Wait a minute – what’s this ‘En respuesta a tu comentario’ that I’m now seeing in the WordP notifications box. WP has gone bilingual now? The entire box is now in Spanish. Right now I’m writing in the ‘Responder al comentario’ section. Is there a memo I didn’t get AGAIN?

forus50 had an important question that needs some input from the family….I have no idea, but SOMEONE must have an idea:)

    From the last thread:

So I need some advice on a matter than I can’t get off my mind. This past Saturday night about 7pm I was having dinner at a restaurant along the Chicago River. One of my friends owns it so with a bunch of guests in town he got me a table for 6 outside which means it was right next to where the boats (big boats/small yachts) pull up to dock. When the people on the boats are disembarking they were doing a quick two foot jump down behind where I was sitting to get into the restaurant. So maybe about 10 people did it while I was sitting there and they were all apologizing for getting a bit too close to my chair where we were sitting but it was really no big deal.

So towards the end of dinner, out of the corner of my eye I saw another person starting to get off a boat that had just docked. A male voice said, “Excuse me” and I quickly said “No excuse for ya!” in a humorous way (so I thought). As he walked by me he said in a low voice, “I needed to do that and what you said was really rude.”. I quickly turned around and then saw it was a young black guy and he was turning back looking at me angrily while he was walking away. I called out, “I was just kidding!” but I am sure he thought I wasn’t. I told my friends what had just happened as they had been busy talking and didn’t hear the first part of the exchange. I thought about it a bit more as we paid the bill and felt HORRIBLE and decided to try to find him in the restaurant to explain my poor sense of humor. But I couldn’t find him and it was weighing on my mind all night. When I got home about 9pm the verdict came in.

Needless to say, I now feel even more horrible about him thinking that I meant it personally to him. I’ve no idea on how to contact him or who he is. Does anyone know of a public forum that I might be able to post something on? I’m just sick over it.

    • 29 desertflower
      July 15, 2013 at 11:06 pm

Well, actually I do have a question. Would you recognize the boat/yacht he got off? You could find that boat and maybe they would know the person you’re talking about if you tell them the night and date…

Take out an ad in the paper…may not see it, but you’d feel better:)

    • 30 theo67
      July 15, 2013 at 11:09 pm

I don’t think you can find him or “fix” it. I think he felt vindicated by telling you what he thought, and he’s moved on. I know that I always feel better when I confront what I see as an injustice, and I quickly move on when I’ve said my piece. I would suggest that you move on, too. The timing was unfortunate, but it sounds like you meant no disrespect. For a chance encounter, you each brought your past experiences to bear to interpret a moment, and that’s it. Leave it there. There are 300 million people in this country – you won’t find him. Your regrets are out in the universe, as it is, so he’ll get the message somehow.

    • 33 99ts
      July 15, 2013 at 11:17 pm

It doesn’t read as “rude” to me – something I would say in jest. Recent events are perhaps weighing on forus50 and the “young black guy”, who was perhaps thinking of other things – and I would hazard a guess that while forus50 is still upset the man in question has forgotten that it ever happened. I often anguish about things that are long gone & forgotten by others.

        Theo67: Amen to that response.

Forus50: “After you have done all you can. You just stand.” I was listening to this song and thought of you. The fact that he said anything at all, would lead me to believe that he forgave you and did not internalize what you said or meant to say.
What a confident guy! He has moved on and so should you as theo67 suggested.
Who knows maybe, just maybe he or one of his friends or friend’s Mom is a “lurker”.
I am learning when your heart and intentions are good, it comes back to you one way or another.

        • 35 HZ
          July 16, 2013 at 12:56 am

Forus50, you both shared a space for a moment. Your intentions were in a good place, and it sounds like he said his words for those moments. His choice of word(s) were not yours spoken, so take the moment and make it a’ thoughtful grace timing’ that passed each other in life’s space of ‘thoughts to reflect upon.’

I have a lot of pennies, as most of us may have at home, and this is one thing that I do in situation similar to what happened to you. I also have a lovely container as I enter my library/music room. When I have those ‘pennies for your thoughts, or what I have since called my’ ‘moments to re-adjust to my space in the world’, I stop and go to the container and take out a penny and speak my peace in a word or two and place the penny in my “Thoughts of Grace-Connection” box and I leave the room. Often when I have a heavy heart, I go to the container of placed pennies and try to recall how I feel after time has passed from the incidents or ‘moments of pennies for my thoughts.’ I put the value of a penny on these thoughts because pennies are so often passed over, and we just throw them to a lonely place without a sense of their worth any more.

