Thank you for being in agreement with me, anniebella. Meanwhile I do love them from a distance. All while watching this ‘Honey Booboo’ Marathon! Heeee heeee.
I was just polled by Rasmussen. Concerning the VA governors race. (Remember, we kept our Vonage VA number that rings on our TN number. I love it when I get these calls and can pretend I am a VA resident. I know…..it’s not right, but I do it anyway.) 🙂 Lots of questions. The thing that irked me and I wanted to scream into the phone “DemocrATIC” candidate. Every time, she said “Democrate candidate”. Oh well, they won’t like my answers so guess we’re even.
“I know…..it’s not right, but I do it anyway.”
I say “F’em” :).
Also, when the poll taker kept saying Democrat candidate, I would have said, “Well, i’m referring to the DemoCRATIC candidate.” or whatever context the question was in.
Just respond in kind with the correct word :).
I’m doing good today. Not so much the previous days. Still here at rehab but looking to get discharged by mid-August. Got some brain energy today so decided to say what’s up to my favorite blog 🙂 xoxoxo
Emotionally it was an up day. I was out most of the day due to a doctor’s appointment so I didn’t do much physical therapy today. I’m always progressing in therapy but this place is taking a toll on me emotionally.
I can’t even begin to imagine the effect on you emotionally of being in there day in, day out, GB. It might be helping you physically, but it really must wear you out psychologically? I’ve been reading your tweets the last few weeks and that you can summon up the spirit and energy to tweet on through all this tells me you’re one heck of an amazing human being, and most probably indestructible in every sense. Keep us posted every step of the way GB, you’re inspirational.
Couldn’t agree more with Ms Chipps gb. We all look for you every day on the blog – inspirational and amazing is just the tip of what everyone is thinking – and wishing you such a wonderful recovery and more than you can wish for yourself.
Hi from me too, gb. So good to hear from you. We’re all thinking about you and sending all possible positive thoughts. I’m glad you had a good day. I can imagine you’re more than ready to bust out of that place. Mid August will be here soon. Take care.
Been thinking about you a lot, gob, and wishing you well. Rehab can be a depressing place as many of my friends who’ve been there can attest. Are you going to stay with your mom when you leave? I hope you go to a loving place where you will be truly pampered and get to feel good about yourself. We’ll all be counting the days until mid August.
Tweetdeck is good; not as good as it was before Twitter acquired them, unfortunately. I splurged a few weeks ago and bought a copy of Tweetbot for Mac. It’s really quite good.
Now that they have to take votes to slash spending on domestic programs, they don’t have the balls to do it. You have the GOP members who want to bring services to their districts, and you have the barn burners who want to defund everything. Neither of them will vote for the GOP spending bills. And of course the Dems won’t vote for bills predicated on the Ryan budget. Really, read the TPM piece; it lays everything out brilliantly. Their bluff has been called, and not even by Dems, but by their own members. They bluffed themselves out.
Eagles. Tampa Bay Bucs. Oakland Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers.
And today….this video of Riley Cooper….is truly sad…..using racial slur. 68% of the NFL players are African Americans. This guy is asking to be seriously hurt….especially for a Wide Receiver.
He has apologized after this tape was made public today. He is being fined.
This morning my local all-news radio station @knx1070 was interviewing old-time Dodgers (don’t know why, caught only the end of the segment), Steve Garvey, Maury Wills, etc.
Maury said when he started with the Dodgers (having moved up from minor league bb) in 1959, he was paid the minimum MLB salary: $4,000 — according to usinflationcalculator.com, that translates to $32,100 in 2013 dollars. He said the World Series check in 1963 was $10K or $12K ($96K in 2013).
So yeah, let’s talk about income inequality, or how the rich get richer.
I’ve complained before about how Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale were vilified by the press for holding out for $100K in the mid-1960s (less than $1m/year in 2013). I know pro-athletes have a short career and deserve high salaries, but not the megamillions the cry babies these days make.
