George H.W. Bush is escorted next to President Obama as they attend an event honoring the 5,000th winner of the “Daily Point of Light” award in the East Room of the White House
President Obama always looks so elegant! He walks so gracefully and smiles so big. I love it that HE was re-elected and will serve the full two terms……GHWB probably feels that keenly.
Pres. Obama is walking in with that swagger and singing this to himself: “I can turn a gray sky blue. I can make it rain, whenever I wanted to. Oh, I. I can build a castle from a single grain of sand. I can make a ship sail, uh, on dry land.”
You know, I was thinking along the same lines when I saw him earlier. When he spoke I thought he looked very, very old so I checked his age -89yrs – then checked Carters – 88yrs until October. Seems to me Old George looked less well-preserved than Carter. Maybe because I liked him better and I also know the work he has been involved in since leaving office, but Carter looks like a dignified ‘old’ ‘while Old George just look …old.
One thing about former President Carter is that he does get quite a strenuous workout helping build those Habitat for Humanity houses. This may explain why his more fit even though just about the same age as Bush.
“In the state of Pennsylvania, there are about 4.2 million registered Democrats, and 3.1 million registered Republicans. Now, look at the “total” line above. Democrats have 1.1 million more registrations, but tallied only 75,000 more votes in the election. Still think the problem is gerrymandering?”
83.9% Republican turnout in PA – 64.2% Democratic turnout. Enough extra votes statewide to win a national election but enough Democratic apathy to keep PA in Republican control – in the U.S. House and of course their awful state legislature and the governorship.
I went to an OFA meeting, training session this summer. The person that spoke said it’s not the gerrymandering that’s the problem, it’s the fact that not enough dems come out to vote. There are more of us registered, but we don’t vote than complain that it’s all the republicans fault. If we don’t get everything we want, we sit out the election instead of fighting within the system.
That’s why this post hit me. In fact, the gerrymandering meme leads to even more Democratic complacency: it leads to the notion that their votes don’t count.
Let’s be clear: every assault this country has endured since Reagan has happened because Democrats have ceded their government to an increasingly small, virulent group of nuts who vote. Republicans always vote, all the time.
That’s all it takes. The insanity in 2010 about ‘withholding your vote unless PBO is Superman” is the reason we’re seeing what we see today. This has been coming for a very long time. It has been a good 20 years since the ‘they are all the same’ meme had any bearing on reality.
We are getting the country we deserve because we don’t vote. I remember when Corbett was elected in PA, the turnout in Philly was under the even low projections. I heard recently that the recent local election in L.A. had 17% turnout. 17%!!!!!!! So don’t bitch about prosecutors or cops or any damned thing if you don’t bother to vote.
Wow…..and at one time, I used like him when he had cancer and used to come on the Air America on Al Franken’s show. When exactly did pres Obama say that “up to no good”?
Lying these days are just way too common. Shame on David Sirota.
Thanks itgurl – I did call out that worthless piece of trash. I expect to be blocked soon.
I’ve been out of town over the past several days and return to find this crap from Sirota. My tolerance for these entitled white emoprogs who seem to want to insert themselves into every national conversation – but only to attack and insult our Black President- is wearing thin.
Thanks for the update vc. Terrible thing for any family to have to go thru. 😦 Hang in there and glad you are able to be a support for the other family members, even though they may not always heed your wise counsel.
There’s a “march for jobs” taking place in Washington D.C. today where Ted Cruz, Steve King, and Allen West will sermonize the aggrieved. But their mission is not to create jobs, it’s to convince Congress to vote against immigration reform. Because, as you know, dey took err jerbs!
According to Media Matters the group that organized today’s march, the Black American Leadership Alliance, is more or less an astroturf group serving as a front for FAIR, an anti-immigrant hate group that sympathizes with white supremacists.
The stay was granted while the court considers the validity of a law that “purposely shields from judicial review the manner by which the drugs to be used in his execution were manufactured and obtained.” Judge Tusan’s order does not involve the question of whether Hill can be executed despite his mental disability.
