Few high school sweethearts make it past the hat toss at graduation. But Taylor Morris and Danielle Kelly have made it through so much more.
The Iowa natives stayed together and, in 2007, Morris enlisted as an explosive ordnance disposal technician in the Navy. After years of training, Morris was assigned to Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit 12 and the couple moved to Virginia Beach, Va.
While Morris, a second class, was deployed to Afghanistan, the couple talked about their future plans. They considered where they would live when he got back and left the Navy, and adventures they would have, like skydiving and a trip to Africa.
But then Morris stepped on an improvised explosive device, losing both legs above the knee, his left arm and right hand. But that tragic incident has done nothing to stifle the couple’s relationship.

I’m enjoying a nice Manhattan right now. I’ve stocked up on margarita fixings for my guests. And the best part is that they’re bringing all the food; all I have to do is mix drinks and eat.

I have very mixed feelings about Jefferson. The things that have been coming out about him since last year do not paint a very nice man. I know the founding fathers weren’t champions for the oppressed (slaves) but Jefferson’s attitude in particular towards slavery and slaves themselves was just beyond the pale. On the one hand he speaks of values and lifting up all man but on the other he was unusually cruel.
Oh Yardarm, for some reason the poster “No Regrets” started a flood of tears. I read a comment a fellow posted on another site regarding war the other day. He said the boys were sent to be “dead in a far off land”. When you think of the beautiful men and women who have died, it’s just beyond painful. I weep for them all.
