Gm all. How can Michelle look so beautiful returning from a vacation? I won’t tell you what I usually look like on a vacation return trip. And Sasha seems like a young woman now–so poised and beautiful. Wish PBO and his family could have another week at least. They had so little time together with the girls.
GM, andogriff.
It probably was NOT on TV! I don’t even bother to look anymore. I cme straight here.
“You can fool me once, shame on me. You can fool me twice, shame on…….oh shucks!
You know what I mean.(that fool GWB does it better) LOL!
What a scumbag. Turns out he’s also jealous of Pres. Obama. He really is the true characterization of the Napoleon Complex. I love that it burns him that he will never occupy the office Pres. Obama holds.
I asked Bloomberg if he could imagine joining the President’s Cabinet. In theory, he said, “it would be fascinating to be Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, jobs like that. Secretary of the Treasury, you want someone who’s a real economist”—and someone “who is maybe less opinionated.” Bloomberg thinks of himself as a team player, as long as it’s his team.
It is hard to imagine the endeavor that would sufficiently command Bloomberg’s restless ambition and vanity. He is an outsized character: the biggest plutocrat in a plutocratic capital, a creature of Wall Street who, flagrantly and legally, tapped his limitless bank account to become, and remain, mayor. Seeking a third term required him to ask the City Council to amend the City Charter on his behalf, about which he is unapologetic. “I can tell you that when it came to a third term the City Council majority thought it was good to change” the charter, he said. “And the public elected me.”
In private and in his natural social milieu, in the town houses and penthouses of the Upper East Side and Central Park West, Bloomberg is voluble, self-absorbed, brilliant. At dinner parties, while drinking copious amounts of wine, he makes plain his contempt for the New York Times, the media property friends say that he covets but most likely cannot own, and for President Obama, who occupies the office he craves but will never achieve.
“I am sympathetic that he has a Congress that is partisan,” Bloomberg told me, speaking of Obama. “In the past two hundred and thirty-five years, we’ve probably had lots of partisan Congresses. His job is to try to bring the parties together. And when he works at it he has actually done some pretty good things.” But he faults Obama for failing to invite members of Congress to join him on his regular rounds of golf, for instance, and for delegating to Congress the drafting of important regulatory legislation, such as the Dodd-Frank bill and the health-care law. “His job is to lead,” Bloomberg said. “He is the Chief Executive. It’s a separate but not an equal branch of government.”
UT, thanks for all this. It’s amusing to see Bloomberg try to school the president–a constitutional scholar–on the three branches of government. His ego really does know no bounds, but his knowledge of history is shaky, to say the least. The current House of Representatives is not just a ”partisan’ Congress (we could all deal with that), it’s a deliberately subversive, out-of-control group of anti-government radicals dedicated to undermining the economy and destroying the president. No president has had to deal with this. In Bloomberg’s mind, the president should be a dictator. That’s his idea of so-called leadership and the kind he would provide. He’s eaten up with jealousy that he does not have the popular appeal of President Obama. He is a cold fish who has a repellent “I am superior’ quality about him. NYC is lucky to be rid of him.
Sitting here at mechanic getting my brakes checked, oil changed and “summer” inspection. Hope it nothing real expensive and something that can be done fairly quickly.
WOW…thanks UT, for posting this. This man is truly SCUM of the earth. Bloomberg has done more economic damage to the working and lower-middle class in NYC than you could imagine. He simply made the city better for his rich friends but did very little else.
Happy Monday everyone. Our first family is amazing – always down to earth and smiling. I saw an old clip of George Bush this weekend walking to Marine One with his phony bravado and couldn’t help laughing at it.
Jackie, I know what you mean. POB has so much grace and humbleness when he enters and exits both Marine 1 and Airforce 1. I so appreciate how the entire family represents our nation. They will continue to receive blessings and favor because a lot of wonderful people are lifting them up daily in goodness of thoughts and prayers. As we should every president, but POB has had to take some much crap from these foolish and mean people, that our source of strength in our prayers have to be in line with the measure of our faith for him to be whole in his decisions, focus on his mission, safe in his movements, and lovingly gracious to the American people, not matter how hateful they are to him. He realizes where his strength comes from, believe me.
We are so grateful to Almighty, Mr. President and our First Family that you had a wonderful work vacation, and we are grateful that you are back and all together in the WH loving, praying, and working to continue to make this a better place for all Americans, but for our middle-class who have been hit very hard.
Lord, please give our president wisdom
Lord, please give our president physical strength
Lord, please give our president the will to continue to fight for all Americans
Lord, please order our president’s steps with your favor
Lord, please continue to surround our president with peace, love, and the fact that he is a beautiful instrument of peace and goodness.
We humbly and boldly ask these request with faith, hope, and gentle peace within our spaces in our own private spiritual beliefs. We Are One. Bless our nation and keep our servicemen and women in perfect peace and complete loving protective care. Amen. HZ
Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn (D) signed legislation Sunday that compels gun owners to report missing firearms to police and run background checks on potential buyers.
The legislation closed a loophole in Illinois law that allowed private parties to sell guns without a background check, even though gun show merchants and licensed firearm dealers had to perform the check, according to the Chicago Tribune. Beginning on Jan. 1, individual gun owners will be required to contact state police to verify the purchaser is allowed to have a gun before selling or transferring ownership of a firearm.
Gun owners were also required under the law to notify police within 72 hours of a weapon being lost or stolen, effective immediately, according to the newspaper.
great morning Chips and all…Chips I know you said you had risen but not shining as yet…in my eyes, you are always shining, no matter the time of day and any day!!!
Up and at ’em all you O’s!!!! What a great getting up day ’round the old TOD stoop!
I have been totally disconnected from most everything lately. #s 1 and 2, plus the grandkids were all home at the same time at some point during the summer, so I spent my time on the real important stuff. Now, #2 is the only one left for a short while before she leaves as well. It’s amazing to realize how much time and emotion I invested in the daily goings on of all things political. More amazing is that even without my fervent attention, the earth managed to remain on its axis, PBO continues in his presidency, pundits are still huffing and puffing about the same old stuff.
Oh well, being the political junky that I am, I kinda miss throwing house shoes at the TV and having my blood pressure go through the roof. Go figure.
Love you much, cookemom, but be good to yourself and watch that blood pressure. I know exactly what you mean. (((((( Lots of beautiful moments with your family.))))))))HZ

Good early bird morning, TODville! Fog horns blaring here and a cool breeze blowing through the window.
Great photos. Looks like Sasha is going through a growth spurt that just added about a foot to her height! She’s lovely!
Next year Sasha will be 13 years old. A teen-ager.
GM, andogriff.

Good morning TOD bots. What a beautiful family we have in the White House. Those girls are growing up so before our eyes.
UT, Bloomberg is such an egotistical jerk. He could never have the stature of humility, grace and wisdom that PBO has.
UT, thanks for all this. It’s amusing to see Bloomberg try to school the president–a constitutional scholar–on the three branches of government.