RT @DW_Grant: Oval Office bookshelf report: @pfeiffer44 says POTUS reading Robert Putnam on income inequality.
“On Thursday, Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-NY), Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Sen. Chris Murhpy (D-CT), and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), plan to introduce the Supreme Court Ethics Act of 2012 that would force the high court to adopt an ethics code much like the one that binds lower court judges. The idea has support from legal scholars, who’ve been urging the court to adopt such a code since last year. More than 125,000 people have signed a petition calling on Chief Justice John Roberts Jr. to apply the Code of Conduct to the court. But Roberts has been pretty adamant that he thinks the justices are perfectly capable of policing themselves without the need for silly codes (codes which most of the sitting justices once had to abide by on a lower court)…”
Watch out Clarence Thomas; some Dems are introducing legislation to force the Supreme Court to adopt an ethics code http://t.co/zmLpEuvSv6
It’s about time! Both Scalia and Thomas have engaged in questionable practices such as attending heavily partisan gatherings of right wing advocacy groups who advocate for issues likely to come before the Court.
As part of my job once, I had to take a photo of a Marine and his wife at his retirement ceremony. Oops – didn’t properly pose the shot, and the wife’s head was in front of a round plaque on the wall, making it look as though she had a halo in the picture. Said to myself Oh no it looks as though she has a halo in the picture. A couple of weeks later, at another event, ran into said Marine and wife, and the wife said to me Loved the photo where it looked as though I had a halo in the picture. (Luckily, she laughed about it!)
Dudette, stop it! You always find these things that have me shaking my head or going off in a trance. Of course I spent the last 10 minutes in a daze going down the pics at the site until I shook my head just now and hurriedly left. You are a bad influence in so many ways..
Oh, and how are you? Haven’t stumbled upon you in a few days! 😀
I am doing well. Things have calmed down on the family scene and we are now going moment to moment. Offspring finishes his final exam for summer school tomorrow, so I suppose I’ll plan a few days out of town for both of us, if I can (since he asked).
I envy you. Sure hope I can carve out at least a long weekend for a trip somewhere fun in Aug or early Sept. I need a chance of scenario badly. For now I have to find brief moments of escape on the interwebs. 🙂
I like the fact you share your moments of escape with us here in TODvillage, and I’ll cross my fingers that you get to carve out some time for yourself. Our going away is not a sure thing, but knowing offspring he’ll be happy that I even considered it – I’m a homebody and he knows it.
Don’t just consider it, DO IT (if you can)! Resist the temptation to stick with the status quo. Go make some special memories with offspring. You’ll be glad you did.
I am tired of his incompetence and fear of the tea baggers. I am also angry about his disrespect to PBO (ignoring POTUS’ calls and all that crap) I have my eye set on his defeat & his district is readily accessible to me so I will be there organizing for his demise
Smart kid, Dudette. I shared the video of her answering questions about the capital of countries/states here recently, along with my hope that her dad really does not follow through on his idea of her getting her own reality show.
Am I the only one counting the days left so that I can enroll in ObamaCare??
Hey “blog tyrants”, may be TOD can have a countdown clock to open enrollment in ObamaCare.
For a number of people this ObamaCare timeline is also a symbol of potential life and death prospects as they get a new lease on life & protection from abusive insurance companies
2 more months (precisely 61 days) b4 I can sign up for my treasured & long-awaited #ObamaCare! Thank U @BarackObama, Dems, Obama-Voters
GCL, I am a senior citizen already covered by medicare. My daughter and two of my nieces, all currently working part time with no health insurance, are looking forward to signing up for Obama Care.

