Great clip, and truly expressive of Glenn Greenwald. I can’t believe he’s saying this about the guy who was his hero/martyr a day ago.

    Congrats on 1st, LadyTNT!! 🙂

LL, it was that tweet by Charles Johnson that inspired the one I posted at the bottom of the previous thread ….

… and, yes, without any doubt, the safest place for Edward Snowden is sitting at a table plea bargaining with a US prosecutor.

    Repost
The Senate will vote on the nomination of Charlotte, N.C., Mayor Anthony Foxx (D) to be Transportation secretary this week — really this time.

After a weeks-long guessing game about when that vote might take place, the upper chamber will count the yays and nays this week on President Obama’s nomination of Foxx for sure. The Charlotte mayor has been nominated to replace outgoing Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood.

A Senate Democratic aide confirmed to The Hill that Democrats and Republicans in the upper chamber had reached an agreement to move forward on President Obama’s nominations of Foxx and Penny Pritzker to be Commerce Secretary.

fun fact: greenwald’s most famous client (glenn of course lost the case spectacularly), white supremacist matthew hale, shares a home with one of the most damaging spies in american history, robert hanssen – the super, supermax in florence, CO.

oh no reason i’m bringing that up in regard to snowdenwald…no, none at all… 😉

Anyone watch opening statements today in Zimmerman’s trial. I got through the State opening arguement. My heart is so broken I can’t imagine Trayvons parents listening to it.

      June 24, 2013 at 9:50 pm

I’m going to have to skip this trial. My sister-in-law and I were saying how we don’t want to watch the entire trial just to see Zimmerman walk off scott free. I pray that his parents find peace no matter what the verdict. So hard to have lost their son and now have to deal with all this publicity. I’m glad that at the very least Zimmerman must face trial because at one point it seemed as if he wasn’t even going to be arrested.

      • June 24, 2013 at 9:55 pm

I hadn’t read any more about it after the initial couple of weeks because I didn’t know what was true or not. So hearing the prosecutor lay out the case I’m surprised at how much more evidence there might be than I had known. GZ is a tub of lard. He didn’t look too innocent to me sitting there.

        • June 24, 2013 at 10:06 pm

I watched it and let me tell you, Zimmerman’s attorneys are JUNK. Their opening statement was absolutely pathetic – a stupid joke, meandering points strung out, inappropriate argument that was sustained by the judge several times, flat delivery —– well, you get the picture.

I will probably continue to watch because I don’t know all the details of the case. But at this point very early on, I wouldn’t count on the prosecution losing.

          • June 24, 2013 at 10:10 pm

I hope you’re right. I had heard that the defense was pitiful. I just haven’t listened to it yet.

          • June 24, 2013 at 11:22 pm

            Meta…

What kind of impact will there be by having an all female jury that does not include blk folks…

            • June 24, 2013 at 11:32 pm

That’s the $64,000 question. I didn’t watch the jury selection so I don’t know much about the actual make-up of the jury. But if today is any measure, the prosecution is ready to prosecute. Of course, anything can and will happen.

The prosecution came right out of the gate blazing for a WIN. I was just blown away by how poorly prepared and presented the defense opening argument was. The attorney was reprimanded/corrected several times by the judge for inappropriate statements.

        June 24, 2013 at 9:59 pm

Amen. My thoughts exactly. The judge should really have placed a gag order pretrial and during the trial as the Zimmermans are awful people and getting way too much time in the media. Hoping the trial is over quickly and the verdict is justice for Travon’s family.

This is a tough game to watch. The Blackhawks are all speed but because it was so hot in Boston today the ice is soft so the Blackhawks look like they are skating in mud. Surprisingly it’s a tie game 1-1 in the 2nd. Not feeling good about Chicago prospects though…

    • June 24, 2013 at 9:56 pm

Are the still in the 2nd Forus? Not near the TV…….update when you can, TY.

The second just ended THANK YOU JESUS! 🙂 I don’t know why I look forward to these games as I’m just a miserable mess watching it. I guess similar to a Barack Obama presidential debate lol. The slow ice is throwing off both teams but more so for the Blackhawks passing game imho. Still tied 1-1. Will update in the third.

Scratch that my phone screen didnt display the text about your tweet! 1-1 in the 2nd…..

Hope you have all read Spandan’s essay at TPV …

    Have just posted this comment:

On 10 June 2013 when Glenn’s megalomania was in high gear he divulged his timeline of interactions with Snowden.

That’s it. His megalomania is the noose that is now tightening around his neck.

He was interacting with Snowden before Snowden even began his spying on the NSA via the Booz Allen Hawaii op site.

Without doubt, not only Greenwald, but anyone involved in how Snowden got that job, are under investigation.

Greenwald is not dumb; he’s just addled by his megalomania. His best plea will be insanity.

As for Snowden, his best hope for extending his life is to be plea bargaining with a US prosecutor, real soon now.

Because the folk who have been paying him and enabling his treacherous stint of treason have obvious good reason to see him swimming with the fishes real soon now.

Who wins that race is the end of this tragic story of a megalomaniac and a traitor to endanger the lives of Americans and others – because we do live in a more dangerous world because of what Snowden and his enablers have done.

    Excellent essay, as always, Spandan.

The IRS did not discriminate in their targeting. That much is clear. However because many surface “liberal” groups were front groups for conservative orgs, the end result probably meant that more conservative funding sources were audited than true liberal funding sources. The problem is that these groups cannot now claim to be conservative when they were designed to fool people about their agenda.
