As soon as I get more info, I’ll let you know. I just found out about it yesterday. Attended our Camp OFA event Monday evening, about 10 folks turned out, all except one were new to me. But there’s a different way to describe the situation. That would be to say that the 44th president, like his 43 predecessors, believes that the United States should honor its sovereign debt, as part of maintaining the “full faith and credit of the United States.” He also believes that the policy on government spending first applied under George Washington and in force since then should still be the policy now: once Congress has voted programs or benefits into law, then the government is legally and morally obligated to carry out those programs, until and unless they are repealed.*
To which the other “side” to the dispute replies: Who cares! We don’t like you or your programs, and to prove it we’re willing to risk a default on the national debt.
If you describe the “disagreement” the first way, no one’s really to blame. It’s just politics, a sign of the symmetrical dysfunction that plagues us all.
The only good thing is that it’ll be another way for current and future generations to learn about what happened to Trayvon, to preclude its happening again – at least if our prayers are heard. But it’s too early to be anything but sad about the entire matter.

Glenn Greenwald keeps promising more “bombshells” from the trove of classified documents Snowden leaked. But after today, he’s going to run into some competition for the media’s attention.
The Obama administration plans to release previously secret court orders that set out the rules and rationale for the bulk collection of U.S. phone records as officials seek to quell growing unrest in Congress over the government’s massive information dragnet.
According to a senior U.S. official, the government has declassified the order by the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, or FISA court, that authorized the collection program, which began in 2007…
Still LOL about a diary at The Daily Kos entitled: “Chuck Todd Is An Ass and Other (a)Musings”.

The source would have to be another House Democrat?
If TRUE, why are House Democrats so volatile with somebody on the side of progressives 75% of the time?
Most likely so. I vividly remember in 2009 interview with CBS or NBC (something like that) and PBO is in the Beast with a reporter, they make a stop at 5 Guys for lunch and while he was exiting the car Reggie Love says “hold on Sir” gesturing him to stay in the car and PBO says “ahhh no it’s okay” and exits the car. The reporter described it as a flash of anger, heavily rolls eyes. They are so eager to paint him as rude or angry when he’s a very gracious guy and also human.
That is the dumbest article——Dana Bash and colleague just fishing for something negative to write about Obama. Tiresome. The NY Dem said he wasn’t offended, he wanted a commitment on info about a biz loan in his district from the president and he got it. It’s like reporters are running up to everyone and pleading, ” Do you have anything bad you can say about President Obama? Please! We’ve got a deadline!”
So true J’OB. People like her always go for the stuff that has no substance or depth. God forbid that they should report on PBO’s

Yup! Another exchange about Larry summers to the FED.
Something about the questions in the house democratic caucus?
About POTUS responses?
I would get a little upset with these jagged questions coming from your side.
But I doubt he went off, as reported.
That’s ridiculous.
Hi Sjterrid…..just saw your question while catching up on the last post. I am volunteering with the Corey Booker campaign in Bergen County
at the DNC offices.
Actually they are emulating The Drudge Report with their color coded (stop the presses) headlines. Huff and Puff has played out and most supporters of PBO find that place repulsive.
They should know by now that PBO has no respect for that gossip site. He has criticized them before. There are a lot of people who agree with him. I heard Hal Sparks talking negatively about it sometime ago.
We need Heikemp’s vote for sure, even if it puts another nail in her coffin in No Dak. She survived a really gruesome election, where they really hit her below the belt. However, if she managed to fight her way to a win, then she might as well go all in now while she still has 5 years before she has to face re-election. If not, why did she fight so hard for the seat? Of course this doesn’t excuse the one more ‘Pub who could cast their vote yea. There has to be a ‘safe’ northern ‘pub out there (of course when McDonnell is a RINO, then no ‘pub is ever safe).
wait….didn’t she know there’d be that vote today? Maybe she was delayed by Bison roaming the highway as she sped to the airport. Srsly, they have Bison roaming the street in the part of No. Dakota my #1 lives.
Huffington Poop headline very offensive. Maybe I’m over sensitive, but I think the word “boy” in the same sentence as PBO is a barely veiled dog whistle.
Flame away, guys, but I don’t like Lawrence Summers’ past positions and I hope PBO doesn’t squander political capital on this guy. He’s DLC through and through and was a huge proponent of the deregulation that brought this country down in 2008. I know he moderated his views somewhat but he would have to convince me that he doesn’t hold the same beliefs. Willing to reserve judgment until I hear his views, but I think there are better choices to steer the Fed.
It makes you wonder why, in this day and age of technology, the members have to vote in person. Surely there must be ways that they can vote remotely with security measures in place. How much money would the tax payers save if we didn’t have to pay to shuttle them back and forth home just for a vote. Committee meetings and floor arguments can even be done virtually
That is in the constitution……Senators and House members must be present to cast their votes. It was done so…..way back then so US Congress are not stuck in their home states………

