I bet you those are people who sit around and do nothing expecting the revolution to be televised. They don’t organize. They don’t vote or they vote for fringe parties. And, they don’t even bother to study how the U.S. system of government functions, which explains why they blame everything on President Obama.

      GM TOD,

Please keep in mind that both he and Smiley just do this for attention. Each of them are playing a dangerous game and the sole purpose is to be quoted and called on cable to spew their venom.

Do you know if these two have been called out and shamed in some manner by respected black figures like Col. Powell, Spike Lee etc?

          July 22, 2013 at 11:41 am

No. Other cable personalities have but no one of that stature because the first thing they do is complain that “no one is allowed to critique the President”. Its so far beyond that. Every time one of them opens their mouths its to trash PBO. I called out MTP on Saturday night because I knew exactly why they booked him to be on their show…They were guaranteed a negative quote and he was more than accomodating. This stuff is all a game to the media and they know the likes of West & Smiley are more than willing to be their cohorts.

Rev. Al took on Cornell West and pointed out that West never marches or works with “the people” but merely complains from his “ivory tower”. West and Smiley are race hucksters/conmen who capitalize on black suffering for book sales. They are favorites of the white professional left b/c they provide racial cover (i.e.,” I’m not racist, Tavis agrees with me”). The MSM will give them some attention now to attack PBO from the left. Don’t sweat it, Tavis and West are willing pawns but have little real world impact. Much sound and fury signifying nothing. Huffington has been trying to use them to hurt black support for PBO, no avail, since 2009. Classic Uncle Toms. History will judge them harshly, if they are remembered at all.

Each day that President Obama continues to lead and and move this country forward just makes the 2 buffoons wallow in their misery more and more… which is what they deserve.

me too……I watched William’s parents wedding with my 5 yr. old daughter, William growing up and Diana trying to rear her children as normal as possible, Diana’s marriage drama and subsequent tragic death, and Kate and William’s wedding. It’s not b//c they are royals but b/c having peeks into their lives for so long, William has a special place in my heart and I wish them happiness.

        • 37 LunarSea
          July 22, 2013 at 1:33 pm

This mirrors my experience. I still have the front page cover of the wedding. Have been tempted to throw it out more than once but each time I decide against it. Too bad the marriage turned out to be the tragedy it was.

I liked Diana and William seems very much like her. I like to think he will have the life and love she was denied. She had very noble causes: Aids in the early days, children living in poverty, undetonated bombs in the fields of Cambodia and stock piled nuclear weapons, among others. She shined the light on things few with her power chose to acknowledge. And yes the media tortured her while she tried to make a somewhat normal life for her kids. Well normal as the royal family could be anyway. Hounded her at every turn, nit picking, much like they do PBO. And no, this is not meant to compare them. Totally different in every respect except for their compassion and empathy for those less fortunate. This baby would be her grandchild.

While Greg Sargent and I talk about “sabotage governing” quite a bit, it’s easy to lose sight sometimes of just how sweeping the GOP efforts to impair the federal health care law really are. We’ve never seen anything like this — it is literally without precedent — and for millions of Americans, very little matters more.

So let’s get specific. When we talk about efforts to “sabotage” Obamacare, what are we referring to? Several — by my count, seven — specific efforts.

First, congressional Republicans are actively trying to undermine the federal health care system by refusing to help their own constituents navigate the system.

good afternoon all. Great Pics. I too love the dress worn at the state dinner. Beautiful!

Regarding the royal baby, yes the media are a bunch of idiots and it’s their new shiny object but in context this is a big deal. Imagine if it was our beloved Michelle Obama about to give birth we would be making fun of the media but checking every 2 mins for word and making speculations galore. I’m sure I would even send a gift and we would be warmed by well wishing dignitaries from around the world.

I won’t diminish this day for them just because the media are a bunch off losers.

One only has to look at the way the people took to the streets for the wedding to understand. Not only do they love their royals, but this couple is what they hoped Charles and Diane to be. More loving with each other, that’s for sure.

I am very happy for them, I wish them and the baby many blessings and a lifetime of happiness.

LunarSea, your words are so perfectly stated concerning this matter. Thank you.

