A new cable channel, Fusion, is hitting the airwaves this October, and Jorge Ramos is warning Republicans that the new channel will be on their case, all the time, about immigration until reform becomes a reality.

“We’re going to come out on Oct. 28th, and if the House doesn’t approve immigration reform by then, then there’s going to be a new, very loud voice in Fusion, talking about immigration every single night until immigration reform passes,” Ramos said in an interview with The Huffington Post.

Fusion will be a joint ABC News-Univision effort that will be programmed in English and aimed at English-speaking Latinos (especially younger Latinos). Ramos–who currently anchors the nightly news program “Noticiero Univision” and hosts the Sunday news show “Al Punto”–will host a primetime segment. Ramos is also a very influential advocate of immigration reform, and his comments that the new channel will “own” the issue upon its launch should worry House Republicans who believe they can stall away the pressure for immigration reform until the pressure to pass a bill dies down.

The question going forward is which direction Speaker John Boehner is going to choose. Is he going to allow Reps. Steve King, Louis Gohmert (R-TX), Michelle Bachman (R-MN) and the “Hell No” caucus win the day, or is he going to fully support the efforts of Reps. Paul Ryan (R-WI), Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL), Rep. John Carter (R-TX), David Valladao (R-CA), David Amodei (R-NV) and others to get to yes on immigration reform with a path to citizenship?

A variation on the same question is this: Is Boehner going to allow Mark Krikorian of the Center for Immigration Studies (the intellectual author of self-deportation), Roy Beck of Numbers USA, Dan Stein of Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) and Kris Kobach (the author of the hated Arizona and Alabama anti-immigrant laws, and advisor to the Romney campaign) to brand the GOP as the Party that wants hard working immigrant families to get the hell out, or is he going to get enough of his caucus to side with the majority of Republicans, businesses small and big, high-tech companies, agricultural producers, evangelicals, Catholics, numerous conservative thought leaders and GOP donors?

The Hastert “Rule” isn’t in the Constitution, so Boehner should dump the Tea Party crazies and just bring the Senate Bill on Immigration reform to a vote in the House. They are consumed by hate.

And stupidity. Thank you, John McCain: without you elevating Sarah Palin I maintain the tea party never would have gotten the power they had. Of course, Dem’s deciding not to vote in 2010 didn’t help either.

But I still blame McCain. Completely.

Good Morning/Afternoon/Evening Chips and my TOD family. I’ve been up since 5:45 putting the trash out; water plants on entryway to condo; picked up papers for my two lovely neighbors, spoke to one while watering(they are just back from the beautiful state of OR. (OR in the house)
sprayed for ants. So hot here and the ants are driving me crazy. Legs gave out. Came in put the music on and did my prayers and meditations. We are all prayed up. Again love what Mr. Garth said about our beautiful President. Lifted our President and Cabinet up in prayers and our First Family and Second Family.

Had to take care of some business phone calls and more paper work. Almost done, but had to come and greet the day with my beautiful and loving Chips and TOD family. Be kind to your space and always try to put something beautiful in it for yourself and your children, family, and friends. Smile on the day that has been give to each of us from a Power that is generous, loving, peaceful, and gracious. Be lovingly blessed TOD family ((((((( Love you all so much.)))))))HZ

well you certainly called it. It always seemed quite suspicious that wikilinks seemed to so closely coincide with the timing of the Obama Administration… and all the hoopla with NSA came about around the time Susan Rice was appointed (I think). Anyway, all too coincidental.. kinda like the timing of the Tea Party.

On the otherhand this Julian Assange/ Snowden/ Greenwald have all behaved like rightwingers- right along with these folks who go on teevee ‘representing’ the left- yet were all repubs previously. I wonder if their followers are going to wise up or just finally admit they’re all rightwingers too.

It didn’t occur to me until one of our TOD friends wished me a happy birthday this last May and assumed that ’57’ meant May 7, my birthday. So – SOLD.

So humorous, even though it surrounds an ultra-serious topic.

MSNBC reports that McCain and Graham are recommending that the administration cancel aid to Egypt, after they went walkabout to Egypt.

And then, of course, MSNBC had to report that McCain and Graham went to Egypt as “emissaries” of the administration. So, once again, President Obama outsmarts ’em. Because he sent them and they are now making recommendations to him, which he requested, and he decides what’s next, not those buzzards. And it kept them off the streets of America for a bit.

Totally destroys their usual “bash the President” rhetoric. Our President must shake his head every day at their ludicrous ways.