Less than a month after being acquitted of second-degree murder charges related to his killing of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman was reportedly caught speeding Wednesday, with a gun in the glove compartment of his vehicle. The incident took place in the town of Forney, Tex., TMZ reports.
Zimmerman, who informed police that the weapon was in the car shortly after being pulled over, was asked where he was going, to which he responded, “nowhere in particular,” according to the site.
This is the second time Zimmerman has been in the news since his trial ended on July 13.
White House vows veto of bill carving IRS out of ObamaCare rollout

An OMB statement comes ahead of an expected vote on the “Keep the IRS Off Your Health Care Act”…
Why did they run out of time? It’s only Wednesday, isn’t it? They aren’t leaving town until Friday.
If they ran out of time, it’s because the rest of this week will be dedicated to passing the Don’t Cast Aspersions On My Asparagus Act and a series of other nonsensical legislative fart jokes.
Drafting appropriations bills in the House has been made more difficult because Republican leadership has dictated that all bills must fit within the Paul Ryan Path to Poverty budget framework which would balance the budget in 10 years. This as affected passage of the defense appropriations bill as well as the farm bill and transportation bill.
I wonder how many more hundreds of hours our media is going to spend on Weiner’s weiner. What a huge waste of air time, just beyond ridiculous——every single news program and talk show and entertainment show has spent a majority of their time slot on this, all have this as their opening top story. Tweety and Fineman are now giggling away at this as if they were 12 year old boys behind the barn with Playboy. Maybe we need to try to find a way to add some kind of (fake) sexual element to issues we want them to pay attention to. It’s that bad, that desperate.
That, and the Manning stupidity coming out of Jim Ward. manning had legal options if he wanted to blow the whistle on wrongdoing during war and in violation of his oath. 720,000 documents indiscriminately dumped is treason. Certainly Americans aren’t interested in reading it, but our enemies are.
Yet Jim Ward thought it was heroic, and all that b.s. There was yet another Wiener call, and then one for PBO to pardon Manning, and I’d had it. I couldn’t stomach another minute and turned the show off.
Afternoon, all.
Congrats on first! BTW, have you heard about the “Hands Across PA” event on Aug 21st?
Only vaguely, Alycee. The event hadn’t gotten on my calendar. Will have see see what our nearest location is.

PBO is so funny. I can’t believe he did that thumb pop. 🙂
After reading this, it sounds like “making a mountain out of a mold hill” as my mother use to say. Sounds petty.
Code word:…Pbo is UPPITY…
BINGO!!!
It’s like reporters are running up to everyone and pleading, ” Do you have anything bad you can say about President Obama? Please! We’ve got a deadline!”
So, who are these “sources”…highly doubtful they are “Democratic”
Bahahahahaha….Pres. Obama executing a perfect Z-snap is the moment of the day.
I did not know the name UT, but he did it a lot better than I could have.
That was AWESOME!!!!
Is this true? I find it hard to believe that the President has to fight with House Democrats?
Albeit…
I just told Dana she’s a gossip monger. She lives for this stuff. #FAIL
Miss Dana was also married to John King. Enough said.
Yep. Cannot stand either of them.
I agree, Jacqueline…..”Punch and Judy”
The one who put out the information in the Boston bombing they were looking for a dark skin suspect.
So true J’OB. People like her always go for the stuff that has no substance or depth. God forbid that they should report on PBO’s
policy initiatives that he has been hammering on for the past 2 weeks. You know, she and others like her should just go and work
for the ‘Enquirer’ trash tabloid. No further training needed, she is fully qualified.
She could teach the Enquirer 101 class. Too bad they have no “observant ego” – she sure must not know how she comes across to others.
I don’t think these 21st century reporters actually can recognize substance – I really don’t. They are so ….so….. empty-headed.
Dana Bash loves mess. She always ask gossipy type questions.
Gives women reporters a bad name. Well, I’d say that, but today’s men “reporters” are gossipy just like she is.
CNN, what else would we expect from TeaNN, I mean CNN. From what I read the person who ask the question had no problem with POTUS answer.
Someone just want to start trouble.
Yup! Another exchange about Larry summers to the FED.
Something about the questions in the house democratic caucus?

I would get a little upset with these jagged questions coming from your side.
But I doubt he went off, as reported.
That’s ridiculous.
I don’t believe it either Jovie. It is not PBO’s style to go off on anyone. remember all of the Emos hated Geitner also.
Oh brother…more poutrage fodder for the emprogs whining that POTUS hates them and bends over backward for Republicans, even though that’s a load.
That’s why it’s somewhat believable, although, the President probably didn’t go off on them as reported!
I seriously doubt it but if it were true, I personally could give a rats a&&. If somehow PO got snarky, well my take is they most likely deserved it.
moving on…
These “pundits” are so god-awful boring.
Hi Sjterrid…..just saw your question while catching up on the last post. I am volunteering with the Corey Booker campaign in Bergen County
at the DNC offices.
Thank you for that support!
Thanks for responding, Hope44.
OMG, can this squeak through?
Are you watching FLOTUS’ chief of staff being interviewed on C-Span? It sounds interesting so far. I posted link below.
Hello, vc! No, I’m following the Senate at the moment……
Alrighty, then. 😀
Just realized I didn’t say, ‘Hi’. 🙄 Starting again –
Good Afternoon, Meta! 😛
HOWDY!!
😀
What bill are they voting on Meta?
Voting on cloture for ATF nomination. Postition hasn’t been filled for 7 years due to NRA lobbying!
Thx Meta.
Now down to Heitkamp…..
I’m checking C-Span TV every now and then, afraid to look! THIS BETTER GO THROUGH.
Where is Heidi???? She needs to appear and cast her Aye vote
Tina Chen – Chief of Staff for FLOTUS is on C-Span right now – they are introducing her now.

