repeat from last thread: So glad to see Governor Andrew Cuomo on tarmac with POTUS. NYC hater Press had been saying Cuomo wasn’t a part of NY State tour.
    Wrong Again, haters.

Geez, did they really need a poll for this, 57. Shutting down the government is a BFD–a disaster for every single American. There are very few areas of our lives that aren’t touched by the Federal government. And they are thinking of doing this in the fall in hurricane season and with the holidays on the horizon. I swear the Republicans in Congress are stark, raving mad.

People are sick and tired of GOP’s shenanigans. MSM, please take note.

    • August 22, 2013 at 3:40 pm

There’s a part of me that wants them to go ahead with this so they can go right off a cliff but I wouldn’t want innocent people to suffer because of their stupidity.

That’s why Repubs have decided to breach the debt limit instead of shutting down the government. Still an idiotic move.

Stark, raving, effing mad. All of them. I blame John McCain, who told this country that a stupid, science-hating, ignorant dingbat could be a heartbeat away from the Presidency. That’s what ushered in this madness. If he had any shame, he’d slink away to the desert and live the rest of his life under a rock.

57, you hit the nail on the head; that’s when all of this ugly bigotted hatred started!

          • 32 57andfemale
            August 22, 2013 at 5:15 pm

McCain gave permission for this stuff to become mainstream. They would have thought this ugly crap, but there was still a line of decency that wasn’t to be crossed. Sure, there had been some maniacs in Congress, but they were considered fringe. It was McCain’s choice of Palin that unleashed these floodgates. Being ignorant became a badge of honor; being from the ‘outside’ was better than understanding basic economics on the debt ceiling, etc. We’ve always had some loons, but we never gave them the keys to the car. John McCain told the country that Sarah Palin was qualified to be President – that meant every ignorant yahoo had a right to run the government.

            Eff him.

Agreed—–McCain’s choice of Palin unleashed the dirtiest of dogs. The haters came flooding out from under their rocks —–“she’s just like us!” I also believe without that demented VP selection the bigots would have remained tucked away and out of sight.

I’ve believed that from Day One. We would not have had the tea party take over our political system. And a good deal of the rhetoric would have stayed under the sheet – pun intended. It was only through McCain’s elevation of that idiot that we are now in this mess.

I went to my mani-pedi appointment yesterday after work. While there, my manicurist & I were talking about how my daughter will be completing her residency in time to be a benefit to the Obamacare coverage. Nancy, my manicurist asked when would that be and I said Obamacare goes into effect, 1/1/14, but that people can sign up beginning Oct. 1st of this year. Nancy became so excited, she started talking to the other manicurist in Vietnamese and all I could understand was the word “Obamacare”! She asked me how to sign up and I told her that I would help her. She said she doesn’t have health insurance and would bring her son’s laptop for my next appointment in two weeks so I can put the link on the computer and show her and the other manicurists how to put in their info into our “Covered California” Health Insurance Exchange.

Just imagine what one conversation, one encounter can accomplish. Think of all of the other Vietnamese people, especially manicurist that will know how to sign up for coverage by October 1, 2013.

      • August 22, 2013 at 3:45 pm

I love this story. It’s so wonderful to see that people are grateful for this coverage. Covered California is doing a great job.

          Thank pk.
This is one of those segments of our society that does not read or listen to a lot of information in English and unless we help spread the word this way, we will be doing a disservice to our President and all that he did to provide us with affordable healthcare.

Just think of all of the Asian business’ that we patronize daily, weekly. We need to be looking at them and having conversations. I know I’m not the only person here at TOD who gets a manicure/pedicure every two weeks???!!! 😀

      • August 22, 2013 at 4:23 pm

GG, that is absolutely wonderful. I am talking to as many people as I can, especially when I go to my favorite “hole-in-the-wall” to play darts. I’ve talk to the owner about me doing a quick presentation on Obamacare on Thursdays and Saturdays afternoon. Keep up the good work.

I am so glad Dan Pheiffer said this. We ARE NOT negotiating over the debt limit. They are talking to themselves and holding themselves hostage. If the GOP thinks they will get PBO to blink on this they need to think again. They can’t play this game if the other side won’t budge. The president only has to go on national tv and tell the American people what the Republicans plan to do and outline the consequences as exactly as possible. The Republicans are so intent on denying your health care that that are willing to make you suffer further by delaying your social security checks, veteran’s pay, Medicare reimbursements and risking your airport and highway safety, to mention just a tiny portion of the consequences. If people don’t want to suffer these consequences they can call their Congressman or, better yet, vote them out in 2014.

President Obama and the Dems need to get out first on this outrage. Get on television now and let the American people know what the Repubs plan to do to damage this country. Put the blame squarely where it belongs and don’t let the MSM twist this to blame the Dems in any way or form.

HEADLINE: Rasmussen Reports Announces a Change in Management

    // For Immediate Release

Asbury Park, NJ, August 22, 2013 — The Rasmussen Reports, LLC Board of Directors today confirmed that founder Scott Rasmussen left the company last month. In part, the move reflects disagreements over company business strategies. Mike Boniello, the company’s chief operating officer, will assume a broader leadership role until a replacement for Mr. Rasmussen is named.

The Company emphasized that Mr. Rasmussen’s legacy remains intact. His polling methodologies and protocols, widely acknowledged as among the most accurate and reliable in the industry, continue to guide and inform the company’s public opinion survey techniques. In addition, the editorial culture of excellence that he built is still very much in place. //

I had an email from GoFundMe reporting in the past 2 days, $98K plus a bit has been raised in support of the Christopher Lane Memorial Fund. Christopher is the young Aussie student who was shot and killed by the bored American teenagers earlier this week. This is a dynamic message and indicator of how upset people are with our out-of-control-guns-for-everyone mentality.

President Obama made a stop in Seneca Falls on Thursday during his bus tour of Upstate New York. … The visit was not part of the announced schedule for Obama’s Upstate New York tour. … Many consider Seneca Falls the birthplace of the women’s rights movement.