    • August 16, 2013 at 2:40 pm

With the developments surfacing in the last day or so, why is this a surprise?

      – GG/Assange true “white supremacy” colors coming to light
      – Snowdenwald throw Edward’s flesh and blood (father) under the bus
      – GG’s job as mercenary, not journalist, being uncovered
      – WaPo artilce that quotes several Missourians as saying that the public treatment of President Obama is “mild” compared to smaller venues, that whites were brought up to believe that African Americans were “bad” (WTF)

All the White Privilege pieces are coming together, and the white MSM need to respond accordingly (i.e., denounce the reprehensible GG).

    Need a laugh?

Believe it or not… These are Memphis , TN ‘s REAL 911 Calls!

    Dispatcher:9-1-1 What is your emergency?

Caller: I heard what sounded like gunshots coming from the brown house on the corner.

Dispatcher: Do you have an address?

Caller: No, I have on a blouse and slacks, why?

    Dispatcher:9-1-1 What is your emergency?

Caller: Someone broke into my house and took a bite out of my ham and cheese sandwich .
    Dispatcher : Excuse me?

Caller: I made a ham and cheese sandwich and left it on the kitchen table and when I came back from the bathroom, someone had taken a bite out of it.

    Dispatcher: Was anything else taken?

Caller: No, but this has happened to me before and I’m sick and tired of it!

Dispatcher:9-1-1 What is the nature of your emergency?

Caller: I’m trying to reach nine eleven but my phone doesn’t have an eleven on it.
    Dispatcher: This is nine eleven.
Caller: I thought you just said it was nine-one-one
Dispatcher: Yes, ma’am nine-one-one and nine-eleven are the same thing.

Caller: Honey, I may be old, but I’m not stupid.

    My Personal Favorite!!

Dispatcher: 9-1-1 What’s the nature of your emergency?

Caller: My wife is pregnant and her contractions are only two minutes apart
Dispatcher: Is this her first child?

Caller: No, you idiot! This is her husband!

    And the winner is……….

    Dispatcher: 9-1-1

Caller: Yeah, I’m having trouble breathing. I’m all out of breath. Darn….I think I’m going to pass out.

Dispatcher: Sir, where are you calling from

Caller: I’m at a pay phone. North and Foster.

Dispatcher: Sir, an ambulance is on the way. Are you an asthmatic?

    Caller: No

Dispatcher: What were you doing before you started having trouble breathing?
    Caller: Running from the Police

    • August 16, 2013 at 3:27 pm

Yardam, I’m trying to pick me self off the floor from laughing so hard. I may need to call 911 and blame you for putting me here. Hahahaha ROFL 😀 😀 😀

Me too….my eyes are tearing up for laughing so hard…..”I am out of breathe and about to have a heart attach because I running from the police”

True story: My mothers neighbor, Ernie, called the police and he got into it with them (he’s white). The police came into his apartment to arrest him and he faked a heart attack so they took him across town to the general hospital instead of taking him down to the police station (this is LAPD). At the hospital the officer had him handcuffed to the bed and he complained to the nurse he was uncomfortable and could not breathe. The nurse yelled at the cops and made them take the handcuffs off. The cops left on another call and as soon as they left Ernie gave the nurse a song and dance about his wife (who was at work) was home alone and he needed to get home to take care of her so the hospital released him. Did the cops come back to arrest him…HELL NO.

I mentioned this to you earlier this week, but take a gander at the roads and bridges in the US National Parks.

Almost all were built in the 1930s by CCC.

Americans need to wake up that much of our infrastructure is nearing 100 years old.

We built the country for the 20th century during a damned Depression, because Democrats and enough Republicans who understood about improving their country made it happen. By the way, the United States government has been investing in public works since its foundation. What is so terrifying is how few people even know this part of our history now, how little is taught in school.

NSA Rule Violations Matter, but Aren’t Severe

    By Joshua Foust

Nevertheless, the predictable suspects are screaming “police state” as if police states audit their own misconduct and undertake measures to reduce them over time. Which is a real loss here — there remain serious issues of program design, legal constraints, and oversight issues with the NSA. But, much like drones last year, exaggerations, hyperbole, and florid, borderline unintelligence polemic is replacing any sort of rational discussion about what proper roles are and how effective oversight might be strengthened. And to repeat: that is a real loss.

She would have been more RW on absolutely everything, including NSA. She would have had a more bombastic foreign policy to prove that a woman can do a man’s job (and I mean that facetiously, because I believe that administrative ability and leadership are gender-blind).

Re-regulate anything? What, pray tell, is in her record that indicates that?
