Missus will hopefully be working soon. Then we’ll see if we can match our OFA giving with what we did for 2012.

The details of the tentative agreement remain unknown but Abbas may have accepted an American assurance, not an Israeli one, that the talks be based on the 1967 borders. In exchange, Netanyahu may have agreed on a staged release of Palestinian prisoners. After Kerry made the announcement in Amman on Friday, a senior State Department official suggested that both sides had compromised.

“I’ll also give credit to President Abbas and Prime Minister Netanyahu,” the official said. “They haven’t made decisions like these before.”

The announcement is a boost for Kerry. For months, commentators have ridiculed his efforts as hopeless. The initial agreement shows that after a decade of disastrous American military interventions in the region American diplomacy can be an effective tool in the Middle East.

The more I see what type of narrow-minded, biased, agenda-driven people were involved in prior Administrations, the more I am surprised that the nation is still standing. Some of these people were so misguided, and they are still so blinded to think the President should follow them down their misguided paths. I just hope the future president has some of the same wisdom as President Obama, because these deranged, dangerous people are still lurking in corridors, waiting to be called to service.

A few months ago, Eric Cantor was ready to bring his latest brainchild, the “Helping Sick Americans Now” bill, to the House floor. The move was pure Cantor—a smarmy, ultrapartisan ploy. The bill proposed to eliminate funds the Obama administration needs to set up and run the health-care exchanges that are the central mechanism in the health-care law, but then Cantor’s bill would use those funds to help a handful of sick people get health insurance. There was no chance this, or anything like it, would be signed into law, as Obama obviously would not agree to tear down a program to insure millions of Americans in return for insuring a tiny fraction of that number. It was a message vote whose purpose was “embarrassing Obamacare,” as one conservative activist gloated, by forcing Obama to deny immediate aide for the uninsured. As a soulless exercise in disingenuous spin, it was well conceived………It failed….

In a clear sign of boiling rank-and-file frustration, Corker reportedly cried “bullshit” loudly while McConnell was discussing the issue of nominations and Democrats’ nuclear option threat during a closed-door GOP meeting on Wednesday. He later declined to apologize for it and said he’s “glad that that occurred.”

The obvious reason why TOD has so many hits – it is the only blog on the intertubes that truthfully reports on the President, his administration and of course, his wonderful family. Chips is the most amazing person to have started such a blog & those who now post as well as all who comment have created the most wonderful insight into the 44th President and all that he is and all that he has achieved.

UT’s almost unbelievable coverage of the Texas abortion filibuster and its aftermath was worthy of a Pulitzer – and I will not be surprised when the writers for TOD are entered for such awards.

Thankyou all for a wonderful place to hang out

was watching this documentary called Hot Coffee. It’s about that woman who spilled coffee on herself and sued McDonalds and to say the least it was VERY mind opening and showed how the media sensationalized and misinformed people on what really happened. It also covered a range of other incidents such as that woman from Haliburton who was gang raped and then later tried to sue but was blocked because of our disgusting judicial system claimed that she ‘consented.’ I have to say that I trust our system less and less and feel it actually rarely works if ever.

Anyway the documentary did show a little PBO speaking out against Tort Reform and Bush endlessly pushing for more and more tort reform. Al Franken was in it as he was able to get a little bit of justice for that woman who was gang raped.

Sorry for posting so much but it was pretty depressing and felt to get some stuff off my chest.

I am so sorry our senior pastor isn’t alive to know what Bob Corker did. since Pastor Steve had asked Corker numerous times to be a statesman and “do the right thing” for the country but, of course, Corker hadn’t done anything but obstruct with the rest of the evil gang. Sure Steve would at least have been pleased with this action.

***UPDATE: Talked to husband around 10:00–briefly. He sounds great. X-rays show nothng broken; dr. doesn’t think it’s even dislocated. Dave thinks he pulled something real bad. The two northbound hikers who arrived (about an hour after he fell) were women and one of them is an EMT instructor!!! They examined him thoroughly; stabilized his arm; used his trekking poles to make like a gourney and used that to carry his backpack for almost 3 miles! Rescuers got to him shortly after 5:30. It was 9:30 when they got to this small hospital in Greenville, ME.
Anxious to talk with him more. I am totally exhausted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Was this posted here for all our science/earth/knowledge lovers???A trailer for astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson’s new documentary series COSMOS : A Spacetime Odyssey was unveiled at San Diego’s Comic-Con on Saturday.

Like its 30-year-old predecessor, which featured astronomer Carl Sagan, the new COSMOS will explore the universe from the smallest microbe to the biggest galaxies.

The reboot is being produced by Seth MacFarlane, creator of Family Guy, and Ann Druyan, who produced the original series. Brannon Braga, the executive producer of Star Trek: The Next Generation, is the primary director.

“There’s never been a more important time for COSMOS to re-emerge than right now. I want to make this so entertaining, and so flashy, and so exciting that people who have no interest in science will watch just because it’s a spectacle,” MacFarlane said in a news release.

The 13-part series will be debuting in 2014 on FOX and National Geographic Channel.

    http://www.blogforarizona.com/blog/2013/06/research-data-proves-the-supreme-court-is-wrong.html

This reporting by Morgan Kousser at Reuters blows away the disingenuous sophistry of Chief Justice John Roberts in Shelby County v. Holder (and echoed by every pundit in the conservative media entertainment complex right-wing noise machine). Gutting the landmark civil rights legislation:

The Supreme Court’s Shelby County v. Holder decision on Tuesday essentially cast aside the key component of the nation’s most important civil rights legislation.

The five “conservative” justices castigated Congress for putting too much emphasis on history by failing to update the “coverage formula” in Section 4 of the landmark Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Section 4 specifies which states and local jurisdictions must “pre-clear” with the Justice Department or the Washington district court all changes in election laws – anything from adding voter ID regulations to redistricting. Areas now subject to this federal oversight have had a substantial history of voter discrimination.

Chief Justice John Roberts, in writing for the 5-4 majority, conceded that the Voting Rights Act is largely responsible for a decline in blatant voting racial discrimination efforts. Yet he declared the federal oversight program “unconstitutional” on the grounds that it did not reflect “current conditions.” Instead, he invited this most dysfunctional of Congresses to “draft another formula.”

But the chief justice is wrong.

Congress did not update the formula because it knows it still works. The comprehensive database that I assembled proves this. Consider, from 1957 through 2006, almost 94 percent of all voting rights minority lawsuits, legal objections and out-of-court settlements occurred in jurisdictions now subject to federal oversight under the Section 4 formula.

Go to link to see the “stunning” results. OMG.
