I find myself wishing I had a glass of wine in my hand. Red wine. After toasting to a lovely (if ridiculously short) vacay for the Family Obama, and TOD!
    I would drink it! 😉

MightyPamela, If I were there in your beautiful part of the country, I would have a glass for you on a lovely silver tray.. Having one myself anyway and remembering you my dear beautiful candle angel. Hope all is going fine with you. HZ

They don’t make shows like that anymore. There were lessons to be learned that they don’t care about teaching, anymore.

Went home to NOLA for a few hours and got a hold of my aunt’s camera cause she wanted me to download her pics from it and get them printed out for her (she’s old school…lol).

So I’ve been spending the last few hour looking at the pics. Found some great pics of my baby Maddie

Here’s Maddie and Darryl. He’s 25 years older. My aunt was 42 when she had Maddie

Indeed, PrettyFoot! And the two groups hate the president because of ideology and pure racism.

    • 36 jackiegrumbacher
      August 11, 2013 at 8:07 am

Well, Pf, it’s their loss. They’re missing the joy of the best president they will ever see and they’re corroding their souls with hatred in the process. In the meantime, the president keeps on doing great things and we keep on loving him. So that makes us–the majority of Americans–the lucky ones.

Weirdest story of the day award——-couple abandons U.S. because they think govt. is interfering with their religious beliefs—–don’t like womens’ choice or gay stuff. So they pile their 2 young children and a father in law in a sailboat and take off for the tiny island of Kiribati—-?—–out there somewhere—–least developed spot they could find——or wherever God would lead them. Of course they ran into bad storms which damaged boat—-do not think these were expert sailors, or even close——and were adrift for weeks before a Venezuelan fishing boat picked them up, spent weeks with them, then transferred to a Japanese cargo boat, spent weeks with them, until eventually arriving in Chile. And of course—-U.S. state dept. is coming to the rescue, flying them back to Ca. God led them back to California, I guess.

    • August 10, 2013 at 11:58 pm

Ignorance is bliss, I guess. And they’ll never know a moment of shame or admit their folly.

    • August 11, 2013 at 12:01 am

Dumbasses they are. Why didn’t they call on their God to save them? Now they want US govt help?

    • 49 jacquelineoboomer
      August 11, 2013 at 12:13 am

Setting aside the thought of the young children they put in peril, I think what happened to them is hysterical. Am I bad? (Who cares, if I am, in this case.)

      • 50 HZ
        August 11, 2013 at 12:35 am

No, jacquelineoboomer, you are not bad. You are so thoughtful and you are speaking to the truth of using common sense.HZ

      • 52 nathkatun7
        August 11, 2013 at 1:25 am

JOB, may be I am bad too, because I felt the same as way as you did. I felt bad for the children, but I just couldn’t stop laughing at the idiocy of this couple. Seriously, I also think that a case could be made to show that they are unfit parents.

        • 53 jacquelineoboomer
          August 11, 2013 at 1:27 am

Definitely “unfit,” in my mind! Maybe somebody’s paying attention to that part of the story, after the publicity.

Have the parents learned a lesson? Probably not.

      • 55 arkluvspbo
        August 11, 2013 at 9:14 am

It IS hysterical, because they went through all of that, and they ended up having a blast. THey needed that adventure, but I really hope they learned their lessons. Otherwise they won’t be so lucky next time.

“Big Bad Gov’t to the rescue

    • August 11, 2013 at 12:56 am

In a very slightly similar way, a facebook acquaintance of mine, who is very anti-choice, anti-marriage equality, anti-government, anti-health care, anti-anti, posted a link today giving information about people who may be eligible for Pell grants and not know it. I did comment about what a great GOVERNMENT program it is and how wonderful that the GOVERNMENT is giving people a shot at higher education. I didn’t go into the part about Republicans cutting the grants in their ‘budget’ because I didn’t want her to take the post down. But really.

    • 61 57andfemale
      August 11, 2013 at 2:30 am

I will never understand how other people’s faiths are an infringement on their religious freedom. But it’s okay for them to theocratize the entire government and society to their whim? So no one is entitled to ‘freedom’ but them?

      god.

Hannah Gastonguay said the family will now “go back to Arizona” and “come up with a new plan.”
      ————-
So they’ll come up with a new plan for some new adventure, and then get rescued–all on the dime of the American taxpayer. They were lucky once…they might not be so lucky a second time, if they don’t learn from the first.

The lovely young brothers, James and Ryan were so sweet in their reactions when asked how it was seeing the President of the United States. These are the beautiful young people all over this country that we here on TOD are fighting for each and everyday with the brilliant leadership of our wonderful Chips. Supporting our President. It is worth it when these young people get it. Loved that clip. So lovely and respectful. This is what FLOTUS and POTUS talk about as they travel all across this country. Beautiful, bright, kind, loving, and visionary people of all walks of life who love this country and love their President.

Obsessively checking weather at the Vineyard——looks like the Obamas will have a picture perfect day for first full day of vacay there——sunny and high of 77. So good news there! Similar here in Illinois, minus the spectacular setting. (altho I can always find nature and beauty to appreciate here also—–an adorable bunny couple scampering about in backyard, super smart little gophers running across deck, a stunning cardinal couple who sing us awake every a.m., big furry yellow and black bees loving the sweetness of the coneflowers, teeny, vibrant hummingbirds, the sleepy dove who naps daily on deck railing, industrious bushytails hard at work, showing new babies the ropes, an occasional coyote and lovely deer families trotting through, a goose couple who hang out by neighborhood pond—–they mate for life, you know—–isn’t that romantic?) So—–beauty everywhere—–now I don’t feel so bad about not hanging with the Obamas in the Vineyard. 🙂

Not surprised, if it’s a generator used in case of a power failure it will smoke due to generator blowing out dried debris. I’m required to do a monthly generator test at the power-plant that I work at, and smoke coming from the exhaust happens all the time.

Jovie, CarolMae, etc. did any of you see the shooting stars last night? I didn’t. I checked outside at about 1AM local time but saw nothing 😦 Will try again tomorrow morning. I don’t think my location is ideal for viewing either – too many city lights.
