The People’s View: President Obama Slays Edward Snowden’s “Whistleblower” Myth

The president also hit the nail on the head on head when he called out the canonization of a traitor (Edward Snowden), by pointing out the fact that he and not Edward Snowden had called for a review of the surveillance programs and their transparency – and that Snowden’s only contribution to that process was to disrupt it and hurt the actual debate by generating heat rather than light, as well as the fact that it was the president that provided safeguards for whistleblowers within the intelligence community.

If Edward Snowden actually believed himself to be a whistleblower acting in the interest of his country rather than for the political benefit of himself and the global attention whores like Glenn Greenwald, he would have noticed that President Obama has, since taking office, been the strongest advocate for whistleblowers that has ever occupied the oval office. He took pains to stop agency retaliations against whistleblowers. Just a few examples

How Fascinated I am by all things PBO///I have never watched with such anticipation to see AF1 take off….but I must say…I do indeed find it fascinating…..

Yup, we were saying the same thing the other day. How many of us cared about AF1 taking off/landing prior to 2009? Unless you were an aeronautics buff, not many of us can claim that we were interested before PBO came on the scene!!

thanksssssssss….DF…..you are the kind of teacher that I was blessed with when I was in high school…her name was Sr Mary Trainer…she was an extraordinary teacher….I credited her with expanding my humanity and inner searching of self…at a turbulent time in my development…she challenged me to think outside the box…outside of stereotypes…

{{{{{PF}}}}} Thank you so much. Thank you. Means everything to hear that. I hope that everyone has a teacher that does that for their kids….they ALL should be that teacher, but we know that won’t be the case…..so lucky that you had Sr. Mary Trainer in your life:) “Outside the box” is not just what I live in school…it’s how I live my life. Just how my brain works…that, and a passionate love of those kids. Thank you again for your kind words….

Found this article from June….this attests to some of what we have talked about…and why the Media is fascinated with the NSA vs say Stop and Frisk!

…According to TV Eyes, the NSA scandal has been mentioned on cable almost 3,000 times in a little over a week, since the Verizon story broke. In a sense, this is commendable, because despite the American people’s clear apathy about this kind of surveillance, journalists have decided that this is important. That’s one of the most important functions that the Fourth Estate can serve.

Would you like to know how many mentions there have been about a story in which the government systematically performs warrantless searches of millions of innocent Americans’ phone records? Two hundred and sixty-seven.

it wasn’t 267 this past week, it was 30. It was 267 mentions these past three months. Oh, and it wasn’t warrantless searches of phone numbers and call times, it was warrantless searches of actual American people’s persons, their physical, IRL bodies.

…Why is that? It’s hard to tell, but maybe it has something to do with the fact that the Stop and Frisk policy overwhelmingly affects the privacy of innocent black and Latino people.

…If the last several weeks have made one thing clear about the media, it’s that the best way to get them to care about government abuse, or anything, is to do it to white people.

.STOP and Frisk is a REAL abuse of civil liberty happening to REAL people ….whereas the hoopla of NSA is about the POTENTIAL for abuse… but what has been revealed over and over again is that there has been NO NSA abuse.

This has been my response to every “libertarian” when they talk about civil liberties and they start throwing out the silly security and fear quotes. It shuts them up every time. They know that they are lying about caring about civil liberties. If rand paul is so concerned about minorities, why hasn’t he been fighting against these programs?

    Good Rise& Shine morning. TODers!
Wow! What another fascinating week with POB and TODville. It just gets better with time.
Off today to my niece’s “Trunk Party”. She is going away to college and is having a party for family and friends to fill up her “trunk”. I thought it was cute until I visited her Registry. Why does every party have to have a Registry these days?
    I plan to have fun!

I hope everyone here enjoy your weekend. I pray for a peaceful vacation for our President and his family. I am sure the “haters” are stirring up BS because he sure did dropthemic on their asses at the press conference yesterday. Including that coward Snowstorm. Why these idiots calling him a hero is so obvious they hate PBO. And frankly, Mr. President and TODers, DON’T GIVE A DAMN!

He should be getting homesick in about a month or two. What fool would trade the beautiful view of Hawaii for Russia? I just have a feeling they may try to plan something real stupid for the Olympics. That will show how insanely desperate they are. Hopefully, we will be done with them forever. It is one gorgeous day here in NYC. I hope it remains that way during the vacation of our FIrst Family. They sure deserve nothing but the best!

    • August 10, 2013 at 10:27 am

he sure did dropthemic on their asses at the press conference yesterday ….

      Yes LDS….
One of my favorite moments of the presser….brought a HUGE smile to my face and made me LOL…..have I said how much I love our President?….well…let me say…How PROUD I am to have Barack Hussein Obama as my President…smiling!

Mooooooooorning everyone, mooooooorning UT, thank you sooooooo much for R&S, a beautiful start to the weekend. PS Tommy Christopher = pure gold!

    Good morning, TODville.

We’ve been rightly criticizing Congress for working less than 1/3 of the year, but here’s a conservative Republican Senator who is making himself available today for a topic of concern in the Mountain West:

President Obama is so GOOD with children.

I’ve never seen the video with his niece, just adorable. She kind of plunks herself down, and POTUS joins her! And then picks her up when she begs him too, and she gets tossed too!

How great would it be to have an Uncle Barack?

This is just too much, and here’s the kicker:
On Monday, WikiLeaks noted that Snowden joins WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange and leaker Army Pfc. Bradley Manning in having been nominated for Nobels, but the organization in a series of tweets decried the committee as a “corrupt” tool of foreign policy.

Why would these morons want the the same prize that President Obama received considering that they think President Obama is the great satan?

      • 56 arkluvspbo
        August 10, 2013 at 9:21 pm

Don, because secretly they love President Obama, and they would LOVE to have the NPP, but like young children who scream and cry when they don’t get what they want — to make themselves feel better they will put others down.
We just have to remember we are dealing with a bunch of 5 year olds, and then we just deal with them accordingly.

“It would also become something of an odd partner in what has become a contentious project, especially after Reince Priebus, the chairman of the Republican National Committee, threatened to keep presidential debates involving Republican candidates off both NBC and its news channel MSNBC, if it went ahead with what he called a “promotional movie about the life of Hillary Clinton.”

Is this a threat, or a promise —seems to me it’s the latter 🙂

I’m sick of Snowden and I’m sick of talking about the NSA. If anybody tells you that they are shocked that our government has spies operating inside and outside of this country, you should ask them where have they been the last hundred years. How do you think we got bin laden, by eavesdropping on cellphone calls, that’s how we got bin laden. How do you think most crimes are solved, they are solved by using technology such as tapping phones, reading emails, DNA, Fingerprints, checking bank statements etc. But no, everyone wants to act like spying began under President Obama. Every industrialized country in the world has spies operating inside and outside of their boarders. You want to tap my phone, go ahead. You want to read my emails, knock yourself out.

I know a President is never off duty, but I am glad POTUS is on his way to Martha Vineyard for a week vacation with FLOTUS and Malia and Sasha. As I said yesterday I wish it was a longer vacation, but it’s not. So I hope they relax, and enjoy themselves.
