Time 6:50 in the video is what we need to focus on. We need to let young AA males know they are valued and have a place in our country.
To that I scream HERE HERE. To the haters like Cornel West that has criticized our President in regards to this tragedy, what exactly is he doing to help the young men in our AA communities? He calls them brothers, and talks the talk, but he is in his own ivory tower, he has long since pulled his hand away from the ladder to help the AA youth. His poison makes me sick. Can’t wait till the full video is up.

Am just listening to what he has to say. I think all of us who care have had very heavy hearts and not sure where to go other than making sure we vote.. This President is amazing. I feel so fortunate to have the honor of being alive during his time in the White House. So much to absorb from this speech. Once again thank you all for coming to this place that Chips built. We are all apart of this and we are going to be an important part of this.

Another very remarkable moment by President Obama. He is always so impressive in the way he is able to talk in a comprehensive way about complicated, difficult and heart weary issues. He addresses all concerns, does not shy away from mentioning all aspects of this case. As the panelists on Tamron’s show expressed, President Obama is unique in that he is able to talk from both sides. But in the way he personalized the concerns of the AA community, relating his own experiences, is of supreme importance, imho. I have run out of superlative adjectives for this man. There will never be another with his depth of talent.

How outraged should I be about this?

“Reid, who has called himself “pro-life,” said Sunday that he was open to allowing a Senate vote on the [ban on abortions after 20 weeks recently passed by the House], though he added that it should not be the chamber’s primary focus.

“I think we should deal with the problems that affect this country,” Reid said during an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “We need to do something to help the American working class and stop worrying about fringe issues.”

Is it possible the Democratic Majority Leader of the Senate is uninformed on the issues of abortion after 20 weeks (which are extremely rare): the health of the mother and the heartbreaking decision about a severely deformed child that someone wanted? He wants the government to interfere and micromanage personal health issues?

    • 66 jacquelineoboomer
      July 19, 2013 at 3:58 pm

Or he wants to get re-elected, next time, so he’s paying lip service. I’m hoping he’ll be the “same old Harry,” going forth, and ignore the “fringe issues” he mentioned.

And I liked what President Obama said about a “national conversation”. I am tired of that response. It is weak and empty, an escape response. And I agree with President Obama that whenever some politician talks about a need for a national conversation, there is never a national conversation. It ends up being meaningless. Instead Obama talked about the need for individuals to search themselves, to talk within families, to make sure we are all wringing out all our biases.

Howdy O’s!!! What a GREAT getting up day in TODville!!!!!! PBO is firmly ensconced in the WH, the election is valid, and we’ve just witnessed the iron fist in the velvet glove. The steely resolve of the Black (yes I said Black) President of these United States as only a Black President can feel.

The dialogue has begun and this gives the nutties yet another topic to show their true colors (pun intended).

Randi is becoming a bullshitter, Cos. She carried on about Snowden and thought he did good. I couldn’t believe this is the same Randi I followed for years, since the Bush years. I didn’t hear what she said today- she’s busy now playing the tape of “the pig’s (Trayvon’s killer) cousin’s telling of him sexually abusing her. If she indeed said people were disappointed in PBO, she apparently is trying to speak for black people, and she cannot do that. As savvy as she is, she cannot know who I am. As far as I am concerned she has bit the dust. Grown stale and moldy. So sad for her. And now I am turning her off.

        July 19, 2013 at 3:52 pm

The left media continues to expose their dirty slips. It feels to me as though they play a game of “whose turn is it to be disappointed in something Obama did or said today?” Everything is about them and no one else.

Rhodes is being disingenuous and selfish – this speech was not intended for the left or right media – it was intended for the American people of every background, Black America – and especially the young Black men in our society.

Let the left media continue to worm its way into obscurity, while we let our President lead us forward.

The United States is lucky to have elected a President who is smart, compassionate, courageous, and who fully understands history.