One life coming into this world is just as precious as another. We still have enough people on this globe to take joy in the very beautiful act of giving and bring a precious breath of life into the world. I am not getting into the social issues, finances, royalty or any of that; but the point is, it is another child coming to greet humankind and we can also participate by chose in saying welcome.

I concur, if our elegant and beautiful FLOTUS had given us a precious newborn(son) we would close down Twitter for the rest of the day. You get my feelings. However, we know that there are people all over the world who will choose to wait, watch, and hope. And to me that is beautiful. Let love, hope, life, be given a beautiful entrance into a world that surely needs some love, respect, beauty, and hope.

Come on precious sweet breath of life, Greet your world because you surely will have to live in it. Someone watched and waited for me to greet my precious mother, father, sister, and grandparents. That was a BRD.(Big Royal Deal). Believe me, I am a princess!!!HZ

Wassup Oeys!!!! What a great getting up day ’round the ol TOD pond!!! I honestly can’t say that I’ve been in tune to anything political lately and it feels really good. Me and #2 went to the Trayvon Martin rally in Chicago and it was good to see so many people involved and active. Folks left the rally ready and willing to attend the next gathering that shines a spotlight where needed. I hope this momentum hangs on throughout the 2014 voting season and beyond.

I have to say that Tragedy and Cornball have jumped the shark and soon what’s left of their relevancy will be non-existent. The few followers they still have are folks who just like to have something and someone to complain about. Tragedy and Cornball have tapped into their malaise and use it for their own personal gain. Nothing to see here with those two. The biggest thing to have happened to Tragedy was getting his own trending hashtag yesterday. Not to be outdone, Cornball jumps in today because even negative publicity is better than none at all.

One of the major arguments proposed for building our old friend, the Keystone XL pipeline, the death-funnel through the spine of the country that will bring the dirtiest fossil fuel in the history of man all the way down to Texas, and thence to the world, is that it, somehow, will magically lower gas prices in this country and also somehow magically make the people who run oil companies less of the greedy, grasping vulture bastards that we have come to know them to be.
    Uh, maybe not so much.
The true goal of multinational oil companies and Canadian politicians backing the pipeline is to reach export outlets outside the U.S. for tar sands oil and refined fuels, which would drive up the oil’s price.
And that’s always been the Canadian in the woodpile right there. We have to risk, among other things, a slice of the Oglalla Aquifer so a company from the Great White North can sell its ghastly slop to the Chinese. And we have to risk that because the Canadians will be damned if they’re going to risk it.
Political leaders in the Canadian province of British Columbia have officially opposed plans for a major new tar sands oil pipeline from Alberta through their province to the Pacific Coast. Two other similar proposals may meet the same fate, and are certainly years in the future. This Canadian opposition increases the motivation of tar sands investors and developers and to get Keystone XL built as sure access to overseas markets.

    • 67 LunarSea
      July 22, 2013 at 12:23 pm

I’ve been telling people this for years. They are by passing 2 major refineries and many small ones to get it to the south coast for one thing only and that’s for export. But so many have bought onto this meme that it will make our own prices go down despite the fact that drilling in US is at an all time high and our prices just jumped from $3.46 to $3.79 in 1 1/2 weeks.

Proving once again that people believe what fits their preconceived notions regardless of what’s staring them in the face.

      • 68 desertflower
        July 22, 2013 at 12:33 pm

I know it….I call it “willful ignorance”. This pipeline needs to be stopped. There is nothing good to come from this for the US…or the world for that matter. Dirty, nasty, toxic sludge. If it was all that wonderful…Canada would just build the pipeline to the coast…THEY don’t even want to touch this stuff…but they want US to! Just Say No!!

…Republicans have long sought to sell off government assets they claim are prohibitively expensive to private, for-profit enterprises they claim are better equipped to administer them because they will base operations on sound corporate business models. What Detroit is experiencing is the Bain Capital vulture capitalist tactic of taking over a company, leveraging it with debt, declaring bankruptcy, and selling off assets and firing union employees all while turning a profit. Michigan governor Rick Snyder followed Bain’s tactics in appointing his cohort to lead the city, disband the government, and create conditions allowing the emergency manager to declare the city bankrupt to sell off assets allegedly to satisfy creditors. …

It sends a chill down my spine, df. To think how all of this has been orchestrated over the last 15 years by ALEC and the NRA. It wasn’t just enough to get virtually no regulation on gun ownership so they could sell their deadly products. They actually planned way ahead to write legislation that would make the resulting murders (that most likely either wouldn’t have happened or would have been adequately prosecuted) no longer be illegal.

