Our coldest winter day due tomorrow – sun will shine however – but a wind that I call icy. Not like the Northern Icy winds – we won’t get below 40F – but for my world that is chilly.

A 15 yr. old has been charged with shooting the 7 yr. old Sunday night in Chicago. What in the world is a 15 yr. old doing with a gun? What can be done about all these teenagers with guns, shooting willy-nilly in the general direction of some perceived “enemy”, many innocents getting caught in the crossfires? Insanity.

Another sickening gun story—-3 bored teenagers in Ok. charged with killing an Australian baseball player attending college there on a scholarship. The teens said they didn’t have anything to do so decided to kill somebody. They spotted this athlete while he was out jogging and shot him to death. Sick.

Dotster, these murderous teens are going to find more than boredom when they spend their lives in prison. Frankly, I hope they get the maximum sentence allowable for this. It’s first degree murder.

    • 27 99ts
      August 20, 2013 at 9:42 am

That one hit our press today (being an Australian) – truly sad & so pointless. The gun lobby seems to make killing a sport – these children (which is what they are) thought they’d go out and do some killing. In my youth the teens used to go into the paddocks and chase rabbits in their cars with massive headlights – that was stupid and pointless – but it seems humans are replacing the rabbits.

Sad reality about guns on Pierce yesterday – Another night in Newtown

“The ability of the country to move on, even while denying that it ever will, continues to amaze and astound. This was the place where it was all going to change. This was the place where it was all going to turn around on guns. Right here, at St. Rose’s, when hundreds of candles lit up the lawn. This was the place of the teachable moment.”

      • August 20, 2013 at 9:50 am

I’m so sorry this happened. The family looked devestated. We were just talking baseball. We are one sick country to let our children get that bored. :,(

          August 20, 2013 at 10:03 am

And I was saying how sport was fun for kids before the money poured in. I’ve no doubt this young man was in the US on some type of sporting scholarship – and/or to join the game that does not have many career opportunities in Australia. We just don’t have the guns in Oz – there are many things we worry about – being shot is not even on the list.

Well…they don’t like to work, but they sure do like to travel around the world on lobbyists’ dimes….

    http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/08/19/us-usa-congress-ethics-idUSBRE97I0RE20130819

U.S. lawmakers are once again taking advantage of their summer recess to race around the globe on privately financed tours to places like China, the Middle East and Scotland – trips watchdog groups cite as evidence that congressional ethics reforms are unraveling.

Critics of such trips say it is unseemly for members of the House and Senate to take trips bankrolled by people and organizations with specific legislative desires.

“It’s money well spent by lobbying groups, but for the American public, there is no benefit,” said Craig Holman, a lobbyist for the consumer group Public Citizen.

Of course these are the ones they are really working for, df. The lobbyists are their bosses. We’re all less than after thoughts.

Oh, absolutely! Our pockets aren’t deep enough to appease their egos and their greed and need for validation. I would go so far to say they some of them would love it if they never had to deal with constituents ever again. We were just a tool to get them elected….

  17. August 20, 2013 at 9:09 am

I was up before the sun this morning. I was wondering how Sunny adjusted to her new surroundings? I sleep with my window open and the coyotes were howling. The pups were crying like puppies. My computer is crashing almost every post. Think I’ll go take care of that if I can.

We have a black female Australian Teagan Park Rutland Manor labradoodle(that has an uncanny resemblance to the Portuguese water dog). And in 2 months, a second (male) will arrive.
I see the excitement in Bo at having a companion. Just adorable.

Now I cant wait to hear the Bachmann let us know if the White House hired another 3 groomers to take care of the dogs!

I can’t believe I’m a day late on the new puppy situation. I come home from work, head to the gym and then spend the night at a friend’s house and miss EVERYTHING! It’s like when you miss one day of school and the principal and teachers have a break dancing contest in the cafeteria and of course you missed it.

Just love how the Obamas kept the coming of Sunny a secret! Obviously, none of them speak out of turn. She is a cutie, and will bring them much joy. Remember Harry Truman said “If you want a friend in Washington, “Get a dog!” Well, the Obamas have two…..so they have really followed Harry’s advice.
There is nothing quite like the love and trust a dog gives. In the morning, around 7:30, Chanel and I walk the neighborhood……it is a nice quiet time with her, and starts the day well. She gets SO excited when she sees me putting on my shoes. A walk is just the greatest treat in the world…..shows what is important in life.

Good Morning my Chips and TOD family. It is a lovely morning on the West Coast, however a bit humid. Up early and grateful to see our beautiful Chips will be meeting up with us very soon. (((((((((((( Lots of love with you, my beautiful Chips)))))))))))) We love you so much and thank you so much for our lovely home.

A beautiful celebratory birthday to you, tnmtngirl!! Enjoy every moment of your day. (((((((((( Be happy and joyful)))))))))

A precious and comforting healing touch to our VP and Dr. Jill Biden as they take care of AG Beau Biden. I prayed for AG Biden and his lovely family this morning. Keep him in your thoughts, TOD family.

Lovely and blessed day for our wonderful President and First Family this morning. I just came spoke words of prayer for our President and my precious brother. They both have very complicated jobs. As I enter my music room/library my mother, President Barack Obama and my brother are the three photos that greet me as I enter. I speak my prayers , open my blinds and greet the day with two of my favorites scriptures and stop and quietly pray and meditate for those so heavily on my heart. I give thanks for President Obama being in the Oval Office this morning.

Prayers for my Fred, Layla, Vc, Amk and all of my beautiful TOD family members who are so precious to us but also need our lifting up in a most beautiful and loving way. ((((((((((((((((((( May the love of our thoughts and strength of our prayers be yours, my dear ones)))))))))))))))))))HZ

Good morning DF. ((((((((((((((( Lots of love to you )))))))))))))))) It does breaks the heart when we read of these situations. We will try to help fight every inch of the way that the beautiful salve in our ACA law will help to bring new healings to so many families. We can’t continue to allow this to happen in the most powerful and richest country in the world.

Our riches and power can and will be diminished when we do not take care of our hurting, hungry, helpless. We can do better than this. We go forth with grace to help our wonderful president and vice-president make beautiful things to occur in the lives of so many who need our helping and gracious hands. HZ

Good morning TOD family. Here in MT we are fighting fires. Lots of smoke in the skies. It is hot and windy so the fires are burning out of control. Several homes are burned and Hwy 12 a main road between MT and ID has been closed. The best we can hope for now is that the winds die down. These fires are all from lighting. They are in the mountains and very rough terrain. Not easy to fight. We pray for cooler weather and still air. Would love some rain to come. But remember there is no climate change.

So love seeing Bo having a playmate.

Prayers for the Biden family and all those suffering today.
