Night Owl Chat – More Musical Flash Mobs

It is, quite clear, that the past 48 hours have been hell. We’ve been put through the wringer. We’ve had our hearts torn out and trampled upon.

But that’s the thing about being human. Tragedies occur and you don’t see a way out. But there always is. Beauty endures. Light endures.

So, a night owl chat for those who endure.

Tchaikovsky – Waltz of the Flowers

Ravel – Bolero

Pachelbel – Canon in D

“Do the Locomotion”

“Do Re Mi” from “The Sound of Music”

One I posted before, but it’s the perfect ending: Beethoven – “Ode to Joy”

Darkness only wins when we stop searching for the light.

This is your uplift night owl chat.

Can’t believe that Rachel Jeantel is on Piers Morgan. I thought she would have wanted to stay away from the limelight forever more.

I love it when they take the performing arts to the people – a different view to being at the concert. This is the part of town where PBO & other leaders will be for the meetings (G20 I think) in 2014. Us mere mortals will not be allowed anywhere near!

The take it to the people aspect is what I really love about good flash mobs. I’m one of those you wouldn’t catch willingly going to the symphony.

I like both – but the concerts are now usually outside my price range – weird – when I was young we had little money yet I well remember going to the ballet and at times symphony concerts – different times I guess.

Despite my shock that someone could kill an unarmed teenager and be found not guilty, I believed that the jurors a bad Florida law.

You know I’m a lifelong Californian, so wouldn’t presume anything about Florida, but after today, it’s clear that no one in that courtroom did their job.

Please DOJ, we need a 21st Century Atticus Finch now.

O’Mara, right, the one who said on the previous thread that Zimmerman was the only one hurt.

Such a give away — Trayvon wasn’t worth even 3/5th of person to these despicable players in that Florida courtroom.

Anderson Cooper said she said they would not personally profit from the book—–no one said where any proceeds would go though. Maybe the George Zimmerman fund.

      • July 15, 2013 at 9:41 pm

I hope the Martin family sues her for slander, because it sounds like she plans to repeat a lot of the nonsense we heard from the Defense attorneys who worked to demonize a teenage boy so their murdering client could get off scott-free. If she prints one word of that filth, they need to sue.

df – I watched the jury selection – they ALL wanted on – the lies told about not knowing what was happening! Every black person from the jury pool told the truth – they knew about the case, they knew GZ killed Trayvon Martin – they were thus not included in the final selection

Jurors should NEVER vote on “what they think” until the have examined the evidence. That jury needed 1 angry man. Each person probably based their opinion on a piece of evidence that others may have missed – but no doubt B37 had decided and was not to be challenged. Very sad. All that time spent convincing others that GZ was the victim – when I foolishly thought they were looking at the evidence.

I’m late on this, but I wanted to comment on the controversial commercial. I saw that several times and never noticed that it was a mixed marriage. The child completely captivated me. It was only after it was pointed out here that I watched again and saw that it was so. Then I noticed that the parents were also captivating, each on their own merit. Had to be to produce such an adorable child.

    • 47 Anna Luc
      July 15, 2013 at 10:17 pm

It is great to let Senators Reid, Levin and Boxer know that we support them. I think we should also let the senators who voted no in the past or did not vote know that we want this change. When the rule change was initially proposed in 11/2012 the following senators voted “no” or did not vote, which denied Reid a majority:

The package failed in a 44-51 vote, with Democratic Sens. Jim Webb (Va.), Max Baucus (Mont.), Herb Kohl (Wis.), Mark Pryor (Ark.), Jack Reed (R.I.) and Reid voting no. Democratic Sens. Dianne Feinstein (Calif.), John Kerry (Mass.) and Daniel Inouye (Hawaii) did not vote. (http://thehill.com/homenews/senate/267471-dems-short-on-votes-for-filibuster-reform) Of course Kerry and Inouye have been replaced, but the rest are still there.

      • 48 Anna Luc
        July 15, 2013 at 10:36 pm

Ooops! That vote was 2 .5 years ago and Webb has been replaced by Kaine. So with Kaine, Markey, the new guy from Hawaii – that’s three votes. Feinstein was a no at the beginning of the session; so she needs to know how we feel. So do Bacus, Kohl, Pryor and Reed. That’s my two cents.

      • 49 Judith Fardig
        July 15, 2013 at 11:32 pm

We will see tomorrow if the Dems have a majority to change the rules IF the Republicans filibuster any of PBO’s nominees. That’s the gaunlet Reid threw down as I understand it.

If Miss Ann (R-money) came across as White Privilege, this woman puts her to shame. OMFG.

How in the WORLD was she allowed to take a seat on the panel?

