This is grouchy so you may want to close your eyes and step over.

Okay, who is home? This is my absolutely one and only chance to look in today, which literally means that I MISSED ALL OF ‘YESTERDAY’ – my first reason for being grumpy-ish!

TODvillage Family: I need someone to tell me that I’m being a bit intolerant and I should bite my lips and press on. My 2nd reason for being grumpy-ish = I’m feeling a little put-upon as immediate family members seem incapable of doing anything, I spent the entire day doing funeral related stuff, while those who should help have done none of their (very simple) assigned parts. To top it all my last three+ hours were spent on my feet cleaning different meats and getting them ready so they can marinate. My lower back and feet are aching. Honestly, I’m ready to become a vegetarian. [ 😉 Well, not exactly. I still love meat, though not the preparation. 😀 ] Question -Where is it written that a death in your immediate family means you cannot do anything, including make decisions? I had to shop, plan the programme for the ceremony with the pastor (neither parent could think of a hymn, a Bible passage, speakers, dad didn’t even attend), encourage teenagers to speak, prod sibling again and again. Finally I did ask sibling for help with the meats and she actually said “I’m not doing that”….twice! Grrrr! I can’t wait for next week!

Very sorry to dump on you, but throwing my bad feeling out there has made me feel lighter in spirit, which means I’ll be better able to cope with tomorrow. I also know most everyone will skip so I don’t feel too, too guilty sharing this burden.

    SO …. /cheerier that when I started/… what was today’s highlight?

VC, don’t apologize for venting. Unfortunately, I know from experience exactly what you are going through, so vent away — since your family is leaning on you, we’ll be your shoulder to lean on!

            Saturday at 1pm.

Now you offer – I could have passed off the meat preparation to you! 😆

Seriously, Alycee, TY; today took me over the hump. Now I just have to make sure the teenagers practise their instruments and wait for Friday evening to start the actual physical meal preps.

              July 24, 2013 at 2:18 am

Meat prep? Long distance??? LOL Truth, I’ve not roasted a turkey since my 94 year old uncle passed away in 2005. He used to clean the bird and I’d roast it. I hard a hard time cleaning boneless, skinless chicken breast. I have the butcher custom trim my roast / steaks so that they are oven ready. I can’t stand handling raw meat.

But seriously, if you need any calls made, program laid-out or proof-read, I truly am available to help. Love you.

In the words of our president ‘I love you back.’ 😛 And, I’m alright for program etc.

Under normal circumstance I buy my meat already trimmed, skinless, etc, too because I hate but the amount this time make that prohibitive.

Morning Theo. What are you doing over there now, checking out the weather? Trying to make sure you treat each coast of the country fairly? I’m almost convinced that in addition to a bad case of the travel bug, your family has shares in the airlines! 😀 It’s good to know that you are keeping an eye on all areas of our great country.

                – Oh dear, I hope that isn’t because I mentioned your family’s possible connection to airline stocks last night? I didn’t mean it. I was sort of dazed from tiredness and lack of sleep. 😉

                ‘Wish us luck… ‘
Goes without saying, T! Seriously, I will be following you in thought and with prayers for a safe, fun experience. Isn’t the weather supposed to be great at this time of year? Plus it sounds like you all are not on a timetable so you can meander and rest as you make your way up (almost said down). Send me a picture, as I can’t imagine when I’ll get over that way.

VC, I’m sorry you’re having a rough time and I’ll bet that few recognize that you’re dealing with grief as well. In times of stress families will often turn to the “strong one” to get things done, not realizing how much burden they’re imposing or how inconsiderate they are. In a way, this is a compliment to you–one you probably don’t need right now. You’ll get through this and next week you can rest in the assurance that you rose to the occasion and did everything you could. Bless you.