It is brilliant in its demonic effectiveness. So now – why not buy a gun? There will be no laws that can effectively put the brakes on your actions.

I never in a million years fathomed the America we face. What is particularly unfathomable: that the electorate shrugs and lets it happen. Even the most draconian voter suppression laws mean nothing if enough people want to vote. Maybe it’s because history, as it was taught to me, no longer exists. That there is no context, no lessons to be learned from the past. But my gut tells me it’s an institutional laziness and selfishness that has overtaken the country. That’s not the RWNJ’s fault. That’s the fault of everyone else, who choose to watch TV or play on their smartphones rather than vote.

We have often been on this precipice in our history. American ideals have been continually tested. We have never been in danger of falling to communism, but we have often been in danger of falling to fascism and RW extremism. But we’ve never been this close. I never thought I would live to see this.

That is so fucking great! Hurray for them & hurray for Treyvon! His tragic murder has sparked a movement that will bring about much change that is good. That is my hope

This royal newcomer is Princess Diana’s grandchild ~ I have lived for so long in several Commonwealth countries, I feel just fine with a sense of joyful anticipation.. From an astrological perspective, the little ones coming in to incarnation during this period of tremendous planetary upheaval are the true Peacemakers, whose Soul level consciousness is so potent they will make the necessary and long-lasting fundamental changes needed to secure life ongoing. If we who are working hard now for Change, remain centered in Hope and Kindness, we may be able to save something of the planet for them to work with. It will not matter what ‘level of society’ these Souls are born to, they will work as a fully Conscious unit of Humanity. That is my prayer.

TY, LP, very busy with 3 appointments this week, mostly taking buses around town, and that is both time consuming and tiring. This injury and resultant rehab is all so very very slow… Not much more to say. Bye for now! Blessings to all!

Pretend we’re all on a bus with you, screaming out some Obama campaign song or something, at the top of our lungs. That should make at least those trips to and fro go a little faster, dear MightyPamela! Stay mighty!

This is very, very sad news. Loved seeing him act.

Consistently good, authentic. A theater phrase, “You never caught him acting.”

I was truly thinking that, as well. After I wrote “seeing him act,” I thought that it didn’t really ever seem like acting. He was far and above so many others.

It’s rare, to be able to do that. But that’s what the great actors do. And often don’t get the recognition they deserve because of it.

When I was directing I think the note I gave most often was, “I love to see characters think. I hate seeing actors think.”

That, and ‘speak louder’ and ‘pronounce your consonants so the audience can understand you.’

That was like a little piece of poetry you dropped on me, there.

(Plus, in his case, it didn’t hurt that he was sexy about everything he did or said, IMHO. There.I.Said.It. Hope ya heard me consonants, darlin’! Ha! – I shouldn’t joke, I guess, but I somehow think Dennis would not mind.)

Interesting how all these polls r suddenly coming out saying that White people see the verdict differently than Black People ?
Me thinks they are trying to bait the racial divide!
    But why?
Maybe they want us all to start fighting each other so they can cover it?
Maybe it makes it easier to cut programs?
    Who knows?
But they’re doing it for a reason, that’s for sure!

We can’t buy into the media and/or RWNJ spin about this, and even though they may “refuse” to show the diverse crowds at all of the rallies, or anywhere else, we know it’s true and we can get the correct messages out via social media.

As a matter of curiosity and comparison I wouldn’t say no to a spread of GWB photos compiled during HIS presidency. Nothing published – just a site for my personal viewing, you understand? I have absolutely no recollection of there being any remotely interesting pics during his ‘awesome presidency’ when he was ‘famous and powerful’ – not even one! Oh wait, not true, I just remembered ‘mission accomplished’….that’s it!
