UT, I completely mucked up the timing for your news post, soooooo sorry, but live streaming of the OFA event started way earlier than I expected – when it’s over I’ll move your news post to the top so everyone can see all its good stuff!

One thing I have thought of recently when I have seen other posts about the potential Democratic candidates is having John Kerry run again for POTUS. The majority of both sides in the Senate voiced his competence when voting for him for SOS. He learned a lot from his last run and the Swiftboating he got. If he can pull off a peace agreement that could give him a platform. The Dems don’t seem to give former people running another chance whereas the GOP does. Comments?

    • July 22, 2013 at 8:18 pm

Do you really think he’d want to put himself and his wife (who has had some recent health problems) through the wringer again? Doubt it. He seems like a nice guy but I recall the flip flops and taunting that he endured in 2004. Republicans are going to be just as nasty in 2016.

This was a working session similar to what took place on the Sunday before the Inauguration. They have OFA volunteers and team leaders from all over the country. I took off from work today to attend and woke up with a “stomach issue” that didn’t get any better as the day progressed. My OFA Field Leader is there and she is texting me updates to make me feel like I’m there. 😦

Word to my fellow blog tyrants: I’ve just finished a 5,000 word essay on why the Royal Baby is the biggest most awesome news ever. I hope you all don’t mind me interrupting PBO’s little speech!

(Actually, I’ve just finished writing a villanelle, of which I’m mighty proud.)

Next up from the whirling dervishes….http://mediamatters.org/blog/2013/07/22/fox-hypes-baseless-attack-on-food-stamps/194996

Fox News continued its smear campaign against the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), previously known as food stamps, by hyping an evidence-free claim that recipients are using the program to send food overseas.

A July 21 New York Post story claimed that low-income New Yorkers were using SNAP funds to purchase food to send overseas. The Post based its claims on anecdotes from unnamed sources at two New York supermarkets that “confirmed the practice,” but failed to include specifics. The anonymous woman that the Post provided as its sole example of the practice was not a SNAP beneficiary:

To send food overseas? People are hungry right here in the USA. Why would the poor send food overseas? And how exactly could poor people afford to do so?

These intimate venues that President Obama speak are bittersweet for me in that I love hearing him talk about the vision he sees for this great nation, but then he says things like “this is my last campaign.” I already miss him, I can’t help but think about 2016 and who will we elect as the next President.

That 1200 days hit me in the gut also. (gut is already showing out), but I am reminded that we did not get to this moment to hear our brilliant President say those words without working hard so he could remind us how far we’ve come to how much longer we will have to keep moving FORWARD.

It is painful to watch the opposition do “Nothing and say Never”, but we are going to stay focused and finish our journey with this beautiful and wonderful soul, our president. Then on Jan.20,2017, we will have house parties, private parties, all over this country and give POB and FLOTUS a beautiful send off. That will help us remove some of the depressing moments.

Let us start planning now to enjoy that day. We have 1200 days to get our outfits ready, the music in order, the refreshments in order, the friends and family in order, and the wine glasses in order. Let’s make this the best and most beautiful send off Ever in the history of our nation. Think about it. HZ

Washington (CNN) — U.S. intelligence now believes Edward Snowden did not gain access to the “crown jewels” of National Security Agency programs that secretly intercept and monitor conversations around the world, CNN has learned.
The Obama administration is reviewing what the admitted leaker of classified information actually got his hands on and what damage he may have caused. The ongoing damage assessment indicates he did not gain access to what is called ECI or “extremely compartmentalized information,” according to a U.S. official familiar with the review.