So I started to make them a very special source in my thought movements and useful gracious thought bank. I feel that I am very blessed and rich everytime I look into that beautiful container and recall some of my ‘Thoughts of Grace-Connections.’ Be joyful. He heard and felt the tone of your words just like you heard and felt his. Now, release any other feelings except the lovely ones that you have expressed here with us. Say them and place that penny in your “Thoughts of Grace-Connections.’ Speak power of goodness to your words for the young man. The universe will receive it as part of your gentle goodness. It will meet up with him on his journey. Speak into your space.
          () Love you. HZ

Sometimes it helps to just read about someone else making a similar “mistake”:

As one of the kids in the video about the Cheerio’s commercial said: “I thought that Martin Luther King fixed this”. Unfortunately, no. He was a hero, but he was not Superman. White people will continue to make these errors for a long time to come, even if they don’t want to.

[ And let’s just forget, for the moment, about those who don’t *want* to be better ]

A tweet from The Nation put it perfectly:

White supremacy: the idea that some black men must be killed with impunity to keep society at large safe. http://t.co/t6eK1WzL3D

    — The Nation (@thenation) July 14, 2013

America’s problem has never been racism. It’s always been white supremacy. Calling it racism not only lets white supremacy off the hook–it makes it much harder to accurately see. The tweet above cuts through all that in response to the acquittal of George Zimmerman. What’s stayed the same about white supremacy is white supremacy. What’s changed is the discourse around race. But an innocent black teenager is still dead. And his murderer was still just acquitted, and given back his murder weapon to use again.

Even though the president himself is black, the fundamental logic of white supremacy is still in place, and very few of us have any coherent way to make sense of how this can be so–much less how it relates to the gutting of the Voting Rights Act. But there is a way to make sense of it all, which I’d like to share in this diary.

Beautiful song, but I cringe whenever I hear it cuz it brings back nightmares from organ lessons. Had this evil woman for a music teacher. She couldn’t stand me and I couldn’t stand her. My parents thought I was just trying to get out of learning the instrument, but it was the witch woman I wanted to get away from. She made be play this freakin’ song until my hands practically fell off. I liked it until I met her. Ugh!

Both! Only thing she didn’t have in common with the wicked with of the west was a pointy hat — and I’m not sure that wasn’t in her closet at home. Amazes me why people who hate people take jobs where they have to interact with people. Don’t answer that I know… money. Still though… SMH.

Sorry to bring back the nightmares. Definitely had the opposite intent.

Can relate to the music lessons and being in tears after some of my sessions. However I did come to appreciate the discipline that teacher tried to instill. Of course the appreciation came long after the lessons ended.

It’s okay swbg. No way you’d know. It really is beautifu music. And my problem with her had nothing to do with lack of discipline. I liked playing (I was a bit older and more disciplined during my organ-playing days than when I studied violin). She was just a fowl, hateful soul. Didn’t scare me, just couldn’t stand her. I think I recall there was nothing alive in her house or in her yard. That was a miserable time. I was more glad when we moved away, because it meant I wouldn’t have to enter her cloud of evil anymore. Mean old biddie!

It was well-documented that Nicole Brown Simpson was a victim of domestic violence. In Zimmerman’s case, two pieces of character evidence never made it to the trial. First, a recorded statement from Witness No. 9, Zimmerman’s female cousin, in which she said that he molested her for ten years when they were both children, beginning when she just 6 years old. Second, a report filed in August 2005, when Zimmerman’s former fiancé sought a restraining order against him because of domestic violence.

The latter accusation is especially important because it provided the blueprint for Zimmerman’s own claim of self-defense again Trayvon Martin. According to the Miama Herald, Zimmerman

was also involved in a domestic dispute with his ex-fiancée, hair salon employee Veronica Zauzo. Zauzo claimed Zimmerman was trolling her neighborhood to check on her. At her apartment, they spoke for about an hour when she asked him to leave. He asked for some photos and paperwork and she refused. A pushing match ensued and her dog jumped up and bit him on the cheek, Zauzo claimed. Zimmerman, in a petition filed the next day, painted her as the aggressor, wanting him to stay the night.

This arrogant, smug SOB may still yet see the inside of a jail cell.

Following Zimmerman Verdict, Miami Heat Leave Florida Citing Safety Concerns –

MIAMI – A slew of professional sports teams – including the Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars have announced they are leaving Florida following the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the death of Trayvon Martin.