{{JackieG}} – Good Morning, JG! I don’t know who handed out the family designations but I sure wish they’d asked me if I wanted to be the strong one. 😉 On the other hand, sometimes my siblings (and mother’s) apathy drive me bonkers. At times like those I do miss my very decisive grandmother. 😉 😀

        • July 24, 2013 at 7:51 am

          Good Morning VC

Hope you are feeling a little better this morning. I understand how you were feeling on yesterday…thinking you are simply helping and then finding yourself shouldering all the responsibility. But you are obviously the sort of person that will not just let things fall by the wayside or see things half done. You would probably worry about what wasn’t getting done. People know that they can depend on you. And while that reliance can be abused, I’m sure that once you have had a chance to recover and reflect, you will feel good that you stepped in to make things go as smoothly as it will for your family.

So if you need to vent, your TOD family is here to “listen”. Hang in there. You can’t stop being you. I will pray for your continued strength and peace of mind, as well as comfort for your family.

Morning, SW, I am feeling way better, thank you! And KNOWING I have this refuge of patient, supporting other family members really, really, helps!

[You have so hit the nail on the head – ‘thinking you are simply helping then finding yourself shouldering all the responsibility’, and yes I would be quietly seething if things were half done, so in a way it is my own fault. 😀 OTH – it boggles the mind that parents can’t even choose a hymn/Bible passage, or ask someone to read a Bible passage, or find and put together a picture collage or two!!! Oh well! ]

Also, my cousins will be coming for the funeral and their side of the family got the ‘do something’ genes, so I know they will step right in as soon as they arrive. 😀

Alycee, I don’t know where this town is, but the mayor is as culpable as this crazed moron for condoning his behavior. This is a man who has gone over the edge and is a danger to the town. It’s up to the people to oust both the mayor and this crazy person. Schuykill County commissioners should intervene if nothing happens. If something truly explosive takes place in this town, the commissioners would share the blame if they do nothing.

I just saw the picture of Rand & the turtle at the White house – It is hard to believe they can show such disrespect to their President. If I was running the show I would have evicted them. Truly disgusting people – without any saving graces – I do not understand how anyone votes for them.

    • July 24, 2013 at 7:57 am

Whether it’s acknowledged or not, putting people like Paul and McConnell in those type of situations not only gives them moments of vexation and uneasiness, but it continues to show that President Obama is the adult in the room. They come across as two pouting children being made to do something they did not want to do.

I’m sure the Cardinals would not have missed them if they had not been in attendance.

      • 62 99ts
        July 24, 2013 at 8:07 am

I have no understanding as to why they would be vexed or uneasy. Do they have a problem being in the same room as black people? They supposedly represent their state – and should be representing EVERY person in that state as the President represents every person in America. I think the women sitting across from them shared my disgust with their attitude.

        • 63 vcprezofan2
          July 24, 2013 at 8:44 am

One answer, I think, is that they lack the maturity (??) to be able to know when to put down the partisan backpack. They are in essence one-trick ponies, which is why they haven’t been able to help to run the country as members of the opposition. The problem IMO is they represent states/areas that are full of people who are also too dumb to entertain more than one mindset.

“New York City mayor vetoes bills to limit stop-and-frisk policy”

New York City Michael Bloomberg on Tuesday vetoed two measures meant to curb the city’s controversial stop-and-frisk policing policy, setting up a likely showdown with the City Council.

Bloomberg called the bills dangerous and irresponsible and said they would make the city less safe.

One measure would create an independent inspector general to monitor the New York City Police Department. The other would expand the definition of racial profiling and allow people who believe they have been profiled to sue police in state court.

“Secretary Ray Kelly? Bad for U.S. Muslims “
The NYPD commissioner would do more harm in Obama’s cabinet

By Rev. Chloe Breyer / NEW YORK DAILY NEWS

With his name circulating as a possible pick to be the new homeland security secretary, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly is again in the national spotlight.

But from a faith perspective, there are blemishes on his record. While NYPD programs including the Hate Crimes Task Force and the Clergy Liaison Program have been good for religious leaders, the department’s decade-long practice of mapping Muslims and targeting houses of worship for special surveillance has equated religiosity with radicalization.

This is a mistake that must not be repeated nationally.

