What’s up?
I think I’m heading off fairly early tonight, so you all have a good night!
Sleep well VC. You’ve had a busy day on TOD.
Hi VV! Not going just this minute, but will slip out the door soon.
Welcome back LL with the beautiful music.
Love Eartha Kitt. One of a kind!
I needed to keep my posting chops in practice.
Gorgeous post LL, ****brilliant**** music – thank you!!!
Hi LL, nice to see you back in harness!
Well, not quite yet. Next week should be easier.
Hiya LL! Thanks for getting things started!
Nice selections in the post. Although, I kinda had something a little more funky in mind… 😀
‘I kinda had something a little more funky in mind…’
😆 Don’t you almost always?
🙂
Isn’t next week vacation time?
yep!
Have fun!
Hello my dear! Why, whatever do you mean? 🙂
LL will be on vacation; and so will Japa, if I remember correctly.
Well, we know why next week will be an easier week for LL.
Um Chips, you did save me a piece of cake, DIDN’T YOU? 🙂
Congrats on first VC! Good to see you around LL, hope all is well on your end?
Anybody who missed Arapaho’s referencing of the #Discover button on your Twitter toolbar…..here is a primer:
…. in you Settings options you check the box *Personalization* that says do you want a) Tailor Twitter based on my recent website visits b) https://twitter.com/who_to_follow/web_personalized ( leave ON) & a good explainer https://support.twitter.com/articles/20169421
I discovered Discover a couple of weeks ago! Love it!
It’s great especially if you have been at work or out all day…….you don’t have to scroll 10 hrs. worth of your timeline….. Tweetdeck is “can’t live w/o as well” ……. can individualize categories into verticals. Life savor….especially during real-time events.
Gotta get Tweetdeck. Keep hearing about that.
Jay is THE MAN
Wasn’t that hideously cool??!!
Ri-DIC-cu-lous!!!
Mass Production ~ Firecracker
I came in late and spent so much time trying to catch up yet I’m still behind by a couple of posts. So wanted to give a great big shout out and send my happiest birthday wishes to Blog Tyrant Extraordinaire, the Unstoppable Ms Chipsticks before calling it a nite. Lots of lovely tributes from the heart. Luv ya lady Chips!
21 again huh! Magical 😆
The same group of people who the audacity to ” blind quote trash ” President Obama on a moments notice…..
A letter that a group of progressive Democrats sent to federal regulators opposing new protections for millions of Americans’ retirement accounts was drafted by a financial-industry lobbyist, according to documents obtained by Mother Jones. The Department of Labor, which oversees the federal law setting minimum standards for many retirement plans, would like to require retirement investment advisers to act in the best interest of their customers, as opposed to their own best interest.
But 28 out of the 43 members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC)—a group of African American members of Congress that advocates the interests of low-income people and minorities—signed onto a June 14 letter opposing the rule. So did Democratic lawmakers Pedro Pierluisi of Puerto Rico, Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii, Ed Pastor of Arizona, and Jim Costa of California. The letter’s metadata indicates it was drafted by Robert Lewis, a lobbyist who works for the Financial Services Institute (FSI), an investment industry trade group:
In lieu of Dudette, and TOD’s twitter activity yesterday…..if your not a believer, check out this study and correlating video/articles re: Twitter
The findings rest on two important points: The raw number of tweets about a candidate doesn’t matter, and neither does whether the tweets are positive or negative. Rojas and his colleagues, who collected hundreds of thousands of tweets from the 2010 race, initially measured the total number of times the candidate was mentioned, but the findings failed to correlate with which candidate won. Well-known candidates, like Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., or candidates from bigger and wealthier districts would inherently receive more attention. It was then, Rojas said, they realized that what mattered was the Twitter “horse race,” or the number of tweets a candidate earns vis-à-vis his or her opponent. Just as the candidates would compete for a limited percentage of the vote, they would also compete for a limited percentage of the total Twitter traffic.
Perhaps most interesting, whether the tweet praised or criticized the recipient was irrelevant. When it comes to Twitter and politicians, apparently all publicity really is good publicity. “Are you going to talk about the guy who loses or the guy who wins?” Rojas asked. “You’re going to talk about the winner, even if you hate the winner.”
I BELIEVE, I BELIEVE, Brother LP!
President Obama liked the idea laid out in a memo from his staff: an ambitious plan to expand high-speed Internet access in schools that would allow students to use digital notebooks and teachers to customize lessons like never before. Better yet, the president would not need Congress to approve it.
White House senior advisers have described the little-known proposal, announced earlier this summer under the name ConnectEd, as one of the biggest potential achievements of Obama’s second term.
PBO is never more endearing than when he’s interacting with kids! He just glows!
LL, great group, but you missed including the late great George Duke.
Ah! Let’s fix that right now…
George Duke ~ Reach For It
Dudette!!!!!!
You’re awesome! thank you 🙂
Thanks GGail! So are you! 🙂
holy moly what am I still doing up? Oh wait
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
(nitey nite TOD)
You gone Alice? Thought you were a party girl. 🙂
Oh well, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. Rest well!
This is the kind of stuff I absolutely detest about the Clintons:

Glad everyone’s enjoying the music. Off to watch the track & field championships and read. Three more days until blessed vacation. Night all.
