Indeed!
thank you chips, as always, for this magnificent blog!
Thanks UT!
I refreshed and this popped up
You guys are doing a GREAT job – thank you very much!!!
Fast and furious
Historical week here and abroad. Thanks to Chips and the mini- blog tyrants we have had a front row seat. Even more excitement coming next week. As I have said other times, we do live in interesting times.
Now that I’ve scrolled through the post – UT you’ve outdone yourself compiling all of this!
What a week, indeed.
Unbelievable.
Unbeatable.
Perfection.
Have Mercy.
Wow, what a week! Thanks for a great summary Chipsticks! All those major events this past week and it doesn’t even include the Obama’s hometown Blackhawks Stanley Cup! I know you all were just dying for me to mention that again lol! https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=stanley+cup+celebration+grant+park&bav=on.2,or.r_qf.&bvm=bv.48572450,d.aWc&biw=1360&bih=643&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&authuser=0&ei=7T_PUa6GFMWdyQGqhYHoDw
FLOTUS looks fantastic in the monochromatic solid blue. I would love to see her wear a monochromatic solid green.
Your gift from me….. since you won’t get to drink beer out of the cup!
LOVE it!!!! I hadn’t seen that photo. Thanks LP. I ran into the goalie Crawford at a restaurant last night but he didn’t have the Cup with him.
This summation of the whole week by Chips reminds me of a Song:
Send Me An Angel………Right now…..Loved that some.
Thank you again, dear Lady.
ok, I’m confused….why….who….put this post together…..UT or Chipsticks?????
Whoever it was – it’s FANTASTIC 😆
Masterful, excellent coverage, none of which I would have had the chance to see without this blog. Thanks, Chips. And Zizi’s most excellent reports on the continent.
This is really what we can say about every historic week in PBO’s presidency, Bob. It’s reported best on TOD. We see more, hear more direct information and therefore know more than most other Americans. It’s an enormous privilege to be part of this community and feel the breadth of knowledge that people here bring from all over the world. No matter how many blog clicks this site rings up, it’s not enough. This is a resource everyone in America should tap at least once a day.
TOD – the best place for news! This really is a labor of love for Chips and all of you helpers. I cannot thank you enough!
A pleasure Judith, thank you!!
Thanks so much for the shout out Chiparoo!
You are moooooooooore than welcome, UT-a-roo – you put SO much in to the blog this week, cannot thank you enough.
And, “Oh what a ‘run’ ” for those trying to catch the TOD travel bus, AND for the bus driver! It’s a wonder you haven’t got a speeding ticket! 😀 😀
Both necessary and trivial to do from a technology perspective. Would bring genuine peer pressure on the WHPC and significantly expand the reach of the President’s message to the American people – daily. Please urge Mr Carney to do it.
Yes We Can
Telepress Conference…….still done by the press secretary…..it could be daily……but opened widely to all the 50 states or if that is too much……dedicate one day of the week to the WHPC and the other 4 days of the week……an open forum where all Journos can pipe in and ask questions based on 1st come, 1st serve.
Technology has made it possible to expand access, widen regional participation and widely spread information….that the BW have selectively suppressed for many years for their selfish consumption.
Absolutely, Nena!! Let’s push for it!!
YES! Brilliant. We need a new form here. and I’ll betcha PBO will go for it.
Sure hope PBO does. It would be transformational.
Yes We Can
Excellent idea!!
Left a response on a previous thread enthusiastically agreeing with your recommendation. Since i don’t twit, I will send an e-mail to the Press Sec./WH in support of your brilliant and very sensible recommendation. These unethical, and sometimes clueless, members of the WHPC, need both exposure and competition.
HelloooOOOOOoooooo everyone, just to alert the blog tyrants, Zizi has a music post lined up for later, so – as she said on Twitter – get yer dancing shoes on. If there’s time, I’ll post something before that.
We all knew that this week was hugely important, but it’s truly remarkable when viewed in a single blog post.
I am so infuriated at our MSM. Jeff Zeleny was a reasonable NYTimes reporter, but now works at ABC (aka Jon Karl network) and get nauseated at his latest tweet:
Of course the media had the same speculations about Bernie Sanders filibuster… NOT.
So sick of the RWNJ misogynistic MSM.
Recall that half the comments to Wendy Davis’ appearance tomorrow on MTP was about “catheters,” the other half about “murdered fetuses.”