They’re also the same states that scream the loudest about the “pro-life” obsessions, even while doing nothing at all to promote life, or protect it once it’s here, or ensure that the life they bring into the world has the best opportunities for success and justice that are possible. Hypocrites.
HF2,
Here’s a comparison pic (from the Brit rightwing inflamatory rag Mail Online — I scroll past the many offensive articles to see if there are any photos of interest).
No other first lady in history could wear the sumptuous jewel and metallic gowns that FLOTUS wears at state dinners and not fade into the background. FLOTUS has beautiful skin and those jewels, metals look so good on her. Course, she looks wonderful in red and white, too.
Not that Huma looks bad in the dress, but of course FLOTUS is just outstanding, in a class by herself. I wonder what made Huma decide to wear that particular dress? Does candidate Weiner want PBO supporters in NY to vote for him?
I don’t see any issues. Part of the charm of Mrs. Obama is that she’s an ordinary, and yet extraordinary, woman. She wears clothes off the rack that the rest of us could wear, and she’s also got some designer outfits – because she’s worked hard to be able to afford them! We don’t even know who bought the dress first… and I actually saw a woman wearing another dress that I’d seen Michelle Obama wearing, and she obviously felt fabulous in it! I think it’s a compliment.
I say, we pile on Sirota as much as possible today, since I’m sure Chris Hayes’ speed dial couldn’t get him to the show fast enough. For the dozens of people who watch Chris Hayes.
Sirota also implied that Obama killed Al-Awlaki because Al-Awlaki was a person of color. See "It is, of course, no coincidence that" graph.
Heh…many people have called him out and he can’t bear to hear the truth about himself…Like his friend GG, he will block anyone who challenges him. He just blocked me for calling him out.
I’m sure I’m blocked, too. A badge of honor from these bastions of Freedom who think they are the only ones who get to say or think anything, and anyone who deviates from their mindset is dirt.
They didn’t get their puppies and rainbows. They act like spoiled children, and if they can’t have their ice cream RIGHT NOW, Daddy is ruining their lives!
O/T: KcKenna and her mom just did a whole segment on our local afternoon ‘talk’ show. They made her muffins. The mom talked quite a bit about their trip to the WH, McKenna’s hug from the President. The hosts of this show are so loving and kind……just wonderful with McKenna. They invited her back to the show to cook with them again. The mom talked about how many muffins they made each fall as a fund-raiser for a local Downs Walk. I have the recipe printed. Hope I can make them later this week. I’ll give you a report when I do that.
The office of Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) told me he voted against the veterans job bill which he helped write because the cost of $1 billion for four years was too expensive. He voted for both wars.
Reason #1,000,900,001 why far-left faux-gressives can KMNBA
@davidsirota 15m
Those outraged by Zimmerman verdict but fine w/ drone killing children of color show partisan politics defines their supposed principles.
@davidsirota 18m
It’s consistent to be outraged by BOTH Zimmerman verdict & killing of 16 yr old Awlaki. It’s inconsistent to only be outraged by the fmr
So the comparison is that Barack Obama is George Zimmerman and Travyon Martin is Al Awaki!!!!
Really mofo! Really!!!
I swear if I EVER saw David Sirota in the streets and I knew who he was, I would smack him across his face….period.
The Dem party should thank their lucky stars that David Sirota is not known by anyone but the INTERNET left, cause that right there, faux-gressive logic or not, is how you piss people off.
ETA: Another person who can KMNBA is the juror who’s allegedly gonna be writing a book (if true). And I’m supposed to “respect this verdict” and this person (allegedly) is already writing a book about it!!!!
This is what feeds the simmering anger I was talking about the other day
Know Hope….and trust these kids. Our country will certainly be in good hands:) (This is why I choose to spend my entire working day around kids) Love them
now that is a true statement. I think I would consider Joy a journalist as well. She really thinks through the issues, is fair and researches before she speaks.
First?
Yes! Hello 57!!
WhA?? You first, YES!
I’m so proud………
😆 😆 WHo will you be thanking in the manner of the Academy Awards?
I’m waiting for my bouquet from Chips before writing my acceptance speech.
De naaaaaaaa!
Now I have to write the effing speech because this is just AWESOME beyond words.
Okay, here goes: huma huma huma…… heart flutters, words fail, 57 is weak in the knees………
If you forget to thank your agent, you’re a DISGRACE.
I better get me one of them agent-guys……..
Why does everything seem to always come back to talking about KNEES! 😦 😦 😦
Sweet Picture for a sweet POTUS 😉
Aaaah. I see. Well congrats, 57F, whether the bouquet is delivered, or not.
Congratulations,57.