    Thanks so much

Okay, right on cue just as PBO is about to give a major economic speech, CBS comes out with a propaganda poll basically trying to give the impression that 1) People think the economy is in bad shape. 2) People blame Obamacare for the economy in bad shape 3) Most people want all or part of Obamacare Repealed.

The numbers are so inconsistent with recent data on not just the Public’s attitude towards Obamacare, but the economy – that ANYONE who believes this data is either a Republican or extremely gullible.

And Chuck Todd was on the Today Show touting PBO’s “falling poll numbers”, the “lowest of his presidency”, the public’s loss of confidence in him etc. etc. etc. Since the Multiple Scandals thing went poof, it looks like the news media is desperate to find other ways to report negative stuff. It’s so transparent and pathetic.

And Morning Joke was so obnoxious and rude with Jay Carney this a.m., interrupting and yelling at him, belittling him re. the IRS “scandal”. Joke was trying to rev that up again as he sat squinty-eyed in front of a fake patriotic screen from……..Nantucket? It was such a disrespectful display, it was embarrassing and gross.

And they wonder why President Obama prefers to talk to the regional reporters.

Doster3, I wish you could have joined me for a brisk walk in Central Park this morning instead of witnessing that circus.
Can you imagine the amount of venom and vile inside of that body? I wanted to say “human body”. The words just don’t seem to fit.
It is a dangerous thing to be paid to be evil unless that is who you are. It is more dangerous that MJ was not embarrassed or grossed.
How sad to start such a beautiful, glorious day.

Central Park sounds way better than MJ. I went for a walk too—-just in my neighborhood, not as spectacular as Central Park—-but I didn’t get out of here soon enough.

“GOP plan: Assure their already convinced constituents that DC is broken. One problem: THEY broke it.”

House Republicans have assembled a “kit”! Yes, they now have their very own kit! And they want to share it with just the right people…

When House Republicans retreat to their districts for the August recess, they will each be armed with a detailed guide — an exceptionally detailed guide — on how to assure their already convinced constituents that Washington is broken…Yes, once again, even after obstructing every decent piece of legislation that’s come their way, they can’t wait to slam what they themselves did. They have a Plan to bash their very own jobs…

[T]he 31-page GOP packet focuses on safer ground: Obamacare, jobs and the fierce hatred of all things Washington.

Now about that infamous GOP “outreach”: “Potential groups to organize Meetups around include women, Asian-Americans, Hispanic-Americans and millennials,” the kit explains… So they’re going to meet with the very groups they hate, ignore, and legislate against to convince them that they should hate, destroy, and work against DC (and themselves) too…

To get the conversation rolling in the right direction, the playbook suggests planting questions: “Prepare a few questions in advance in case the conversation slowly starts.”…There’s a very good reason they need to do that: Nobody wants to talk to them!

I just know that POB is going to rise, once again over all o their BS today. They know it and they are doing what they are programmed to do and and that is: steal, kill, destroy, lie and more lies……set the stage for hair on fire rants and rage from us. I am so past that as I know everyone here is or should be by now. As our President plays chess with these fuck ups, I just wait for another checkmate. They are so predictable. I will spend my last days doing positive things, thinking positive thoughts while POB is still in office working hard for us.
If we stay focus on voting these fuck ups out of office and never to return again, our children can celebrate with joy that we thought enough to fight for them. I know that everyday we wake up and POB is President, I am thankful.
Fuck their polls! My heart knows this man is working hard for us. He started out that way and he will continue as long as he has breath in his body. That is just who he is. If I don’t know that by now, I am going back to bed and wait for the Rapture.
Excuse me, but I was given another chance to wake up and enjoy THIS DAY knowing that President Barack H. Obama is still in the WH. I intend to enjoy every second, minute of it.

Remember these are the same polls which had Mitt Romney ahead or tied in the election 2012, the same polls which said POTUS base would not turn out for him. The Republicans were so excited about voting, we weren’t, despite all the stumbling blocks put in our way we turn out to vote and re-elected President Obama. Despite what the polls said.