Did this Idiot ask the same question of Rand Paul? Did the cablers go Live as they did with Rand Paul while he was on the senate floor? Did any Dem Gov chide Rand Paul and lectured him for his youth or the way he had raised his son who got drunk on a plane ride from KY to NC?
Arapaho, this is just another form of GOP/media obsession with female anatomy. There is no earthly reason why this should be raised. It is her business and hers alone. Yet because she is a woman they must demean her and reduce her to her anatomical parts.
Of I course I agree 100% with you.
The MSM knows that by catering to Tea Party fears/memes they will continue to have jobs.
Someone should inform the MSM head honchos that Congress is in session about 100 days per year, and so they should re-assign at least two-thirds of their political staff to cover things that would actually educate their viewers/readers.
NFL players should balk their bosses and do this for the little people.
NFL players are a Union……they have bargaining rights…..if they conclude that this part of their efforts to help the community, then they would. They sponsor in the United Way for an example. CURE and other projects. So I am watching their actions closely…….even though, I have ZERO power here…. 🙂
Isn’t this similar to the State Senator in Maryland telling a Ravens player not to advocate for gay marriage? It is the Elected Govt officials telling private citizens they can’t speak out for a legal law and how people should sign up for it. This is against the First Amendment and repressing free speech.
nfl commisioner roger goodell is the son of a prominent republican politician, and his wife is the daughter of a prominent republican, and she also used to be a fox “news” on-air person, jane skinner. a lot of republican influence around the nfl top offices, so not a surprise they would attempt to turn healthcare for disadvantaged children into a political “football.” so odd how “the news” and republicans treat the idea of providing care for poor kids as somehow a political game by democrats.
Most NFL owners to whom Goodell answers are as right wing as anyone can be.
Ha, you’re waaaaaaay too kind Africa – and you’ve made my cheeks sizzle!!!! Thank you, you lovely person!
This little oasis has done such a great favor for so many of us. No, THANK YOU!!

I love this blog so much. 🙂
Ditto, GOB. I hope you’re having a good Saturday.
And the blog loves ya back, GB!!! Hope you’re doing well?
I’ve been fed so I’m good, thanks 🙂
Ah, good to hear GB, don’t want you getting hungry on us!
I love the blog, the blog tyrants, all the people who come to the blog to express their thoughts. BLOG LOVE.

Helloooooooooooo Meta!
At Wimbledon, Serena, David Ferrer and Novak D all Got the Win…….Moving on the the 4th round.
Serena won. Good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yep and from what I have read from AP, it was Quick. The headlines, I mean.
When will these bigots learn to get over it…. A black man is president, and SSM is here to stay! Catch up w/ you guys later tonight….
They will get Nothing. No court will hear them…..they have become like Orly Taitz(sp) the queen of birtherism.
At last, the full townhall:
I was about to go prepare Dinner/Supper and there you are stopping Me………I am blaming this on you, madam 😉
There goes my 1.12.03 hours.
ROFLMAO and enjoying every second.
Thank You.
Oooh, don’t want you feeling hungry Nena – eat first!
I went for Cashews nuts and Peanuts, then a Banana with one Apple. And a bottle of water.
I am now sitting and enjoying the Town Hall. Thank you Ms Chips. Thank you.
Nena, we have similar menus.
Serious? 😆 🙄 😆
Shewing carefully, so I don’t choke on my many delicious edible roasted nuts
Chewing……oops.
PBO debunks GOP entire political being.
Hence, their collective dilemma…. 😆
Yep.
So the NFL says No to Obamacare.
What do you expect from those Mitt Romney billionaires who don’t give a dam about the 47% unless they can play football.
For all the “Go Joe” fans:
LOL. Love that Joey Biden’s manners were praised. Mama Biden is smiling from Heaven.
Snowden is asking Greenwald what is next.
That and seeking U.S. opinions. Hmmm Snowden may be sweating. Where to next?
Actually I don’t believe that VP Biden asked Ecuador for any such thing. Ecuador does NOT want Snowden because they realize he is nothing but trouble. They are looking for a way out, and this is what is being reported – either as initiated by Ecuador or the US media, in order to make it seem as though it’s PBO’s administration “doing the wheeling and dealing” as Jake Tapper sarcastically put it.
