That young lady just sang her butt off. Natalie Grant is her name?
I’m at work and I hear more than I see, so when I click over to the site, I miss the name of the person and if I don’t recognize them….well…
So those of you who are watching, please provide the person’s name when you make a comment about them – it would be a great help 🙂
I’m so excited for today. I’m stuck at work, which is filled with it’s usual drama, but I’m upbeat and joyful! I’ve Tivo’d the festivities on CSpan. Knew the blabbermouths on MSNBC would ruin it for us. Great to see Alycee and her Mom and am hoping we get to see our Dudette and Donna as well.
I’m fortunate to be home today, so I have my TV on CSPAN…….great pictures, labels for the people, no commentators!
Every time the crowd is shown, it looks like it’s growing substantially.
Speakers are a good cross section of the country…….I’m wondering if the same people planned this who planned the Demo convention last fall. Everyone knows how long to speak, there are no long empty spaces or times, it’s running like clock work. Very impressive.

Bill Russell is such a humble man … and I loved how he said he was sitting in the front row 50 years ago, and he was glad to be “anywhere” 50 years later! His ending was great:
“As we used to say in the projects, ‘Keep on keepin’ on.'”
Congresswoman Donna Edwards of Maryland: “It’s a new day … and a better day … but the day is not over … (the final chapters) cannot be written without you.”
He’s from the National Park Service, yes? Most of the folks who work for the NPS are very proud of their jobs and our country. I’m thinking he’s thinking it’s a great honor. I know I would!
I’ve heard some of them speak on PBS or other outdoorsy shows, in particular, and many – not the people here today, I don’t think, they look too official! – are volunteers, too.
National Urban League, Marc Morial, spoke of the hanging noose has been replaced by handcuffs, white hoods with business suits. It was the type of wake up call we need to hear.
Everyone seems to have their words very well structured to get their message across in the time allotted.
I agree, GGail. Very succinct and yet they still are getting in the great points! These are mostly the on-the-ground activists here today, who believe what they’re saying to the depths of their souls.
Howdy all you O folks!!!!! What a great getting up delightful day in TODdytown again!!! I’m still in No. Dakota and have found a way to check in with the O family. I’m in a household that doesn’t get CSPAN so they have to watch on MSNBC. Needless to say, the only thing they get to hear are pundits until they decide which speaker is important enough to broadcast. So I’m watching the speeches on the net and am so thankful for the technology that allows me to be a part of it all.
I see the rain as a sweet sprinkling of a real sweet refreshing bold and fierce new generation of young, younger, old, and older group of hard working human beings being shown favor from the most real element of nature of goodness for us today. When my mind go back to the large hoses that were pointed upon crowds of women, children, and men and then the additions of the dogs tearing at their clothes: this is a’ peaceful wetness.’
If they stood and still was able to fall and then some get up with the forces of the water from those hoses and the biting of those dogs, then this is small indeed for the grandchildren , great-grand children, great nieces, grandmothers of those precious souls who walked, spoke up, and marched together fifty years ago. Oh this is just a ‘sprinkle of sweet favor’ coming down from the fountains of ‘yet sweeter water still having to roll down like rivers of sweet sprinkles of a celebration of ‘one nation coming together to give honor to those who walked, marched, spoke, and even got jailed before us.
We((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( Will Hug the drops of rain into our hearts for the new movement for justice, jobs, fairness, and a good opportunity for education to bring that complete change we believe in.))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))HZ

GGail, I thought he almost broke in a tear at the conclusion of his speech. Very moving. He is such a gifted, brilliant but also very humble man. I love him. HZ
I won’t mince words: this entire Syria situation has me very concerned, particularly in regards to how Russia will react if the West does respond militarily. Putin’s chief aim is to reassert Russia as a superpower; if he doesn’t aid his client in Syria, those hopes will vanish. But if he does aid Assad, we’re looking at a confrontation between the US and Russia not seen since the 1980s.
State Dept briefing indicating the WH is going forward without UN Security Council because of these obstacles. This is shaping up to be quite complex, to say the least.
This is a great move: AG Holder has announced a $2.5-million grant to Connecticut law enforcement for the costs of investigating the Sandy Hook School shootings.
great program thus far
Yes, I’m really enjoying it.