Nite Friend! See you again soon (hopefully).
OK my fellow Auburn alum won the PGA Championship Sunday…….. shoutout to my man Jason Dufner
My buzzer just went off….. off to the tables. Hopefully I won’t be drawing to inside straights like yesterday. My pocket Jacks got crushed as well:( GN TOD!
Went down to the basement and pulled this one out for Yardarm! 😀
Lee Dorsey – Everything I Do Gon’ Be Funky (From Now On)
Did someone say we need more COWBELLS?!!! 😀
Herman Kelly ~ Dance to the Drummer’s Beat
Dudette, you sure did drop us into some Funk gurl 🙂
😀 Are you dancin’ yet?
Okey dokey, I’m finally outta here after spending the entire birthday in the village! Now I’m truly heading to bed. Dudette, you are responsible for the lights. 😉 Sweet Dreams, everyone who’s still around!
“If you know yourself, then you’ll not be harmed by what is said about you.”~ Arabian proverb
Sorry I missed ya VC! Sleep well!
You didn’t, D! I hung back to read that Clinton article that Meta shared. Gave up halfway through – my conclusion to that point = they don’t know how to manage ‘public’ funds or how to choose capable managers. Reading about their money issues reminded me that PBO helped Hillary pay off her last campaign obligations. Each time I see mention of her running in 2016 I cringe. She just doesn’t seem right for the position going forward IMO.
Ah me, I’m definitely ‘off’ this time. 😀
Sigh! Okay, if you must gotta….
VC, Ms Clinton is not the future America needs. So, I could not agree more with your assessment.
By the time we get to mid-2015 my expectation is that President Obama & @OFA will be nurturing a truly exceptional candidate.
#TrustBarack – He’s in it for the DURATION (as are all genuine ‘community organizers’)
Yes WE Can
I’m with you on this! Hope Democrats don’t screw up 2016 – not to mention 2014!
Bobfr, I sure hope you are right about PBO & OFA nurturing a great candidate. Just now I saw another reference to Hillary preparing herself by entering academia [[Hillary Clinton is fielding offers from colleges and universities — including Harvard and her law school alma mater, Yale — to give her a formal academic role, a move that would give her a platform…]] and my absolute first reaction is that despite her education and experience I would find her to be a boring lecturer. She just doesn’t have that special something that would endear her to *me*.
C’mon now twril, and twirl, and twil, and… [woooo, I’m dizzy]
Tom Browne – Funkin’ for Jamaica
Pointer Sisters ~ Yes We Can Can
Happy birthday Ms. Chipsticks. Thank you for this delightful and informative blog.
Ronnie Laws ~ Always There
GREETINGS FROM MALAYSIA, right across the planet!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY Ms. Chips….and thank you very much for confirmation of PBO’s visit to Malaysia in October…..woohoo….finally, after 5 years of silently drooling over TODville…..
Hi There OBAMARANEE! Glad to see friends from Malaysia joining the fun! Hope you’re enjoying the music!
Hi Dudette – great choice of music, also enjoy your sense of humour!! Have been lurking TODville since 2008, loved the roller coaster FUN ride of his election & re-election!!
Hello!!! 🙂
Hiya…thanks for the welcome!!
Bet you thought KC & the Sunshine originated the song. Um, no.
George McCrae ~ I Get Lifted
happy B-day chips. Apologise for the delay as it must be the 14th in your part of the world.
Thank you, LL.
Bottom line – to ALL the racist HATERS …..
Yes We Are – the new media (Dudette & others proved it in the past 24h); the force for equity; the irrepressible font of empathy & our President knows WE HAVE HIS BACK
time for some rest
Love that tweet, Bob!
Thank you, Bob. This is a much needed comment. And, yes, Dudette and others proved the power of the social media. A 15 year old boy would have died unnoticed if not for the outrage on twitter. Now he has a chance.
Night everyone:) Wonderful day. It’s a LYAO toon.
Older school…….
More older school…….:-)
Here ya go.
Way way back! Go JOB!!! 🙂
Ha! My older sister introduced that song to my younger sister and me back in ’59. Once in a while when we call each other, one of us plays it in the background for the other. She also taught us to “jitterbug” while we all watched American Bandstand. Good times.
Goodnight to you, Dudette, and – again – I am so happy our young man will, hopefully, get his heart transplant! If folks didn’t know what was in your own heart before last night, you showed ’em. Thanks for standing up and being counted and helping to call attention to that unfairness! Off I go to dreamland.
Last older school from yardarm tonight…….;-)
Aww, Sailor! You got all mushy on me. You softy you! That brings back memories big time!
Oh thank goodness! I’m running out of steam. Glad to see other TODers here to keep things rolling along! 🙂
Billy Preston ~ Outta Space
Green Onions ~ Booker T & the MGs
I’ll add this little treasure, with a dash of British humour! Goodnight, TODville. (Chips – Enjoy the day after!)
Fred Wesley & the JBs ~ Pass the Peas

Gonna let Herbie take me home. Good night Everyone! Hope it was a fun birthday party Chipsticks & Cha!
I’m literally slipping into TOD just before midnight on the West Coast. Happy Birthday, Chips – hope it was a lovely day!