Woooooot! DF for the WIN!
Who doesn’t love the Temptations:)!!!
That is SO FUNNY, UT! Thanks for the chuckle.
Wonder why Former Pres. Bush is in a wheelchair?
I think he is generally feeble.
He does have a few years on him. Wonder if he can walk at all.
He is 89 years of age. He doesn’t seem to be able to walk. Both of his hips have been replaced.
You know, I was thinking along the same lines when I saw him earlier. When he spoke I thought he looked very, very old so I checked his age -89yrs – then checked Carters – 88yrs until October. VL, are you suggesting that GHWB didn’t get his workout on the ranch too? Well!!! 😉
Lol!
here’s an interesting post, apropos of how important it is to VOTE and why our votes COUNT if be bother to VOTE.
Have I mentioned we have to get out there and VOTE?

Yes, we definitely have to increase our turnout.

For those who haven’t been blocked, go call him out for this.
Wow…..and at one time, I used like him when he had cancer and used to come on the Air America on Al Franken’s show. When exactly did pres Obama say that “up to no good”?
Lying these days are just way too common. Shame on David Sirota.
Salon is a far left loon site that . Joan Walsh hired Glen Greenwald to write for it.
Sirota is a buddy of Chris Hayes.
Thanks itgurl – I did call out that worthless piece of trash. I expect to be blocked soon.

Hi, Hopef!
Hiya vc! How have ya been?! 🙂
Well I know you’re in good hands with TOD…
But how are things with you & your family since last week? Sending some more thoughts of peace and healing to you all!
i) Nothing new – autopsy confirmed death by drowning 🙄
ii) Funeral delayed while father awaits arrival of his own family members from outside of country
iii) Getting hints that sibling seriously thinking of a lawsuit (despite my suggestion that’s premature)
Thanks for the update vc. Terrible thing for any family to have to go thru. 😦 Hang in there and glad you are able to be a support for the other family members, even though they may not always heed your wise counsel.
They rarely heed my counsel, Hf – wise or otherwise. 😉 They generally listen politely, then do what they want to do anyway.

Here Are the 15 Bills That Have Actually Become Law So Far This Year

….
Those tragic, heroic Prescott firefighters have not been forgotten:
The vigil is taking place at the Los Angeles County Fire Station 23 in Bellflower.
Deputies will stand guard in full uniform to pay tribute to the son of Los Angeles County Fire Capt. Joe Woyjeck.
And from July 8th:
What’s surprising is that CarolMaeWY responded that she hasn’t seen anything about this is the local Gillette WY newspaper.
**********BREAKING GOOD NEWS!!!************

Oooh! Any of the nut jobs screaming about a Marine pushing a wheelchair for a president? Didn’t think so.
Well, not a Republican former President, anyway…….
I thought of that immediately, too.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery 🙂
Maybe she borrowed it?
🙂
Could be…but that means she would have had to do some serious hemming at the tailor. FLOTUS is tall!! 🙂
Yes!
🙂

No comparison, actually.

Not that Huma looks bad in the dress, but of course FLOTUS is just outstanding, in a class by herself. I wonder what made Huma decide to wear that particular dress? Does candidate Weiner want PBO supporters in NY to vote for him?
I like Huma.
Huma looks great and it is just a dress that both women obviously like. so I don’t see any issue. She looks great.
I don’t see any issues. Part of the charm of Mrs. Obama is that she’s an ordinary, and yet extraordinary, woman. I heard she might also go to Beyonce concert.
So FLOTUS will be in Chicago Thursday to meet with Mayor Rahm and his wife Amy to visit a career and employment program for high school kids.
Thanks for the info dotster3.

I love Bob Cesca. This was a great takedown of Sirota. What is it with this PL crowd? Why do they hate PBO so much?
They didn’t get their puppies and rainbows. They act like spoiled children, and if they can’t have their ice cream RIGHT NOW, Daddy is ruining their lives!
He Uses the N word…
I find this hilarious
Is Sirota’s bread done? Do these people not realize that tis is the greatest President in the works in history?
Ladies, I think the bangs are really gone. http://news.yahoo.com/photos/former.first lady barbara-bush-first lady-.
Forget that above, I thought it was a picture of FLOTUS today with her hair comb back in a bun. That’s why I said the bangs are gone.

The office of Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) told me he voted against the veterans job bill which he helped write because the cost of $1 billion for four years was too expensive. He voted for both wars.
Bc the sequester cuts that much, they don’t want to move that money around, especially seeing how they have another sequester planned for October.
Helping veterans find jobs is not worth the money, they are a bunch of sorry ass people. I am talking about Sen. Burr.
🙂

Joy Reed speaks so much more Artuculate than Eugene.
She is a way better pundit than Eugene, and sticks up for her positions.
She just is!
Jovie – Eugene has a speech impediment. He is articulate but he has a problem with stuttering. He is better at writing to convey his thoughts.
Joy Reid is a WAY better pundit than 99% of the MSNBC pundits.
now that is a true statement. I think I would consider Joy a journalist as well. She really thinks through the issues, is fair and researches before she speaks.
Looks like any other photo of the Pres. and Rahm in the Oval, but, hey. Still good!
So was Rahm by the Oval office today?