She basically called Rachel Jeantel a f**king liar. She is emblematic of those incapable of seeing through another person’s eyes. Totally void of empathy; obviously had her mind made up long before she took the juror oath.

    OMFG.

From the casualness of her speaking about GZ…it sounds to me like B37 knew him ahead of time…is it just me? I won’t watch her speak.

  27. July 15, 2013 at 9:57 pm

Rachel Jeantel was very endearing and well-spoken and damn good on Piers Morgan. The prosecution completely dropped the ball on prepping her. Cause if this Rachel was on the stand it “may” have been a different story, except after hearing that juror bish, I doubt it.

    • 83 forus50
      July 15, 2013 at 10:04 pm

Of course they knew exactly how it was going to go with the defense and didn’t prep her. I’ve been in her position and during the deposition my attorney just sat there and then all 4 of the attorneys (both sides) would go out to lunch together!

The police are still investigating, as the stories of the parent hosts and a couple of the children at the party do not add up. Sister is fearful there might be a cover-up as to what really happened since one parent is a cop, but is not sure yet what steps to follow.

I used to own a hand gun, a sweet little 9mm Glock that I nicknamed “Luther.” When I adopted my kids, I got rid of it; didn’t want to have something in the house that would tempt their curiosity.

Today, given the climate in the country, I’ve come to the decision that it’s time for me to find a new “Luther.” Looks like I’m going to be spending time at the range… Unreal that I suddenly feel the need to have one. Tears…

    http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/07/15/watch-msnbc-hosts-epic-rant-over-myths-about-sluts-anchor-babies-and-lgbt-pedophiles/

“When we talk about these laws, don’t we need to do more about our social contract with each other in this country when it comes to being ‘others’?” the MSNBC host asked. “Because when we look at this we can use this as a great pivot point to talk about race relations in this country. But being an ‘other,’ whether it’s LGBT — because you’re then suspected of being a pedophile and a rabid disease carrier. And if you are a woman, well, you certainly don’t have a right to your own body and your own reproductive health. Because if you do then you’re just a slut who wants to sleep around and use abortion as birth control. And then if you’re Hispanic, you’re just a taker, you’re not a maker, and you want to come here and have anchor babies and you just want to lay off the land [sic].”

“And I want to challenge this network,” Roberts continued. “We have to have an ‘I am other’ agenda and have a forum for it because ‘others’ need to unite to talk about this and figure out where we’re going as a country. The social contract we have currently negotiated that is so wrong, and how this is happening in a country where we have this huge group of people that supposed to be a melting pot that we treat each other with such disdain that it’s not even funny.”

Thank you, Thomas Roberts. Wonder who heard him….

So I need some advice on a matter than I can’t get off my mind. This past Saturday night about 7pm I was having dinner at a restaurant along the Chicago River. One of my friends owns it so with a bunch of guests in town he got me a table for 6 outside which means it was right next to where the boats (big boats/small yachts) pull up to dock. When the people on the boats are disembarking they were doing a quick two foot jump down behind where I was sitting to get into the restaurant. So maybe about 10 people did it while I was sitting there and they were all apologizing for getting a bit too close to my chair where we were sitting but it was really no big deal.

So towards the end of dinner, out of the corner of my eye I saw another person starting to get off a boat that had just docked. A male voice said, “Excuse me” and I quickly said “No excuse for ya!” in a humorous way (so I thought). As he walked by me he said in a low voice, “I needed to do that and what you said was really rude.”. I quickly turned around and then saw it was a young black guy and he was turning back looking at me angrily while he was walking away. I called out, “I was just kidding!” but I am sure he thought I wasn’t. I told my friends what had just happened as they had been busy talking and didn’t hear the first part of the exchange. I thought about it a bit more as we paid the bill and felt HORRIBLE and decided to try to find him in the restaurant to explain my poor sense of humor. But I couldn’t find him and it was weighing on my mind all night. When I got home about 9pm the verdict came in.

Needless to say, I now feel even more horrible about him thinking that I meant it personally to him. I’ve no idea on how to contact him or who he is. Does anyone know of a public forum that I might be able to post something on? I’m just sick over it.

  41. July 15, 2013 at 10:48 pm

OFA is now a non-partisan 501 c-4 working on issues and trying like mad to keep people engaged in the political porocess, not a campaign entity. We should all volunteer with both OFA and our local campaigns as separate entities. Voter registration and GOTV will be critical to keeping the Senate and taking the House. Hard to imagine who would vote for those GOP creeps after they’ve wrecked our economy and refused to help get it back on track, never mind all the other issues they’re bad on.

I believe we surely would… For me, it’s all about the Light of the Soul. There is only One Soul, and we are It. We are all fragments of Light, making up the Universe! {{{{{TOD}}}}}