ATF nominee just got filibustered 59- 41.
1 vote away and they couldn’t get it?
Embarrassing?
Did Heitkamp vote?
Where is she ? She has not been on the floor for a vote in days..
Lisa Murkowski switched her vote to yes.
So, once Heitcamp votes we should have enough?
That’s huge for Murkowski to flip her vote!!!
YES. But WHERE is Heidi. Damn!
c-span says 59-40 and still waiting for Heitkamp to vote
She’s a worry since she’s a fan of the NRA, but we shall see if she even shows up…..
The NRA gave their permission.
Jovie, my C-SPAN2 reporter says it’s still 59-40 & that they are still waiting for Heidi to cast her vote.
President Obama told the Dems ” Don’t believe everything you read on Huffington Post ” ( about Larry Summers )
GIGANTIC HEADLINE !!!!!
” OBAMA BACKS HIS BOY ” Defends Summers in closed door meeting “ATTACKS HUFFPOST !!!!!!
giggle
I really hate that website. The gigantic misleading headlines is something out of a gossip site like NY Post and Daily Mail.
Cloture vote still open on floor but Heitkamp hasn’t been around all week. ARGH.
I wonder who else they could turn if Heitkamp doesn’t show????
I’m surprised that Harry would bring it to a vote w/o the necessary votes in place beforehand.
Dems got Murkowski to switch her vote from No to Aye.
Whew! Okay that is good!
This one is a nailbiter, for sure.
John Lewis is speaking on c-span 3
Hard to listen to McConnell at the commemoration. I’d rather hear from:
C-SPAN2 says Heidi is on her way from North Dakota and is going to cast her Yes vote when she arrives on the Hill.
WOOT! WOOT! WOOT!
Take your time, Heidi, just so you vote Aye!
Can they hold the vote open for that long? Why the eff did Reid call the vote if she wasn’t in DC? God!
wait….didn’t she know there’d be that vote today? Maybe she was delayed by Bison roaming the highway as she sped to the airport. Srsly, they have Bison roaming the street in the part of No. Dakota my #1 lives.
Capital B on the Bison as a shout out to Howard University. HHHHHUUUUU, yoooouuuu know!
Huffington Poop headline very offensive. Maybe I’m over sensitive, but I think the word “boy” in the same sentence as PBO is a barely veiled dog whistle.
I thought the exact same thing. There are no “mistakes” in those headlines.
Agreed!
Flame away, guys, but I don’t like Lawrence Summers’ past positions and I hope PBO doesn’t squander political capital on this guy. He’s DLC through and through and was a huge proponent of the deregulation that brought this country down in 2008. How much money would the tax payers save if we didn’t have to pay to shuttle them back and forth home just for a vote. Committee meetings and floor arguments can even be done virtually
Because they’d never show up for work. Of course they show up and don’t work anyway, so what’s the point?
Reid shouldn’t have called this vote if she wasn’t present, but I guess they can keep the vote open?
Exactly – why on earth couldn’t she be in DC – this is a Wednesday – middle of the working week – she is paid to be in DC
That is in the constitution……Senators and House members must be present to cast their votes. It was done so…..way back then so US Congress are not stuck in their home states………
Well that makes sense, I’d imagine they couldn’t use the old excuse, My carriage had a flat……er, uh horse.

Love your views on life Cookemom – bet those grandbabies love you more – I’m sure North Dakota will be enlightened by your views of America 🙂 🙂
Less than a month after being acquitted of second-degree murder charges related to his killing of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman was reportedly caught speeding Wednesday, with a gun in the glove compartment of his vehicle. Just looking around, in a hurry to go nowhere?
Probably late for a RWNJ NRA speaking engagement. The gun was a prop to re-enact the shooting to the wild applause by his audience.
He will keep tempting fate and it will one day come to bite him in the tush. I’m looking forward to that day, immensely
Dear People of the World on Twitter and Elsewhere,
When “used to introduce a public announcement,” or anything similar, the archaic expression is spelled: “Hear ye, hear ye!”
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Hear me, hear me!
…and to think I thought it was,
yo yo, yo, listen up y’all
That’ll work, and I like your spelling.
In case you think I’m highly intemperate (Ha! I am!), I waited a long time to make my “anonymous” statement!
Carry on, person of the TOD world.
I think it’s good to let people know what puts ya over the edge (no offense to this person, in particular, who tweeted it out!):
That is sad – no wonder you needed to make an anon statement
well, now I get it, this does set one’s teeth on edge.
Good god, the trolls are EVERYWHERE — did you read the DIzzymiss…unreal.
