Ahem! :cough: :cough: Bobfr. Ahem. Er…Bobfr,

What’s this rumour I hear about you having celebrated another year? This is likely not true, right? After all, I have checked my email, and didn’t find my personalized birthday invite. News can get so garbled if one is not careful that I’ve decided to go to the source. So, what’s the real story?

      • September 2, 2013 at 2:18 pm

Thank you Claire, Carol & VC – and VC 😀 😀 😀 thanks for the laugh! Week ago, yesterday 🙂

😯 Well! Just, ‘Well!” I am speechless! I do not understand this secrecy, Bobfr.

Dare I posit that it took an entire week for you to ‘man up’ that you are getting on in years? I thought it was only Amk’s wimmin who are reluctant to admit they are aging? Or, (more likely) were you simply too busy to celebrate and only just remembered yourself that you are not as young as you used to be? Frankly, before you answer, I’d rather the real reason be the latter. I wouldn’t want the pundits etc to start hinting at weakness on your part, as they are always so quick to do for PBO. So which is it?

Actually, after careful thinking, maybe you shouldn’t answer, as either answer might lose you some supporters. *I* suspect you didn’t say anything because you didn’t want us to ‘fuss’, so I’m going to fuss… “A very, very HAPPY 66th Year, ‘old guy’!”

The republicans have totally gone off the deep end and showed the country that they haven’t been serious party in a long time. Now they want to consult with Russian lawmakers about Syria….Russian lawmakers ??? Really ???
And screw Charlie Rangell ! The guy didn’t support a strike and if he the President did it without Congressional approval he would have whined about the President abusing his authority. Retire Rangell !

    Hello everyone 🙂

I just stumbled across one of my favourite stories again and thought I´d share it, risking a repost but maybe some haven´t read it yet. It´s an old old story, but it´s so sweet that it´s worth being re-read. 🙂

Ans as POTUS, he has written personal checks to a number of folks who had written him with one problem or another. A Kind Man, son, Brother, Uncle, Father, Brother in-law, POTUS, etc

Works very hard. Respects all. He is honest. Firm. Steady. A Gentleman.

I remember this story. Pres. Obama really and truly is a wonderful human being.

    • September 2, 2013 at 2:45 pm

      Love, love this story.

Overlooked by our media is what an honorable, decent, caring person our President is.

Instead they scheme with GOP to “embarrass” every waking minute.

Americans vote for the character and the intelligence of the person. Really, no one know what it’s like to assume the role until they’re actually there. VPs and First Ladies are the only ones who come close to knowing.

Our MSM seems incapable of acknowledging PBO’s consistency and honor.

Oh, I don’t even have to follow the link, N! I remember it just from the title. It’s the ‘airport’ story, isn’t it? 😛 And our president helped even when he wasn’t running for election! We have us a man who is a ‘good’ man through and through. Something Rangel and his ilk can’t begin to comprehend this.

Thankful for a hurricane free August! However…..I remember the tornado-filled May. Good to have a respite from huge storms. Hope it lasts. Although, we still have massive rains and flashflooding, and firestorms, where the rain doesn’t come to help.
Some of the comments after that tweet were “See…..global warming isn’t happening. Al Gore said there would be more hurricanes.”
Will they ever get the distinction between “climate” and “weather” straightened out???

“South Korea’s students rank among the best in the world, and its top teachers can make a fortune. Can the U.S. learn from this academic superpower?”

    • September 2, 2013 at 3:30 pm

Would´ve loved to read that but the page is no longer available it seems. 😦

    • September 2, 2013 at 4:10 pm

Remember, Arapaho, when PBO said that South Korean teachers are called “nation builders”? SK teachers are seen to have a broad national role in helping to build their country’s future and they are respected by everyone in society. They aren’t constantly ridiculed, overburdened and criticized as they are in the US. Teachers in the US receive among the lowest professional salaries and their work is continually devalued. It would take a major reversal in thinking to change this. Americans would have regard the future as a priority, rather than making a quick buck today. We’d have to shed a centuries old anti-intellectual attitude, which devalues the ‘book learned’ over the so-called rugged (read macho) self-made man. In short, it isn’t going to happen and the US will fail continue to fail miserably in equipping our children for a changing world.

Pres Obama was not going to meet with John McCain, had he not known in advance that McCain and Graham would be saying what they are saying…..adding the Weak and 2yrs later meme…….These two men….think that they have it all figured out? Nope. They will be on the Senate floor…..working their butts off getting the needed number of votes in the senate.

US has the means, the how and the when……in Syria……Graham is just lying so is McCain. US is Not Israel. Israel depends on US backing…..or they will Not be daring the attacks in Iraq, Syria or Lebanon. It is that simple.

Regarding Diana Nyad and her great accomplishment. The last time I ran the Portland Marathon I was in my 40s. There was a woman who was 85 who was running and successfully complete the marathon. Running, not walking.

Wow, Bill that’s amazing for an 85 years-old woman to run a marathon! Now what’s my excuse? I can’t even walk half a mile without huffing and puffing; and I am 18 years younger than her.
