This ugly scene could have been avoided if Ohioans had re-elected Gov Strickland. He was a good man. One lousy election brings this descent into hatred and misogyny. It sickens me to see this.

I think many dems allowed themselves to fall prey to republicans’ anti-Park 51 tactics and some fake dems’ discouraging comments about not getting their little ponies on January 21, 2009 and didn’t vote in 2010. Republicans never attack their own pols over things that dems say. They close ranks and offer a lot of support. Dems, OTOH, allow themselves to buy into whatever a RWer says, and it’s pitiful watching them turn on their own pols over stupid stuff. All of the fake scandals the republicans have created, along with Greenwald’s questionable reporting on the NSA’s surveillance activities are intended to depress dems and compel to not show up at the polls in 2014. I’ve never understood some dems tendency to be convinced by RW lies to the point where they don’t show up and vote. I always vote, and I am not influenced by the likes of Greenwald and Chris Christie to vote for any republican politician, Jackie. I guess when one gets older, it’s easier to see through the BS that republican pols throw out for public consumption. I’ve noticed that some dems are still defending Greenwald, even though information has emerged that shows he’s a self-serving opportunist and first class liar.

What is it with these men? I am fed up with these men.

When are women going to wake up and throw these jerks out!!!!!!!

In all of this anti-woman legislation, they totally give no thought to the man that got the woman in this uncomfortable situation in the first place.

Senator Nina Hunter has been working hard against this. She is a fighter. These people slipped these horrible restrictions into the BUDGET, so they never even came up for debate. It was a totally underhanded trick.

You know, I can’t help myself, but I said this on Twitter – Women need to stop putting out. Seriously, have the courage & willpower to withhold sex from these aholes. I bet that’s the only thing they’ll understand. Hope I’m not too raunchy, but these guys are obsessed with women’s bodies, so they shouldn’t be allowed to touch any.

Great idea a female politician in an African country (Liberia I think) tried it, it not only garnered a lot of world wide attention but the issue was speedily dealt with and women and their issues ceased to be ignored…I say its time for women in Texas and those other right wing nut job state houses to close up shop until these men get with the program …we should be the only thing standing..pun intended

Hopefruit2 and anniebella, I hope we all can continue to enjoy our POTUS and FLOTUS by watching them travel, write their books, and speak all over the world. Then too, we can watch our First Daughters in college as well.

I am going to miss them so much. However, I have hope that Almighty still has so wonderful gems in these two beautiful souls for all of our TOD family to watch and enjoy.. I pray daily for grace to witness it all. HZ

Not me, Hopefruit! I will be rejoicing that our first African American President, despite all the hate and obstruction, successfully finished his two terms as president and left the world stage highly beloved and respected by most people in the world.

        • 80 99ts
          July 1, 2013 at 5:38 am

But he will remain on the world stage for the rest of his life nath – unlike some ex presidents who are not welcome in much of the world.

    • 81 nathkatun7
      July 1, 2013 at 1:07 am

Sorry, as much as I love President Obama and the First Lady, I don’t agree with that. The President has been saying to potential young African leaders that no leader is indispensable. I want them to serve their term and after that they will still be able to make a contribution to improving the lives of people throughout the world as private citizens.

Part of me agree with you too nathkatun 7, cause I know FLOTUS wouldn’t be for it. No way, no how. But it’s just me being selfish thinking of myself, wondering what it would be like when POTUS and FLOTUS walk out of that WH for good. And I’m being honest, it will not be easy. But they both will be young enough to continue to do great things .

          • 84 nathkatun7

“…it’s just me being selfish thinking of myself…”

Anniebella, I totally understand how you feel! I feel the same way when I am being selfish too. But I know that the right thing to do is to be realistic. The Constitution is what it is, and Presidents are limited to two terms; which, on the whole, is a good thing. Please don’t get me wrong, I too will greatly miss them when they are no longer in the White House. But as you said, both POTUS and FLOTUS are still relatively young (at least compared to me) and they will still have ample opportunity to do great things. One of the things I hope they will do is to create an institute to train new leaders. FLOTUS can also continue her interest in inspiring young people to pursue healthy habits of eating well and exercising, the two most important things I wish I had paid attention to in my early years. In addition, I think It would be a good thing for their teenager girls to be able to enjoy relatively normal lives away from the WH bubble!

With a heavy heart I bid you good night!

    Brother When You Weep…

Brother when you weep for me
Remember that it was meant to be
Lay me down and when you leave
Remember I’ll be at your sleeve
In every dark and choking hall
I’ll be there as you slowly crawl
On every roof in driving snow
I’ll hold your coat and you will know
In cellars hot with searing heat
At windows where a gate you meet
In closets where young children hide
You know I’ll be there at your side
The house from which I now respond
    Is overstaffed with heroes gone
Men who answered one last bell
Did the job and did it well
    As firemen we understand
That death’s a card dealt in our hand
A card we hope we never play
But one we hold there anyway
That card is something we ignore
As we crawl across a weakened floor
For we know that we’re the only prayer
For anyone that might be there
So remember as you wipe your tears
The joy I knew throughout the years
As I did the job I loved to do
I pray that thought will see you through

Dear Friend, Yes, I also think Noonan is an idiot. I would voice my objection if you used a racial slur. So I voice one now. Calling her a cunt is demeaning, abusive and sexist.

I would agree Anna – the woman is a first class idiot – one of the many who supports the GOP hatred towards women – she really thinks it is not directed at herself – sad – but some words demean ALL women and should never be used.

I was going to write something last night and instead, left for the night. I am just wondering, the word is a slur, very offensive to most. So when we repeat it in it’s full monty while chiding another is that OK still? IMHO, I say no. For two wrongs can’t make a right.