C-Span puts the names up often. I’m doing split screen plus WH.gov on my pc. Talk about sensory overload. 🙂
Thanks yardarm. Maybe I’ll switch over to C-SPAN. I’m currently on WH.
If you start acting like those men who are on now…..we’ll undertstand 😀
Hey Sailor, great suggestion – I see what the names of those men are – this is gonna be a big help!!!
DMI! 😀

Bringing my greetings over from the last thread…
Good Morning TOD Family!

This WordPress notification thingy is driving me crazy…….MSNBC is for pics and talking heads. C-Span and WH.gov got the program down pat.
Looks like it’s happening other blogs too Shipmate, which is good – WP might actually fix the bug! 🙄

Yep! It worked!!! Thanks again Yardarm! 😀
‘welcome.
Bill Russell is such a humble man … and I loved how he said he was sitting in the front row 50 years ago, and he was glad to be “anywhere” 50 years later! His ending was great:
“As we used to say in the projects, ‘Keep on keepin’ on.'”
From a simple sign on the National Mall, which I co-sign:
“Thank you, Congressman John Lewis”
Still here to talk about it! Way to go, sir.
Oh my goodness – it’s raining on them
Do not fret! They are being showered with love
I like how you think Layla 🙂
I am anxiously waiting for the rainbow at around 14:45!
You know that will happen! Remember the photo of President Obama’s outstretched hands, setting off the rainbows?
Congresswoman Donna Edwards of Maryland: “It’s a new day … and a better day … but the day is not over … (the final chapters) cannot be written without you.”
I absolutely love Ms. Edwards. Very smart woman.
Very. I like everything about her!
I applaud the police officer who’s holding the umbrella over the current speaker. I wonder what’s going through his mind right now? hmmmm?
He’s from the National Park Service, yes? Most of the folks who work for the NPS are very proud of their jobs and our country. I’m thinking he’s thinking it’s a great honor. I know I would!
I noticed his branch of service the second time I saw him and yes, he does appear to be taking great pride in his duties!
I’ve heard some of them speak on PBS or other outdoorsy shows, in particular, and many – not the people here today, I don’t think, they look too official! – are volunteers, too.
We thank them for their service today!
I admire him so much! Fired Up! Ready to Go!
I adore him.

Talk Jamie TALK!!!

Love what I’m hearing from the speakers. A little summer rain won’t stop the movement.
Look out now! Church all up in here!
“Bout time we got a Negro to sing the Spiritual 🙂
Cut a step, Child!
GLORY!

Shirley don’t need no stinkin umbrella!!!
Preach Rev. Al. Preach!!!!

You are on the ball Chiparoo! Niiiiiiiiiiiiice.

Also remember our Maestro Conference call tonight as well. I am sure everyone has received their notice. HZ
Forest Whitaker almost made me cry here at my desk
yes, what a gentle soul he seems.
GGail, I thought he almost broke in a tear at the conclusion of his speech. Very moving. He is such a gifted, brilliant but also very humble man. I love him. HZ
HZ, I noticed that too
U.S. Ambassador to Japan nominee Caroline Kennedy at MOW50:

Ay—-I don’t like it either. Very worrisome. And the public seems adamantly against any military action—only 9% is supportive.
It was expected. Was it not?
The King Family has arrived
This is a great move: AG Holder has announced a $2.5-million grant to Connecticut law enforcement for the costs of investigating the Sandy Hook School shootings.
This is a great move, indeed meta. Thank you, Mr. Attorney General and the Justice Department. HZ

Good Afternoon, TOD. I’m just getting here. Who was singing before Oprah? Thanks!
I believe it was the Winans family—-I came in late too.
Thanks, Dotster!
