Forgive the re-post, Chips, but I’m on a mission ….

As all of you know, I’ve mentioned this fact more than once in various posts. It was not until the RE-Election of President Obama that an unambiguous shift in America to a rejection of racism, and all the evil it represents began.

We are now going to go through at least a decade of doing what should have been done at the end of the Civil War. Clearly, if Lincoln had not been assassinated, the process of reconstruction would have been more robust and focused on erasing the inequities of slavery.

But, that was not to be the case and even with the Civil Rights and Voting Rights and desegregation of schools, it was not going to be a reality.

Upon an African-American becoming President all the underlying racism began to ooze in undeniable, inescapable actions. Upon President Obama’s re-election, it has erupted. The 20 Jan 2009 insurgency against him, has now become an all out assault to undermine him as well as an all out assault on people of color and women.

The travesty of not only the Trayvon Martin verdict but the fact that a murderer walked free for weeks after killing a black child could not be a more potent statement that a segment of America would revert to slavery in a heart beat if it could. And, it’s not just jacked up, Jim Crow. gun totting nuts, it’s 5 members of the Supreme Court of the USA, & every Republican in the House of Representatives who have proved that to be true within the past few weeks.

That racism and misogyny go hand in hand is, of course, of no surprise. It is odd that some women, especially white women in America, do not grok the connection and the reality that ‘their men’ view them as merely a SLAVE.

The white, plutocrat, ALEC-orchestrated assault on women and people of color coupled with their efforts to both profit from and expand access to weapons of mass murder could not make their agenda more obvious.

Women, people of color, & men who have even an ounce of empathy, a shard of ethics, a modicum of self-worth must join together and ensure every person who can legally vote does so – in special elections this year and throughout the Nation in 2014. We must build a Federal Congress, as well as, Governorships, Congresses, Mayoral positions, etc., in every State & City with those who will end the Civil War, end inequities toward women, halt profiling of non-whites, restrict access to weapons of mass murder, expand access to nutrition and education for every child (from the day they are born) and build an America that begins to act, not talk, equitably toward every person.

They cannot believe a black man ws elected President – solution – stop black people voting, stop black people getting educated, stop black people having health care – and if all that fails – shoot them.

I cannot wax eloquent about what has happened – I cannot make the great speeches, nor talk the healing words – I never believed that I would see such a dark underbelly of a country that we all once admired – brought to the surface because a young, intelligent, forthright, and wonderful black man was elected President. The joy that the world saw in 2008 is being replaced by the realization that a large % of US citizens do not want their country to be a democracy.

“The joy that the world saw in 2008 is being replaced by the realization that a large % of US citizens do not want their country to be a democracy.”

We are here to expand that joy.

We are here to end the Civil War.

We are here to end any form of slavery, no matter how blatant or subtle.

We are here to protect and nurture those too young or infirm to care for themselves.

Bless you Bob – because I am not so close to it all – I can hide – and pretend it won’t happen in my world – not a good assumption – every time I get down – the TOD folks have so much support to give – may it ever be that way. Sometimes we do not realize what we had – until it is gone.

” solution – stop black people voting, stop black people getting educated”

        The opposite will be true.

Today I sat my four children down and they are not yet 13. I explained what happened yesterday and had the talk. I let them know someone else’s insecurity because of the pigment of their skin is not their problem. I explained that life is transient and to remember with everything there is a season. A time to live ..a time to die. I let them know they are to always be confident in their own abilities and in their self worth. To be respectful and to demand respect. In response to yesterdays travesty, they are to become more educated, be civic minded. If they for someone reason they are not hired for a job that is fine. Create their own net worth.

They have a mind…use it. They have talent…harness it. They have a will…leverage it to succeed. In the face of injustice to let their voice be heard and stand for what they believe in regardless of the circumstances. You can’t control the actions of another person but you can control your own destiny.

Everything else is what it is.

“It wasn’t until the RE-Election of President Obama…” You so nailed it, Bobfr. The ‘rovian powers that be’ thought a one term biracial president would be easy pickings. I’d elect him for LIFE if I could.

Just look at them. Old, scared easily manipulated people. They have no idea they are being played and used as pawns. Mr. “Medicare” there with the sign…I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.
