Is the loony left seriously going to forego talking about voter suppression, women’s rights, worker’s rights, jobs, immigration reform and health care and now focus on whether or not the taxpayer should pay for Manning’s sex change?!?! Seriously? This is the new litmus test on whether you’re pure enough to call yourself progressive?

Delay it, or make it very brief, GG. Just tell him/her s/he got the job based on the fantastic smile, but you’d like to do a follow-up with another interviewer tomorrow (or another time/day PBO isn’t speaking).

In addition to “polite heckler”, crowd is too noisy. I want people to just listen to what PBO has to say. Cheer the good parts, no need to insert oneself after every sentence.

    • 85 vcprezofan2
      August 22, 2013 at 6:46 pm

I must say Dotster, when I first started attending these speeches I was always ticked off when people interrupted (continually) as I found it so rude. However, I’ve mellowed a bit, primarily because PBO handles each interruption well. I still think some audiences go too far in the way they insert themselves into his speech, but I don’t grit my teeth as much.

    • 86 hopefruit2
      August 22, 2013 at 6:46 pm

These are young people and this is how they show their enthusiasm. I will cut them some slack here. For the most part I think they are listening and respectful. They were the noisiest when they were trying to drown out the heckler. Of course PBO will not encourage them on that – not publicly anyway πŸ™‚

By the way I think PBO is used to screaming excited girls – he’s got two adolescent daughters…

TRMS would be LIVE from NC talking about the Calamity that the TBGOPers are imposing on NC citizens. Even if you don’t like TRMS…….Tivo, DVR, tape it……then erase it. We need topic like the atrocities in NC to be highlighted. All eyes and national attention is how…..more people would get involved, call attention and make these SOBs TBGOPers lawmakers to retreat or best for Our side to galvanize and defeat them in due time.

Sorry, but there is nothing that will make me watch, DVR or tape Maddow ever again. She has shown me who she is and what she stands for. And I believe her.

As for the NC issue – this is not new. There have been many and widespread reports on the abuses of the GOP in NC – which is why they created the Moral Mondays to protest such issues – and Rachel going down there to make herself the story is not impressing me.

I just heard another part of her 9-1-1 tape. Brought tears to my eyes. She told the shooter she loved him, as she was helping arrange his turning himself in to the police, and told him, “we all go through things in life.”

She really did all the right things instinctively in dealing with that gunman, didn’t she? Very courageous. She reacted as if she had been trained all her life for such a precarious situation. Kept her cool, communicated in an engaging and empathetic way. Pretty amazing.

/////POTUS told this story….heartwarming, heartbreaking and human and humane story the Saturday that he and his family went on Vacation.

WASHINGTON β€” Three times, mainly by chance and in very different circumstances, Sgt. First Class Cory Remsburg has met President Obama.

They were introduced near Omaha Beach in France in 2009, when Sergeant Remsburg was part of a select Army Ranger group chosen to re-enact a parachute drop for celebrations of the 65th anniversary of the D-Day landings in World War II. The second meeting came less than a year later at a military hospital outside Washington, where Mr. Obama was stunned to see among the wounded troops from Afghanistan a familiar young man β€” now brain-damaged, a track of fresh stitches across his skull, and partly paralyzed.

Man, that 911 call from the School Clerk in ATL that talked down that gunman is amazing. This man was armed with an AK47 and 500 rounds of ammunition.

“Tuff: Let me talk to them and see if we can work it out so that you don’t have to go away with them for a long time.

    Shooter: I’m already on probation…

Tuff: No It does matter! I can let them know that you have not tried to harm me or do anything with me or anything, if you want to

    Shooter: (inaudible)

Tuff: but that doesn’t make any difference you didn’t hit anbody.

    Shooter: You don’t know that!

Tuff: Let Me Ask You This ma’am, he didn’t hit anybody, he just shot outside the door, if I walk out there with him, so they won’t shoot him or anything like that? He wants to give himself up, is that okay? They won’t shoot him?

    911 Operator: Yes Ma’am

Tuff: he’s on the ground with his hands behind his back. tell the officers don’t come in with any guns-don’t come in shooting or anything so they can come on in and I’ll buzz them in.

Tuff: (presumably to gunman) so hold on, just sit right here, I’m gonna buzz them in. Okay, so you’ll know when Theyre coming, okay? Okay so just stay there calm, don’t worry bout it. I’m gonna sit right here so they’ll see that you didn’t try to harm me. It’s gonna be alright, sweetie. I just want you to know that I love you though and I’m proud of you, that’s a good thing that you’ve just given up and don’t worry about it. we all go through something in life

Hi everybody:) Been SO busy with work and home…wanted to make sure that you all read this from Smartypants. Not sure if it’s been posted already.

Two weeks ago President Obama held a news conference to talk about NSA surveillance. At the time, he proposed several things to improve the system.
Release more information about surveillance programs.
Work with Congress to reform the Patriot Act.
Establish an opposition advocate on FISC.
Establish a Civil Liberties officer at NSA.
Set up a website as a β€œhub” for information on surveillance policies.
Set up an NSA review panel to consider how we can maintain the trust of the people and ensure no abuse in how surveillance technologies are used.
In just two short weeks, he’s made good on #’s 1, 5, and 6. Today the White House will announce the members of the review panel and yesterday they launched the web site – including the release of a whole trove of previously classified documents from NSA.

More important detailed stuff at the link.

    • August 22, 2013 at 9:01 pm

What do you want to bet this won’t satisfy the Left-Hand ringers who just need something to bitch about President Obama. I had to stop listening to Nicole sitting in for Randi Rhoads and Thom Hartmann and some other lefty radio mouth complaining about the NSA and how disappointed they are with “Obama”. Where were these cowards when Bush/Cheney and the GOB & DEMs voted for the Patriot Act and even with President Carter that started the FISA Court? All these whistle blowers did not do shit because they were afraid Bush would put them prison and never be seen again.
