The 3 young ladies were terrific. Wished the C-Span camera had stayed on them more. I guess it was telling me: You’re at work, listen only! No peeking!
Our POTUS has arrived and the beautiful drops of God’s grace has entered before him. May our President lift us up, bring our hands together with bells of requesting freedom to ring for all of us; our hearts to receive the efforts of our community ringing. Enter with grace and blessings, Mr. President. We are right beside you . HZ
She always takes our breath away not just for her beauty and grace but because we know how much she loves our POTUS and how much she’s done for our nation.
This calls for major pouting! I’ve been looking forward to hearing the girls sing since seeing their pics here last night, and the cameraperson DELIBERATELY kept the camera roaming. I. am. mad….and pouting. Pout, pout, pout!
Just awesome speeches by everyone on this 50th anniversary of Dr. King. Im so impressed. I love democrats that march for jobs and freedom in the U.S. You dems will prevail! No doubt!
They will hold their heads high right now. And they look beautiful the Obama’s. No matter what they are faced with. What a very smart couple these 2 are. 🙂
chips mentioned it earlier, but I agree that it doesn’t seem like they are leaving much time for PBO if the bell ringing is supposed to happen at 3:00, and he is to speak before then.
Why am I feeling that these bastards in Syria, Iran and Russia are fucking with your president right now, on the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King?
I have to get my son, I’m afraid I’m going to miss POTUS… please please please Chips (I know you will) post the speech as soon as possible. I hate missing him live, in the moment.
I will not be annoyed by outside forces today, but that was so annoying of C-Span to take forever to use a side camera! They finally got it right, but their front camera barely captured Rep. Lewis’ face when he spoke, either.
Breaking News!!!! Bill deBlasio leading MYC mayoral race at 36% to Chris Quinn at 22% and Bill Thompson at 20%.
Love over hate.
Inclusion wins over the greedy rich excluding the rest of us.
As Ted Kennedy said, “the work goes on, the Dream will never die.”
What a day.
The King children all had the same look after the President said a little something to them … I like to imagine he said, “Your mom and dad would be proud of you.” And they would.
Beautiful, President Obama. He can move me like no other—-no one else ever. I had tears flowing during most of that speech. And I could see from the smiles on the people in the crowd shots that they too knew they were listening to a man of greatness. He is a gift.
One of my patrons (wearing a dashing hat) came in from the parking lot. She said everyone who was in their cars was listening to the speech. She was bowled over.
I am so happy, proud and pleased with the whole program today. I am especially grateful to John Lewis, Andrew Young and Julian Bond, who endured so much and are still here today, to help us carry the Torch of Equality.
Thank you Chipsticks, for this has been the best seat in the House today 🙂
Magnificent speech, from his heart. And I know he is feeling the enormity of what is left to be done. BRAVO, PBO. We love and admire you and all you have stood for on our behalf.
What a beautiful day. I watched on the White House feed from about 12:30 until ABC picked up with the president’s speech. We have been given our charge and our inspiration to make our union more perfect. Change does not come from Washington (or the State Houses) but to it from citizens working to make it so.
That final view of PBO, Michelle, Clinton and Carter at the feet of Lincoln’s statue in a final farewell to the crowd was so symbolic of so many things.
The msm is still doing their part to black out important events and movements. Thank God for the internet and sites like Twitter and Youtube and TOD that help to keep us informed.
Thank you Chips for sharing this space where we can listen to our great President, and we don’t have to listen to any commentators on what we just heard. Love you, all the blog tyrants, and all you “twitter Warriors”!
We are so blessed to have President Barack Obama in the Oval Office working for All people. This has been a beautiful time in this day just like I felt it to be in my heart and mind.HZ
Chips, your doing a fabulous job, as usual. Thanks so much!
Oprah!!
POTUS has arrived.
Yardarm, please bring your church choir over to this thread. I love them!!!
Rev. Joseph Lowery. You are amazing! That image is powerful.
Dr. King was so young.. think of the profound things he said and did.. and yet all at so young an age.
“Whooo Hooooo!!!!
Good Afternoon, TOD! I got here just in time to see the President!
Chips you are a rockstar!
Two of the girls are the twin daughters of my KTLA morning news caster Chris Shauble
Brilliant—-those young girls singing the Natl Anthem!
The 3 young ladies were terrific. Wished the C-Span camera had stayed on them more. I guess it was telling me: You’re at work, listen only! No peeking!
John Lewis, in my heart!
My heart is beating faster and faster as my son and I await President Obama!

Sooo glad to see POTUS & Flotus, love her dress/ hair too !
She always takes our breath away not just for her beauty and grace but because we know how much she loves our POTUS and how much she’s done for our nation.
THIS!!!!
Yep she is all that.. grace and beauty and goodness ~
Thanks so much Chips for such great coverage. No better place on the Web!
This calls for major pouting! I’ve been looking forward to hearing the girls sing since seeing their pics here last night, and the cameraperson DELIBERATELY kept the camera roaming. I. am. mad….and pouting. Pout, pout, pout!
POTUS and FLOTUS has arrived.
Very emotional day.
Has anyone spotted, or waved to, Dudette or DD yet? I have been looking carefully at the crowd but I haven’t spotted either one yet. 😉
Yeah Good Luck with that. 😀
😆 😆
BTW, thank you for the hint on how to enter. Trying it just now restored the ‘message light’ for me. Not sure how long it will last, but thanks.
That’s what friends are for. 😀
my first vote was for Jimmy Carter.
I love love love this hero.
Oh ut, thank you soooo much! I have been waiting for you!
So proud to call them my President and First Lady. Hear me right wing haters and left too. Pride feels my heart and soul.
Okay, settling down to listen to each nuance from here on …. 😉
Just awesome speeches by everyone on this 50th anniversary of Dr. King. Im so impressed. I love democrats that march for jobs and freedom in the U.S. You dems will prevail! No doubt!
Would anyone have the candles link? Thank you.
Here you go:

Thanks, friend!
Okay Bill, time’s up!
Missed him. Must have turned my head away or something. Oh, look, more on the program!
😆
They will hold their heads high right now. And they look beautiful the Obama’s. No matter what they are faced with. What a very smart couple these 2 are. 🙂
John Lewis is the voice of Dr. King today. He is the voice of African Americans and the voice of the legacy of Mr. King. What a wonderful man he is.
Martin Luther King III is proudly representing his mom and dad and entire family, during this entire MOW50th anniversary.
And so is Rev. Bernice King!
chips mentioned it earlier, but I agree that it doesn’t seem like they are leaving much time for PBO if the bell ringing is supposed to happen at 3:00, and he is to speak before then.
I LIKE that hat 🙂 a masterpiece!
🙂
Why am I feeling that these bastards in Syria, Iran and Russia are fucking with your president right now, on the anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King?
I guess, PBO won’t be speaking at 2:45pm after all.
Harder to vote then it is to buy a assault weapon, thanks to the Tea Republicans.
I have to get my son, I’m afraid I’m going to miss POTUS… please please please Chips (I know you will) post the speech as soon as possible. I hate missing him live, in the moment.
Hurry back, you might yet catch PBO if you hurry – drive carefully tho.
It appears that they changed the plan and PO will speak AFTER the bell ringing. That’s okay. Maybe more symbolic.
An unfortunate camera cspan camera view of MLK sister—-microphones cover her face so all you can see is her hat.
Try this one: http://www.whitehouse.gov/live

Great news!
Outstanding news!!!! Yes, the Dream will never die!!!
Could someone explain to me about Bill deBlassio and Chris Quinn…. I’ll look them up on wikipedia I guess but I never trust that site.
How is Wiener doing? I think if I was living in New York, I would vote for Bill deBlasio, because Quinn is to close to Bloomberg.
Bernice is speaking/preaching the TRUTH!
Bernice is screaming too much. Wish she slowed down her speech a little. Her words are strong but to fast.
What a touching ringing moment

Here’s my new account!
Hehe
That was fast, Jovie! 😆 😆
I’m choked up. Today is a beautiful day.
Sharing my bell-ringing
Ya’ll I’m back in church.(layed out)

{Sherijr} 😀
Speak Mr. President!
This man must be a gift from God – no other explanation! none!
THIS x 10,000!
Just when God “sensed” we needed him!
Amen, jacquelineoboomer.HZ
Its a beautiful sight!
*It’s*
Typing through tears, here!
I love, love, love this! This makes me so happy and proud to be alive to witness this amazing day!!
UNFINISHED BUSINESS!
Kat’s doing a nice job live tweeting, along with UT:
[Not exact words, but loved it]: …… Courage comes from not turning against each other, … but by turning towards one another.
Lots of folks are live tweeting the President’s remarks, including Martin Bashir. Here’s a crowd shot:
Touching embrace and light kiss from our First Lady to our President, to comfort him. He felt every word, as did all of us.
I cannot, I will not, I shall not cry at my desk!!!!
Thank you President Obama
/patting you on the shoulder/ ‘Good girl, Gail.’
taking deep breaths, thanks vc
No One I have ever listened to, puts it all together the way Mr. President does~ he paints a stirring picture but always based in reality.
The King children all had the same look after the President said a little something to them … I like to imagine he said, “Your mom and dad would be proud of you.” And they would.

Agree 1000% Dotster- he moves me like no other either.
Random thought. Wow, Andy Young has really aged.
Over here! Hey PBO, I’m over here patiently awaiting *my* hug & kiss.
Look at our wonderful First Family!
Now the talking heads brgin their senseless analysis. Watch and see.
‘Watch and see.’ Why? 😉
Not watching and seeing! That is all!
For the b.s. factor.
Naw. I usually step carefully around that mess. Low tolerance level
I really don’t want this to be over. Although I don’t think I could take much more. What a profound and inspiring event.
There’s no “one” reason to cry, but there are many, many reasons to cry. Glad to share my viewing with all of you here! Off to take a quiet moment.

Me too times a million
Harold Itzkowitz, so am I.
Magnificent speech, from his heart. And I know he is feeling the enormity of what is left to be done. BRAVO, PBO. We love and admire you and all you have stood for on our behalf.
Thank You, and God Bless You, Mr. President ~ Power off, I heard what I needed to hear!! Hugs all around {{{{TOD}}}} 😆
Thank you Chips, there is no one I would have rather shared today with, than with you and all the folks here at TOD.
Ok, it’s past time for Donna and Dudette to check in…
Indeed!!! Where are these ‘DD’s’

Indeed HZ! Lots of tears in my home today.
I just LOVE to hear our President speak. He always speaks to my heart and soul…..I love his verbal pictures which make his message just alive.