The teams released a joint statement saying that “the state of Florida has become too dangerous for young black men to live in, and as the majority of our players fit this demographic, we’ve decided we’ll soon be moving to pastures new.” The statement went on to say that if one of their starters were shot dead and the person who shot him was found not guilty – as was the case with Zimmerman – “it would lead to a competitive advantage for other teams whose starting players had not been shot dead, leading to failed prosecutions.”

      I love you Stevie Wonder.
He is not blind at all. He is sightless. He sees more than some of us with eyes.
      What a beautiful soul!
Is there any wonder his music played an important part in the lives of our POTUS and FLOTUS?
This was a setup for us all to be blessed…….thank you, God for thinking about us in times such as this.

Cornel West, we are really sick and tired of you and your sidekick…….what ‘s his name?
Just get on your bus and ride to Russia. Snowden needs a ride to somethefuckwhere, okay?
We have three more glorious years to enjoy this intelligent, humble, man as our President. You probably voted for yourself in the last election because you are soooo intelligent.
Did you pose your stupid questions while riding your stupid bus to GWB, BC and GWB, Jr.?

Please stop hating PBO because he showed you up on what intelligence really looks like. We do not want to read or understand your dumb ass books. Who the hell can sit in a classroom while you teach that fraudulent bullshit. Tell what’s his name, he can get married now.

Fortunately, I never held them in any high regard. They seek to destroy, while building themselves up. If they were genuine, they would have worked themselves to the bone to help President Obama during his two terms. Eight years is not a long time. And they’ve wasted it, and wasted precious energy that could have been used moving the country forward.

TY, Chips, my dear special loving one. I always will appreciate all that you do for us. TY, UT for this beautiful evening. TY, Dudette and all of the beautiful musical contributors for the evening. So refreshing for our spirits and our space.

We are going to get through all of this. TY Bobfr. TY., LL. Hope Mrs. LL and sis are all doing fine.

        TY, TOD family.

TY, for the Yolanda Adams selections. Look carefully at the very beginning of the song and watch what POB does. Then watch carefully how our beautiful and brilliant Dr. Susan Rice responds to his action. Very moving. We have the best of the best. Those who know him personally will tell all of us what we see is who President Barack Obama is. Our First Lady has already told us many times.

Pray for them, TOD family, lift them up in your quiet moments, and your meditation times. Just speak your loving and kind words for our president. He needs all of our beautiful spirits to surround him and his Administration with our prayers, loving thoughts, and pray for wisdom and grace to be granted to him each day.

Good Nite my beautiful Chips and my beautiful TOD family. Music every night is so lovely to share here with my TOD family. We all have our own personal libraries in our home, but it is so wonderful when we have these nights to share our music times together. TY All so much. I love this beautiful place, our loving support system for our beloved POTUS and his Administration.

I’m not sure if this tweet would show up with all the replies – so I’ve just copied it – I believe this is the agent who was working on the B37 juror book

    sharlene martin ‏@sharlenemartin
After careful consideration of the book project with Zimmerman #JurorB37, I have decided to rescind my offer of representation.

Apparently a petition was very useful
    Cocky McSwagsalot ‏@MoreAndAgain 2h
@SharisseTSmith If this has taught me anything, it’s to not underestimate what we can do.

And then we have the statement from the juror – seems like she woke up to the real world.

There are a number of tweets asserting that juror B37 may in fact be the wife of Mark Nejame CNN analyst. The uncovering of this may be the reason for this statement.

Hi Bill – I have no idea how this ended up in a reply to your bell chant – my apologies – I sure haven’t read anything about who she may be – but I have little doubt that one of those media folks who so value their privacy will find it out.

Freudian Slip? The jury had to be sequestered to PROTEST our verdict?!

      • 124 99ts
        July 16, 2013 at 7:51 am

Indeed – I didn’t notice that – it was via a photo from the non-agent – perhaps a picture of an email

Even if she used the word “protect” it still doesn’t make sense – the lawyer sure didn’t marry her for her brains

Well, maybe she shouldn’t have called a peaceful protest a ‘riot’ and paraded her white privilege as her God given right to put a dangerous asshole back on the street and not have to pay any consequences for a dead kid.

As Norman Goldman said on the radio last night – O’Mara painted a picture of reasonable doubt standard that no one could overcome. Except all the juries all around this ‘free’ nation that throw black kids into prison with a whole lot less evidence than that of the Trayvon Martin case every single day.

The 24 states that have passed at least some form of the “stand your ground law”.

Many states have some form of Stand Your Ground law. Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming have adopted Castle Doctrine statutes, and other states (Iowa, Virginia, and Washington) have considered “Stand Your Ground” laws of their own.

Sigh!!! We have our work cutout for us…