it. And I think Eugene is right. As these bills going forward, what he

get things through, let`s have that in 2014.
I saw that and thought the same thing. Nothing about this man says “jaded”. He’s brilliant & resilient. He’s using every arrow in his quiver to do the things we put him there to do, with or without Congress. I say “Bravo Mr. President, keep on keeping on!!”

Cool! Not many women in the role, muchless AAs. I was looking at the list of past presidents on Wikipedia and was surprised to see that Bette Davis held that role — although the article says she resigned after two months. [Now THAT sounds like Bette! 🙂

Hola amigos.
Programming note: I have a night owl chat ready to go in memory of the great J.J. Cale.
Excellent! Thank you LL.
Oh, bummer.
He passed away this weekend.
I didn’t know. I remember listening to Crazy Mama a million times
Great vid—-loved it!
Here’s another one….
That was fun.
Yes, also one day I shall be standing backstage with the Obama Family.
I believe you will vitaminlover, before they leave the White House, and you will meet everyone including Mrs. Robinson and Bo.
Thank you for being in agreement with me, anniebella. Meanwhile I do love them from a distance. All while watching this ‘Honey Booboo’ Marathon! Heeee heeee.
Isn’t this just beyond pathetic?
Great posts today.

Hi everyone!
I’m good.
You’re good?
GB! How are *you* doing??
I’m doing good today. Not so much the previous days. Still here at rehab but looking to get discharged by mid-August. Got some brain energy today so decided to say what’s up to my favorite blog 🙂 xoxoxo
Is it up and down day to day GB, or are you feeling any steady progress?
Emotionally it was an up day. I was out most of the day due to a doctor’s appointment so I didn’t do much physical therapy today. I’m always progressing in therapy but this place is taking a toll on me emotionally.
I can’t even begin to imagine the effect on you emotionally of being in there day in, day out, GB. It might be helping you physically, but it really must wear you out psychologically? Thanks, Chips. Just know this, this blog and reading/commenting on twitter saves much of my sanity. It really does.
Couldn’t agree more with Ms Chipps gb. We all look for you every day on the blog – inspirational and amazing is just the tip of what everyone is thinking – and wishing you such a wonderful recovery and more than you can wish for yourself.
Thanks!
All the best to you gobrooklyn!
Thank you so much!!
Hi from me too, gb. So good to hear from you. We’re all thinking about you and sending all possible positive thoughts. I’m glad you had a good day. I can imagine you’re more than ready to bust out of that place. Mid August will be here soon. Take care.
Thanks, dotster
Been thinking about you a lot, gob, and wishing you well. Rehab can be a depressing place as many of my friends who’ve been there can attest. Are you going to stay with your mom when you leave? I hope you go to a loving place where you will be truly pampered and get to feel good about yourself. We’ll all be counting the days until mid August.
Staying with mom is the plan.
I was just wondering about you! Thanks for checking in. Hope you are still on the move!
I am. I am. 🙂
Very well, GoB.
Hey GB…..always thrilled to see you at TOD.
Hello.
Hiya Nena!
When you’ve got a President who can z-snap with the best of them, well, that’s just beyond too cool!!! 🙂
I’ve rediscovered Tweetdeck. I may be falling in love with Twitter again.
Tweetdeck is good; not as good as it was before Twitter acquired them, unfortunately. I splurged a few weeks ago and bought a copy of Tweetbot for Mac. It’s really quite good.
Tweetbot, eh? Is there a Windows version?
You may want to check Metrotwit – http://alternativeto.net/software/metrotwit/?platform=windows
If you, or anyone, has an android phone you may want to check this – https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dotsandlines.carbon
Nevermind, I see that it’s an Apple app. Curses.
Blah blah blah
Love it!!!!!
So, I have to break with amk: Chrome is a superior browser to Firefox. I’m sorry.
😯
You can embed Tweetdeck in the browser!!!!
Huh, like I didn’t know that.
(What? I don’t even understand what that means???)
We love you all the same, dear.
Does this mean a change in plans for Lib_Lib tomorrow?
They didn’t even have the Votes for their austerity scheme bill.
They don’t have the votes because moderate-ish Republicans balked at the cuts. Here’s a great piece from TPM: http://editors.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/2013/07/gops_long-predicted_comeuppance_has_arrived.php?ref=fpblg.
Now that they have to take votes to slash spending on domestic programs, they don’t have the balls to do it. Oooh, looks like good reading. Looking forward to it.
Thanks, Meta.
I love Football…..US style. I cheer for 4 teams.
His playing days……..well…..he went racial.
Should be interesting to see Mr. Cooper get his first good hit from one of those “N” players.
This morning my local all-news radio station @knx1070 was interviewing old-time Dodgers (don’t know why, caught only the end of the segment), Steve Garvey, Maury Wills, etc.

