And they are off for home. CBS livestream covered it. A joyous farewell from the people of Tanzania. This should boost the Tanzanian president’s popularity, I should think. So glad they finished with this country where they were received with open arms throughout.

Yes, I’m thrilled at the naked joy in these people’s faces as they performed for, and greeted, the Obama family. The media must have been disappointed that they couldn’t find two protesters, so they could continue their narrative of a cold reception in Africa. I didn’t get to see any of this live, but the pictures really conveyed the love of life, happiness and joy from the Tanzanian people.

I did want to see the Obamas off on the journey home, but it seems like I missed them. Ah well, I’ll try to meet them at the other end, so back to bed I go! All you other crazy Obots……..if you ask me, you need to see a counselor, psychiatrist, or something. 😉 😉

vc, I missed them taking off too. I will do my best to see them arriving back home tonight. I’m sure Bo will be happy to see them and they him. Thanks to the First Family for making us so proud, for going over there and representing us Americans so wonderfully.

    • July 2, 2013 at 8:20 am

I’m sorry, but there won’t be an appointment available for 6 months. Backlog!

      • July 2, 2013 at 8:28 am

I’m part of that backlog 🙂

        July 2, 2013 at 12:14 pm

Hmmmmm. Looks like I could start my own counseling agency and make a bundle. Wonder where I could find a course for a nine 3-4 months degree in counseling? With all the potential customers here in the village I have added incentive to make sure I get the diploma – assuming a diploma is even necessary to open my doors. (What kind of diploma does Mr. Bachmann have?)

BTW, I’ve been online for hours trying to get visuals embedded in an article I’m preparing, using a ‘free’ program, and it just isn’t biting. I’m ready to give up, ALMOST, so I thought I’d come groan over here first to refresh my energy. Plus I have to go do some lab tests so I may not see you face to face until whenever.

  11. July 2, 2013 at 5:47 am

I give up….. this is a Bolshevik plot. “He must stop his work aimed at harming our American partners, as strange as that sounds coming from my lips,” he told reporters in Moscow. “He must choose a country of destination and go there. Unfortunately, I don’t know when this will happen.”

WoW!!!! What a trip. Thank you to the African people who welcome our President, First Lady and their family with such love and respect. I hope and pray the business part of the trip is a success, which we might not know right now but we know that this President have set things in motion. So I’m sure the trip was was and will be worth it. So proud of our President and First Lady.

😳 Supposed to be heading back to bed! BBL – later!

  13. July 2, 2013 at 6:22 am

Chip was up before me? unbelievable.
LOL. Just want to say thanks so much TOD for the Africa Trip series. My late Aunt was a Peace Corp Country Director for Malawi & Botswanna back in the 80s. Not only would she be wearing one of those Obama skirts, she would be leading the dancers too.
Your wonderful pics of Africa TOD brought back so many memories of a lovely lady in my life. Thanks!

Chuck Toddler never seems to have grown up. He’s supposed to be a professional. He theoretically has a job to do for which is he paid handsomely. Only a self-absorbed child would start whining about his inconvenience on television. Does he have some hold on his bosses that they continue to pay him for acting like a spoiled brat?

    • July 2, 2013 at 8:24 am

Chuck Todd is physically and mentally unfit. He’s an overindulged, overfed, overpaid, and under-worked hack. No wonder he resents PBO so much. PBO is everything UpChuck would love to but NEVER could be.

Those who do little complain the most. Our president and First lady were on the same plane, worked non-stop, had to be pleasant and engaged no matter how tired they were or bored or annoyed; had the added pressure of keeping up with and seeing to three kids and a senior citizen, were out in all kinds of weather, spoke to thousands, shook hands with hundreds (no Purel in sight), had to fight off the fatigue that comes with crossing time zones, comforted the Mandela family, comforted their kids at the painful places of slavery and oppression, had to be in the presence of the Bushes and watch Cokie fawn over them, had to school and scold the whpc, ALL of this and more without any time off because the haters made a big stink about a family safari, And ChuckTodd has the nerve to tweet about being tired!!!! The only thing that he and the other haters want is for the Black man to work all of the time cleaning up their shit, with no time off, no credit, and without the advantages that come with the office that every other president and his family enjoyed. I am sick and tired of this bull shit.

That’s the truth -not a single country is willing to “stick a finger in the eye of the US” for Snowald. He’s not worth that risk.

