Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant, UT. It makes me so happy to see Texas women fight back. Whether or not this specific atrocity of a bill is passed, this violation of women’s rights won’t be forgotten. Now this energy has to be turned into the specific activism of getting out the word, registering voters and making sure that all woman who can vote in next year’s Texas mid-terms with Wendy Davis leading the pack as THE candidate for governor.

When Perry went on that rant about Wendy Davis’s private life, it made my husband very angry, he who rarely gets angry. He said how low can that man go! I have a feeling he was not the only man or woman angered by that rant of Perry’s. This horrible Senate combined with the Ohio budget deal that Kasich signed last night……in the presence of only white middle-aged men, will, I hope be the spark that fires an entire movement to get these guys out in 2014. NO ONE is safe with these guys in power!!!

Probably been posted already, but the Egyptian military has given Pres. Morsi 48 hours to come to an agreement with the opposition or it will intervene. And 10 of Morsi’s ministers have resigned.

        • July 1, 2013 at 2:44 pm

I quite agree. If you’ll recall Willard Romney said as much. He blamed President Obama for the Arab Spring, as if seeking freedom is a bad thing.

LL I’m glad you said that, Health Care the Auto Industry, DADT, DOMA, bin laden, Kaddafi. All of these things happened BECAUSE OF PRESIDENT OBAMA. Change doesn’t just happen out of thin air. There must be a spark, and President Obama was the spark that people were looking for.

        • July 1, 2013 at 3:58 pm

Absolutely I agree, LL. This is where the vision of PBO is being manifested:
not in the crummy, non-generative Congress, but in the peoples of the world.
Yes. His legacy is out here, with us.

Morsi could have been the one to set Egypt on a course to reach its full potential, but now her citizens see him as the problem. Once you lose the people’s trust it is so hard to regain it.

I laugh at my Republican friends at work because they can’t understand how Barack was elected twice. I told them that when a woman goes into the voting booth and she’s alone, she will always vote her interest when it comes to issues concerning her health. Many Republican women stand with the women of Texas, they just don’t show it.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said his agency, which is largely responsible for fighting monster fires along with the Interior Department, will try to manage burns with 500 fewer firefighters and 50 fewer engines and by shifting money earmarked for prevention to pay for fire suppression. …

The sequester cut more than $115 million from the federal wildland fire program budget, USDA officials have said, at a time when the nation continues to face abnormally dry conditions, particularly in the West, as a result of climate change. …

Over the past 15 years, the nation has experienced its 12 hottest years on record. And since 2000, fires have burned bigger than ever. …

          • July 1, 2013 at 2:56 pm

It will continue to be that way until Democrats start to play the game the way they do and they don’t even have to lie. Everytime something happens they should be pitching a bitch about sequestration and blaming the Republicans. Instead they stand around waiting for President Obama, so they won’t have to take responsibility for anything. A bully will keep kicking your butt until you fight back.

NEW YORK — As the hub of the Soviet Union, Russia was reviled for rights abuses by many U.S. conservatives during the Cold War. Now some are voicing support and admiration as Russian authorities crack down on gay-rights activism.

The latest step drawing praise from social conservatives is a bill signed into law Sunday by President Vladimir Putin that would impose hefty fines for holding gay pride rallies or providing information about the gay community to minors.

In another a sign of Russia’s evolving stature among some U.S. social conservatives, the Illinois-based World Congress of Families plans to hold its eighth international conference at the Kremlin in Moscow next year.

How do you know Rick Perry is not that bright? It is 2013 and we are already hearing how much of a done deal it is that Hillary Clinton will throw her hat in the ring and here is Rick Perry making it so much easier for her to flip that state. I am telling you, he is something special.

Anyways, great thanks to the blog tyrants for the fantastic coverage of our Africa trip 🙂 I was in the woods, in a tent and checking in and out – it was so funny, took forever for the site to load. Yep! I am a TOD girl 🙂

GA TOD…. some other good news. Mitch McConnell better watch out! He has a real opponent…a family w/ deep ties to D party in KY… she does not have a long political career for Mitch to start sullying, which we know he will do anyway, but we all need to support her. She was already within 4 pts. of him before the Ashley Judd rumors began swirling. Just like John Thune took our then Sen. Maj Leader Daschle…. she is supremely capable of taking out Minority Leader McConnel…. will post her campaign info when it is released later this afternoon.

      • 92 Bill

He is saying there are no more leaks from Snowden. Could be a response to Putin’s demand for Snowden to cease..

        • 93 57andfemale
          July 1, 2013 at 3:45 pm

That’s not what he meant. I forget where I read the whole story: he said that Snowden has dumped everything he has in the hands of the newspapers, and it’s up to them to decide what to print.

he’s done in the sense that his ignorance of history and his apparent technical expertise collided in a perfect storm of idiocy.

No No No Greenwald, your “my name is Bennett and I’m not it” routine isn’t going to fly; you are knee deep in this shit. As if I couldn’t love George R. R. Martin any more:

Martin maintains a LiveJournal account called “Not A Blog” where he posts about his works and various unrelated topics such as politics and the NFL: he is a lifelong supporter of the Democratic Party and claimed Jimmy Carter, during an interview with Authors@Google, to be “clearly the best human being to be president during my lifetime”. He has recently expressed admiration for Barack Obama and strongly condemned attempts at voter suppression, likening it to the behavior of Democrats of the Solid South and citing the pro-voting rights Republicans of his youth as a far better rolemodel for the conservative movement, citing youthful admiration for specifically Everett Dirksen, Henry Cabot Lodge Jr., Clifford Case, William Scranton and Barry Goldwater.[49]

    Now get back to writing!

[Dood, your goose is cooked! 15 countries?!!!]:

MOSCOW — Edward Snowden, the former National Security Agency contractor who leaked U.S. security secrets and is now a fugitive, met Monday morning with Russian diplomatic officials and handed them an appeal to 15 countries for political asylum, a Russian Foreign Ministry official told The Times.

“It was a desperate measure on his part after Ecuador disavowed his political protection credentials,” said the official, speaking on condition of anonymity. ”In the document Snowden reiterated once again that he is not a traitor and explained his actions only by a desire to open the world’s eyes on the flagrant violations by U.S. special services not only of American citizens but also citizens of European Union including their NATO allies.”

The official didn’t disclose the countries that were on the list. The meeting took place at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport, where Snowden has apparently holed up in a transit lounge since fleeing from Hong Kong while seeking a route to Ecuador or somewhere else that might grant him asylum. […..]
