Vicki (from) Canada. I’m actually from central Canada; only ever visited Vancouver years and years and years ago as a member of the Ontario Netball team. Of course there was precious little (read ‘no’) time for sightseeing. We went for a weekend national tournament and that was it.

          Howdy do-di back at ya!

Ooooo – a trio! Can you two sing? I can’t.

      • 9 forus50
        June 27, 2013 at 8:09 pm

No I cannot sing. I got kicked out of the volunteer high school choir lol. How embarrassing.

        • 10 vcprezofan2
          June 27, 2013 at 8:23 pm

Hey, maybe we can sing together after all – I can’t sing either! ๐Ÿ˜† And what is even more affirming for *me* is that you are the second TODobot who has admitted a similar response re the music (singing) programme in high school. I cannot remember now who the other person is, but i feel better knowing I was not, as I feared, the only person the music teacher ‘picked on’ re singing. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE TEACHERS AS CHOIR MASTERS/MISTRESSES????? I mean if she had only worked with me, who is to say I wouldn’t have become an earlier Bieber? ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜‰ Ah well, the world doesn’t know what it has missed.

          • June 27, 2013 at 9:08 pm

The world thanks you for sparing us another Bieber from Canada. We can only handle one, and barely… ๐Ÿ™‚

              June 27, 2013 at 9:40 pm

Humphfff! Consider – Had that music teacher been more proactive, more prescient, more encouraging, **I** might have been the ‘one’! And you have to admit that I come with a bit more tact than the current Bieber. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    AP

WASHINGTON โ€” The Senate has confirmed Alison Macfarlane for a new term as chairwoman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Macfarlane, a geologist, has led the commission since last year.

She said in a statement that she was honored to be nominated for a full five-year term as chairwoman and grateful for the Senate vote Thursday night to confirm her. She pledged to make the commission transparent and open to public engagement.

Macfarlane has sparred with Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer of California over access to commission documents related to the San Onofre nuclear plant in California. The plan’s operator said earlier this month that it will shut down operations after a series of problems.

Wait a minute, what about the dinner part of the evening? You mean I got all (mentally) dressed up for nothing? Good thing I hadn’t put on any makeup or gone to the hairdresser’s or anything like THAT!

I love good drumming – any kind of drums! I actually told my son when I die to have a particular drummer ‘drum me home’.

Perhaps it’s just my imagination, but I could almost swear that since zizi wrote that TOD post about Africa and specifically called out certain media outlets (and reporters) by name, that the MSM has been reporting & tweeting mostly positive and/neutral stuff about PBO’s Africa visit.

I definitely detect a difference beginning early today compared to the day they traveled and prior. Maybe it’s just my wishful thinking, but I’m not sure about that.

All Nancy has to do is keep her caucus in tact (are there any known liebermanna in the house?) and get some two dozen repubs on her side.

Someone mentioned in previous thread that Obama and Nancy would not mind this bill failing in the house so that the dems can make it a campaign issue in 2014. No, you campaign on how you won the issue, not on how the thugs kept obstructing. The bill will pass given the contractor boondoggle in it.

Chris Hayes is complaining that people are being mean to Greenwald and not to Barbara Starr of CNN. He says Greenwald has given no more classified information than Barbara Starr has given reporting from the Pentagon. He has gone off the rails defending Greenwald. MSNBC needs to step in.

I may be a little bit crazy, but I loved the video of the President’s arrival and being greeted by President Sall……because the commentary was in French, and I love to listen to French!
I am so reminded of my several Senegalese students watching these scenes today. Each one of them is tall, graceful, unfailingly polite, and speaks beautiful French.
I so admire my students who come from other countries. I know I could not go to a French, or Spanish, or German, or Arabic, or Portuguese, or Haitian Creole……or any other school and take classes, and write exams, and do as well as these students do! They never cease to amaze me, and yes, I’ve had students of every language I mentioned above. In fact, most of them are trilingual, not just bilingual.

        • June 27, 2013 at 9:11 pm

          Yep, hf.

Ecuador is a very dangerous place if you have an opinion contrary to the government. Other than Cuba, it is the most repressive of human rights in the region. Those Paulistas and Kostwerps only show their total ignorance regarding oppression of human rights as they bleat about Ecuador.

You are so right, Bobfr! My nephew, a law professor, who sits on the Board of Human Rights Watch, was not impressed with Snowden’s choice of countries, except for Iceland, where he is trying to seek Asylum. As far as he is concerned, they are all (including Ecuador) notorious for their violations of privacy and human rights.