“Mr Snowden accused the Obama administration of deception in a campaign to prevent him from finding political asylum and of “leaving me a stateless person” by revoking his US passport.”

      smdh!

      • July 2, 2013 at 8:59 am

Translation: My being a traitor on the run is all his fault. So there. Apparently not only does hacker Snowden have issues with reality but his hearing isn’t any good either. Because from statements like this he sure can’t hear the world laughing at him.

        July 2, 2013 at 9:19 am

This “boy” is utterly self-delusional. He wanted to commit a crime and undermine US national security and not even get his wrist slapped. How dare the ‘Obama administration” (not the US Government) retaliate in any way for my criminal/traitorous acts? I am the mighty Snowden so all governments must bow before me. This guy is a comic book character. The real world eludes him so he lives a make-believe life in his head.

He is beginning to see what others who have underestimated him have seen. Sucks to be him.

I love our FLOTUS — she has a good heart.

Fugitive intelligence leaker Edward Snowden has suffered a setback in his attempts to avoid extradition to the US, as a number of countries have rejected his requests for asylum.

Eight European states including Spain and Germany said asylum applicants had to be on their soil.

    India has also said no.

Mr Snowden, who is at Moscow airport, sent requests to 21 countries in total, Wikileaks said, but he later withdrew a request to Russia.

    ///

“Following careful examination we have concluded that we see no reason to accede to the Snowden request,” Indian foreign ministry spokesman Syed Akbaruddin said on Twitter.

Austria, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Spain, Switzerland said his request was invalid because it was not made from their own territory.

“Delivering an application for asylum from abroad is in principle not allowed,” Norwegian deputy justice secretary Paal Loenseth told the country’s state TV.

Polish Foreign Minister Radoslav Sikorski said it would have been rejected even if it was valid.

“We received a document that does not meet the requirements for a formal application for asylum,” he wrote on his Twitter account.

“Even if it did, I would not give a positive recommendation.”

Meanwhile Mr Hollande denied that France had received a specific asylum request from Mr Snowden.

The European Parliament has removed the immunity of the French far-right leader and MEP Marine Le Pen, paving the way for her prosecution in France.

French prosecutors opened a case against Ms Le Pen in 2011 after she compared Muslims praying in the streets to the Nazi occupation of France.

Ms Le Pen, leader of the National Front (FN), is accused of incitement to hatred and discrimination.

The vote followed a move by a committee of MEPs to remove her immunity.

The request to do so came from the chief prosecutor’s office in Lyon, the city where, in December 2010, Ms Le Pen told FN supporters that the sight of Muslims praying in the street was similar to the Nazi occupation in World War II.

Some people are just full of hate. This woman and her National Front movement are more like the Nazi’s than anyone innocently praying in the streets. What a pathetic person – I hope they throw the book at her.

          …shoes…you are being kind!

        • July 2, 2013 at 9:16 am

I’m not sure that Maddow & Hayes stopped kissing his shoes. I think it’s because the (largely Pro-Obama) crowd who would otherwise watch MSNBC are not having any of Greenwald’s BS whenever he appears on Hayes or Maddow, resulting in lowered ratings for those two shows. MSNBC tried having him appear on Lawrence a few times instead – with probably the same negative result of lower ratings when he came on.

No matter how hard I try, HF, I can’t wrap my mind around a person who thinks they can get away with what Snowden did without consequences? I realize that Greenwald is consumed with hate, but, really, could even the Fox audience think a traitor like Snowden should have been able to fly around the world with valid passport? Did he think he was playing tiddlywinks and we would all pat him on his head for his little pranks?

Hi Jackie – if you see my late reply – Most right wingers do not approve of what Snowden has done – so I would agree – I don’t think Fox will be much of a platform for gg – most of the viewers would want Snowden arrested.

    • 101 lisalovesobama
      July 2, 2013 at 9:16 am

here’s the article. It’s basically how the NSA promotes critical thinking and advanced educational skills among students in the Maryland/ Washington DC area. They basically try to make education seem cool, especially the math and sciences which America is lagging behind in. TPM is really trying to make an educational program sound like Hitler re-educating kids in Nazi Germany with that stupid headline. SMDH.

The real problem is that most Americans only read the headlines, and never make it into the actual article, or do any investigations for themselves. When you’re spoon-fed this crap, it breeds more crap.