Yes!
Let’s see some positive action on this please!

Howdy Fellow TODers! Top of the Evening To Ya!! 🙂
This is neat! Try it!
Had to do a double-take on this one! 🙂
As part of my job once, I had to take a photo of a Marine and his wife at his retirement ceremony. Oops – didn’t properly pose the shot, and the wife’s head was in front of a round plaque on the wall, making it look as though she had a halo in the picture. Tee-hee!! 😀
Should I say? These are great! I see her.
Pretty cool!
A real-life Matchbox car set! 🙂
😀 😀 😀
I’m with ya, VC! I can’t get enough of these, so naturally, I had to share!
I’m okay. Back to being swamped at work again. Feast or famine — good thing I love my job!
How ‘about you?
I am doing well. Things have calmed down on the family scene and we are now going moment to moment. Offspring finishes his final exam for summer school tomorrow, so I suppose I’ll plan a few days out of town for both of us, if I can (since he asked).

Thanks – I’ll try.
As one of the members of OFA, I will be in the trenches campaigning against this worthless excuse of Speaker – you can count on that !
Well done Linda!
I am tired of his incompetence and fear of the tea baggers. I am also angry about his disrespect to PBO (ignoring POTUS’ calls and all that crap) I have my eye set on his defeat & his district is readily accessible to me so I will be there organizing for his demise
It’s CLOBBERIN’ TIME!!! Tossed out on his sorry butt!
You go Ms.global! 🙂
Are you buying it?
That “friend” oughta gettin’ “an adjustment” from the Hulk — like this:
Smart kid, Dudette. I shared the video of her answering questions about the capital of countries/states here recently, along with my hope that her dad really does not follow through on his idea of her getting her own reality show.
Yep, isn’t she adorable? I hope Dad was kidding.
Me too.

I went to @ChrisLHayes and was greeted with Greenwald saying he’s on Chris’ show tonight.
I don’t watch Hayes, but JHC could he give it a rest with that venomous, hateful Greenwald.
Hayes’ ratings need to tank to the point that MSNBC has no choice but to replace him.
MSNBC needs to understand that you don’t have to be a Brooklyn hipster to appeal to young viewers across the country.
I absolutely LOVED Joy Reid on @Lawrence last night. I pulled the transcript, but I think they fudged and didn’t include everything she said.
Here’s a portion:

Excellent questions. Maybe in the next upgrade those concerns will be addressed. Still kinda cool idea.
Yes, I do like the idea itself.

Live coverage from Minneapolis tonight. The same sex marriage law goes into effect August 1st. R. T. Rybak will be performing a wedding tonight at midnight. Celebrations will be going on at city hall tonight.
RT Rybak is a huge supporter of PBO.
was in downtown Minneapolis just yesterday & the LGBT flags were up and swinging gently in the wind.
I was watching Rybak introduce Dayton. The governor may not be the most charismatic guy in the country but I’m very grateful to him. For a while he was the only one standing guard against the right wingers. We would have had a version of the stand your ground law here if the governor had signed it but it was vetoed. I believe that without him we would have gone the way of Wisconsin.
It’s nice that we have something good to celebrate now and such a relief to have a Dem congress and Senate. I heard that the people who worked on marriage equality might take up the cause of increasing the minimum wage now that they have achieved this.
Uh oh…now Marcus Bachmann will HAVE to come out.
As Moon Unit Zappa would have said in the 1980s, “Gag me with a spoon.”
#TrustBarack
Yes We Can
Good one Bob! Thank you!!!
Thank you Dudette 🙂
Great tweet Bobfr! We must Identify 25-30 House seats that can be flipped in 2014 from Tea-publicans to Democrats and concentrate our energy and resources on them. We need Nancy Pelosi back in the Speakership.
I approve!
I can see the right-wing heads explode
In my humble opinion, CBC should stop meddling in President Obama’s appointments! This is simple grandstanding by CBC! CBC never publicly demanded other Presidents to appoint their choices.
So, so, true, Dudette! Thanks for sharing the tweet. It should be shared and re-twitted over and over again.