If you recall, both China and Russia (as reported by BBC & US media) were allegedly asked by the US to return Snowden – and PBO denied any of that happened. So for now I will take this report of VP Biden “asking” with the appropriate amount of salt.
I actually think Snowden is in the International space station, in the Russian module.
Good. Let him stay there and rot, or get roughed up by the aliens…
And mico meteoroids!
🙂
On its own it is interesting where he might be. It has been reported no one has seen him in the Moscow airport so he must have help hiding or he is under some sort of arrest.
Jake Tapper’s assholery continues. Not only does he launch a personal attack on PBO via comments about Snowden, but when called out on it after he cowardly deleted his tweet, he proceeds to get personal with the individual who called him out by making sarcastic remarks about her being part of the “TEAM” whatever the hell that means.
great job by mama4obama! tapper was just doing the usual “take away anything that could be considered positive for the obama admin” that the entire major “news” people do. everything must be tainted with negativity toward president obama, especially during their many successes. it’s an automatic reflex now for people like tapper.
Yes, she did an excellent job – and he got defensive about it because he couldn’t refute her spot-on assessment of his nasty intent.
People like Tapper like to “throw the rock then hide the hand.”
What the hell? What was he talking about??
Snide remark about VP Biden interacting with Ecuador’s President re: Snowden …
What a worthless shilling dick.
HF2,
Thanks for alerting us.
The MSM is truly digging in their heels, letting their masks slip, because our “uppity” President and First Lady. Cool “No Drama” Obama will be their undoing (I’m hoping).
And I hope all of them are out of a job a year from now.
I’m sure Tapper and the rest of his ilk just *HATED* the way POTUS essentially said Snowjob wasn’t worth a jet scramble and they deal with his likes routinely. And I’m sure POTUS knew it would drive them buggy.
President Obama will NOT be rattled by these simpletons, and they hate it. What a sick game their insecurity and resentment makes them play.
(Fallows is a former speechwriter for Jimmy Carter.)
Oh, thanks for this. I was thinking about tweeting, if anyone has heard about Gabby. I have not heard much about or from her since the run up and during the gun control debate.
Fairly certain that Gabby and Mark Kelly will continue their gun safety effort (with their SuperPAC) until legislation is (finally) passed.
But it’s going to take a while since Congress is hardly ever in session.
Hey Jovie, didn’t see your post. Just posted the same thing.
Not quick enough!
🙂
🙂 🙂
Continuing the push to reform the #WHPC ….
Yes We Can
This almost completely off-topic, although our president did mention teachers and the importance of education in the town hall 🙂 I ran across this video posted by a friend on Facebook, and nearly passed it up since I am not a big fan of Tony Danza and did not watch the show where he teaches school for a year. I finally decided to give the video a try and was surprised at how articulate and heart-felt I thought it was. I know there are several other teachers and former teachers here; I think it will lift your day. I especially like the line that he ends with.
That was great! Huge, huge, huge responsibility….thank you fellow teachers past and present! On a perfectly shallow note…he had so many mannerisms like my father. So many. Must be an Italian thing, I don’t know…but he left me smiling:) Thanks, maryl!!!
New post!

Dear Chipsticks, I want to join others here in thanking you for your magnificent coverage of the President’s trip to South Africa. You’ve really outdone your self. Let me also thank your fellow “blog tyrants,” UT, LL, LP, AMK, and ZIZI, for the wonderful job they did in covering this incredible week. Many of us who come to this site a very lucky because we are able to get news and read thoughtful analyses that most Americans are deprived of by the unethical MSM.
You’re lovely Nathkatun, what a kind thing to say. The blog tyrants have been fantastic, some really wonderful stuff from them this week which I know everyone appreciated. I adore these foreign trips because I largely avoid the humdrum news when they’re happening, and feel so much better for it! Looking forward to tomorrow, although the Robben Island visit will be hugely emotional under the circumstances. Thanks again Nathkatun, you’re the best.
Thank you for your kind words, Chips! And again thank you for this blog and for the way you’ve covered all the President’s trips abroad. Americans who know nothing about the TOD never experience the love, respect, and enthusiasm, that foreign countries show President Obama because of the MSM filters. You’ve really created a very special place.
I agree that Robben Island visit will be very emotional. But it will also be a huge reminder, and especially to young people, about the importance of never losing HOPE!
Biggest moment of my life. And I was snoring. Oh, well.
The awardee querulously asks ‘why is the real point of the award in small points?’
