    I feel woefully inadequate:) http://www.alternet.org/11-year-old-admitted-college-freshman

Bravo to young people…we will be in good hands:)

11-year-old Carson Huey-You has been admitted to Texas Christian University as an incoming freshman. Again, he’s only 11-years old.

Huey-You is going to be studying physics. And just to make you further feel bad about both your childhood and honestly maybe your adulthood too, Huey-You will be studying quantum physics, more specifically.

In addition to his science study, Huey-You will be taking calculus, history and religion—making it a full-load of semesterly college courses. He is currently the youngest student the University has ever had.

“It’s fun because it’s basically just like high school, but in a big campus…with a lot more people,” Huey-You said when speaking to Fort Worth Fox-11 news.

Huey-You was co-valedictorian of his senior class, scored a near-perfect 1770 on his SAT, speaks Mandarin Chinese and plays the piano. According to his mother, he was able to read by age one. By five, he was doing pre-algebra, and eventually calculus, which he says relaxes him. If he stays on the track that his teachers and parents predict, and graduates within the next four to five years, Huey-You will have his college diploma before he gets his driver’s license.

Just checking in to report that our Latino rally/picnic was a WHOPPING success and it did not rain!!!! We had over six hundred people–at least a third more than last year and everyone was having a truly terrific time. The band was great, the food was literally wolfed down, the kids had a fabulous time with games, bouncy house, balloon creations, sno cones, cotton candy and lollipops and we got to give real information about the importance of voting, health and and the status of immigration reform. People all said that want to do it again next year with even more people and more entertainment. A visitor from nearby county was just amazed that so many Latinos had turned out today. And I feel that we’ve made real friendships and deepened relations with Latino families. After the 2012 election, I felt it was so important that we remain committed to relationship building and not just swoop in every four years to ask for votes. It’s about building trust and good will and I think we earned a boatload of it today. Unfortunately, I’m almost giddy with fatigue and every muscle aches, but it was well worth it.

It’s all screwed up because every time I looked in over the past hour or so, I got slapped in the face with server error. I went away for awhile to let it cool. The squiggly face here was in anticipation ….. 😉

NO. 😦 I got knocked out again, and just got back in, and at this point in time I have no avatars showing – only names and date etc. I think I’m going to give it all a rest. I was knocked off twitter too, all with the ‘server error’ excuse. Whether you will see this or not is anybody’s guess.

I don’t often end up at Kos but a link to a Tammy Duckworth post (from Friday) took me there. I don’t make much of sense of her post – and I realize there is nothing to laugh about with the situation in Syria – but it was hard to keep a straight face when reading this comment

“Shouldn’t Boehner call Congress back into session?
Congress needs to act. The president is committed to bombing so he’s sure as hell not going to do anything that would impede his plan.
Posted Sat Aug 31, 2013 at 07:15:48 AM PDT”

This poster sure got a rude awakening to reality sometime later in the day

And over there – they have suddenly discovered that only congress has the right to declare war. Funny that this hasn’t bothered anyone until there is a black guy in the white house. Pfffft

Hey 99ts, I’m surprised they could spell and use the word “impede” in its proper context. Then again, I’m sure Fox or Kochs told it what to say.
      Hope all is well 🙂

Hey ark – we do all post at different times 🙂 Our media has picked up on some right wing propaganda (as they always do – they sometimes use Bill Kristol as the US spokesperson) and I near put the remote through the TV this evening when I heard what they were saying about PBO.

99ts, yes we do — especially since we’re such a global community…but I am also an insomniac, and while I know it’s probably not healthy to be on the computer at 1:30 in the morning, I just have to get my TODville fix :).
Did you read what David Horowitz said about the president’s color? Talk about projection! BTW, can not stand Bill Kristol and his silly little smirking grin — they all have that smirking grin.

That is a conference of serious demented haters – and what planet is he on if he thinks republicans have not been criticizing the President? Not even Nixon got as much hatred and criticism. Stay safe – 12.15am in my world – time to go

Well of course they want to deny their criticisms of the president because that would be admitting that is all they do.
Have a good night, restful sleep and pleasant dreams

Been a day of unusual links for me – I visit the hill once every blue moon – but this headline caught my eye

    http://thehill.com/blogs/e2-wire/e2-wire/319757-judge-again-refuses-to-toss-climate-scientist-manns-defamation-suit-against-national-review
“The Court finds that there is sufficient evidence in the record to demonstrate that Plaintiff is likely to succeed on the merits,” the ruling states.

Climate Change scientist defamation suit looks to succeed on the merits – fancy that!

I tried to read that, but the comparison to sandusky…………………..either I’m way too confused/drunk or we have way more goofballs in this country, 99ts

        • 73 99ts
          September 1, 2013 at 2:23 am

It tales a right wing hack to make that connection! – the reference was because Mann did his research at Penn State – said administration covered up Sandusky – hence they also covered up the very bad terrible work of Mann.

The Sandusky link was the last straw that probably caused Mann to sue – but whatever the cause or the result – the Climate deniers & those like Rich Lowry (he who “sat up straighter” when Sarah Palin winked) who use the deniers for political purposes – will have to appear in court and attempt to justify their stupid.

I find it beyond unreal that supposedly intelligent people want to keep the US population dumb and uneducated – for the benefit of coal barons and big oil.

Isn’t Ms Chips amazing – and the No2 football wonk UT – the effort to keep the trolls out is no doubt never ending – but it sure creates that “safe haven”

Just happened to catch the replay of Bill Moyers (Moyers & Company) on PBS World TV, “John Lewis Marches On” – how Rep. Lewis spoke recently to young children at the Lincoln Memorial about the March on Washington was superb, to say the least.

  22. 81 99ts
    September 1, 2013 at 1:21 am

    And from MSNBC

“Karen Finney is joined by colleague Andrea Mitchell to discuss how the President came to his decision on seeking congressional approval before taking action on Syria and how his decision will work out in Congress.”

What would any of them know about how PBO makes decisions – the media interviewing the media – what a disaster they are. They don’t even KNOW anyone in the administration who would be bothered to talk to them.

    • September 1, 2013 at 1:42 am

They are complete disasters! Many of them have never spoken to President Obama, let alone been privvy to his decision making on matters presidential. They are fools. The whole lot of them!

Of course this is to honor the wonderful photograph we all love… (does anyone know if this is Pete’s Souza’s?). And the lovely video in our Night Owl Jukebox ends with it!.

Anyway, another love poem for our POTUS and FLOTUS, and for TOD.
