FTR: I was having a PRIVATE conversation here at home in the village after someone mentioned desert rose (or something such) and I remarked that I would not have associated that colour with the desert. Reminded of sunrise in the desert, I admitted I hadn’t thought of that, though that would suggest a yellowish-orangey shade to me (don’t remember my wording exactly but the record will show). I was not speaking about PBO’s shirt per se. AND my (old) computer was acting up anyway so I was not keeping as close tabs on twitter or other convos here as I would have liked. So can you now imagine my shock to see my words taken out of context and published – PUBLISHED – without my prior written permission? Can you empathize? In fact, it seems like the party in question plotted ahead with her twitter cronies to gather my words, as they were prefaced with a number [BREAKING IIII ???] Not only had my words been listened to and broadcasted abroad, but (computer) pictures were taken, and those too were disseminated (and made fun of by you – but I won’t address that here). For all I know there might even be pictures of me at the computer floating around out there! I WAS NOT DRUNK!! I was SPIED upon and my data collected and then shared. The similarities between this and the Snowden scenario is troubling. What is happening to privacy in this country? Is all this legal?
I’ve missed you all. I want to thank all of you who sent me messages of support this week. My niece if physically recovered and will get the treatment and care she needs to make a full recovery. It’s been a trying week but we have persevered.

I’m with you on this one, Annieb. IMO it’s good to have an understanding of PBO and instinctively feel what he would/wouldn’t say. IMO not many of the comedians, cartoonists, or journalist really get that, and sometimes they say things that would generally be considered funny but they just jar when PBO is involved. It’s like they go for the laugh line, without considering the clear evidence of this president’s personality or focus. When it seems unlike something he WOULD say, it’s hard for me to appreciate it .
This reminds me of an incident I had recently. I met a girlfriend for lunch and she was telling me how she had bought her mom a Mother’s Day gift to see and hear Hillary Clinton speak. Naturally that led to a conversation about PBO in the course of which we ended in a discussion of his character. She likes him – I knew that – but figured he is not ‘perfect’ ; for example, once an open mike caught him saying mean and undiplomatic things about Canadian prime minister, Steven Harper. Knowing our president, I was shocked to hear this because a) it’s so unlike my knowledge of him, and b)not a hint of it was ever mentioned on the blog here. My friend promised to send me the link which she did. I read it, and realized it was totally out of character….but it was there in print! Of course FOX featured in it and so did O’Reiley, and the president supposedly made more than one negative comment. IMO there was NO WAY PBO would have said what was attributed to him – it was a conversation (not even one comment) making fun of Steven Harper with his aide! The end was after clicking around for a while I discovered that it was done by a satire site. I sent that info to my girlfriend – who didn’t respond to it or mention it again , though we did email on another topic.
I’m not sure that your friend actually truly likes the president. I think anyone who considers an opportunity to see HRC speak a worthy Mother’s day gift have got to be a strong Hillary supporter. It is true that many of them ultimately backed the president (have they any other rational choice?) but they are not very enthusiastic about him.
The difference between you and her is in how quickly she was willing to believe and spread the story. No one in recent memory has been smeared as much as PBO and that is why any fair minded person should always double or triple check whenever they hear negative stories about him. Most of the time (95-99% of the time?) they have been false. Because you truly like the president, you chose to find the source and confirm the credibility of the story. Alas it is false!
It is interesting that she was no longer interested in the story once you found and showed her the truth. I am pretty sure that she did not share your information to all the people that she has shared the smear with. Your friend might have voted for PBO (because she has no choice) but she definitely does not like the president.
