanta, and gotta tell you, I not only had both hands tightly gripping the steering wheel, but I would have used my feet if I could. And I was used to NJ driving. I would stay in the far-left lane, eyes on the prize, and the prize was getting through Atlanta.

Worst experience I had with a driver was when I was on a business trip in Boston. A group of us were crossing a small street at the designated crosswalk, and we all saw a car heading our way, speeding up, and he was actually aiming for us! Talk about a bunch of women in heels makin’ it to the other side in a big hurry!

          September 4, 2013 at 1:13 am

I feel ya on the interstate driving here. It’s like a the crazy switch goes into turbo mode when some of these folks hit the road. And, lord have mercy, don’t let rain drops fall from the sky — it’s like freakin’ Mad Max out there.

            September 4, 2013 at 1:28 am

In my mind’s eye, I see a six-lane (each way) interstate, where there were car fires and rescue trucks (and I ain’t kidding) in the far right lane, as I kept in the far left. Brutal! But I made it, obviously! Mad Max, as you said!

I think the President (and this could be true of any President) may have the need to elevate his leg to prevent possible blood clots that may develop from prolonged sitting in all the meetings he has to attend every day. Going out to play golf, whenever he can, also helps blood circulation in the legs. Richard Nixon suffered from exactly the problem of blood clots on his legs.
