And yet the Media is Stuck on STUPID in their biased way of reporting…..citing 200K plus crowd in July of 2008 as a senator and a Dem Nominee to 2013 when venue and Climate are totally different……Mr POTUS was there in Germany.

Beautiful family I love that expression on Sasha’s face

    • 19 vcprezofan2
      June 19, 2013 at 10:49 am

I absolutely love Sasha’s expressions! I think she has a very expressive face, and though I know I’m reading my own messages there, at times I think her face shows a healthy skepticism of those around – especially when it’s MSM types. You be you, Sasha my girl! 😀

        June 19, 2013 at 6:42 pm

LOL! She should be skeptical of the MSM 🙂

However, I believe that in most instances her expressions are actually NOT reflective of skepticism – it’s just intense concentration with the typical 11-yr old (lack of) self-consciousness about her facial expressions. I know – because when I was around her age, I would make similar facial grimaces when deeply engaged (and would be called out on it by adults, etc) not realizing how I actually looked!!!

Just a thought re MSM….their viewership is quite low vs the millions of Americans. Are local stations informing the people without any bias, are they covering PBO’s trips.. I get frustrated at how frustrated we all get re MSM’s hatred for this President but PBO has millions and millions of supporters. They must be getting their info somewhere..probably on line…Whenever I hear the “media” bashing the President, I think of this. Their audience is very small!

    • 23 Nena20409
      June 19, 2013 at 10:34 am

Their audience is small, however, they set and drive the narrative…..many of these National TV/Cable outlets have local stations as well….they also have the control of many papers.

That is why change is imperative……it took TBGOPers 40 yrs to change the Media we have today. But with the new Technology, 40 yrs is not that hard to overcome.

Listening to NPR this morning while getting dressed as always. Until I started really paying attention I thought PBS was miles apart from the rest of the MSM in a balanced approach and in informative factual reporting. Wrong! I do still think they are better, but do not think they go out of their way to dig into the facts. They are led by the current scandal screaming set by the GOP too. This morning was the first time I heard anything about Liberal groups having to wait for further scrutiny by the IRS too. We have known about that for at least 2 weeks. So they wait and go with the pack intellect instead of digging for the entire story. Maybe reporter laziness is part of the story.

It’s the politically involved that really get affected by the msm/cable noise either way. A big majority tune in just a week or two before elections and the rest don’t give a shite.

One thing that piss me off is how the media want to make a story out of the security for this family. I want FLOTUS, Malia, Sasha, and POTUS to have the best, I mean the best of security. And no it ain’t cheap, just like it wasn’t cheap for G.W and Laura, for Bill and Hillary, for George and Barbara, for Ronnie and Nancy.

If you follow Utal’s link to a ‘short video’ you will find a video that talks about FLOTUS on the upper right. It’s an old (’08) vid but it has lots of English compliments (interspersed with the German) for our FLOTUS, and it’s only 2+ mins! I tried to copy and paste here but when checked it first only the sound could be heard, no visuals. Hopefully that won’t happen if you go there directly.

Thank you, Ms Utal! You do good work!

Another side to the Syria scenario?

BEIRUT,— Taking advantage of the chaos of the civil war, Syria’s Kurdish minority has carved out a once unthinkable degree of independence in their areas, creating their own police forces, even their own license plates, and exuberantly going public with their language and culture.

But by pursuing their own path distinct from both the opposition and the regime, they are also colliding with Sunni rebels, who have increasingly clashed with Kurdish militiamen. Rebels have besieged a pocket of Kurdish towns and villages in the mainly Sunni Arab corner of northwest Syria for weeks, leading to reports of shortages of food and medicine.

The fighting threatens to expand into an ethnic war between Kurds and Arabs, adding another layer to the potent mix of fighters and conflicts in a brutal civil war that, according to the United Nations, has already killed 93,000 people. The ethnic tensions come on top of virulent sectarian hatreds between pro-rebel Sunnis and pro-regime Alawites and Shiites that have spiraled amid the fight for power.

Kurds are the largest ethnic minority in Syria, making up more than 10 percent of the country’s 23 million people.

One reason I get irritated when those who are not as informed as the President presume to dictate how he should proceed. At those times I remember Bobfr’s regular refrain – #TrustBarack.

Ever notice the loony left joins the wingers in beating the war drums to get involved in any war, whether it is ME or Bosnia or Africa – though for opposite ‘humanitarian’ reasons – and then bitch and moan when those wars, they egged on, don’t go as ‘planned’ ?

PBO’s speech today about perpetual war mentality should change is a shot at both extremes. If you looked honestly, the last war that US really won was WWII. Rest were all miserable failures or fuck ups.

Bill Clinton and Robert Rubin repealed Glass-Stegall. That was the real start and cause of the Crash.

GWBush was there for the economic disaster that resulted.

Malia and Sasha have had quite an intense trip. They’ve seen and experienced quite a lot in just three days!

This day in Germany looks intense with the dark history they’re absorbing. This trip will take quite a while to process. A trip to Germany takes quite a while for an adult to process. I’ve been three times: in 1983 with my mother, while it was still East and West Germany, in 1990 to visit our son who was stationed in West Germany, in March after the wall came down, then last summer with friends.

Those three visits were very different. In 1983 we thought the division of East and West would be forever, and didn’t question it. In 1990, the West Germans were worrying about how to assimilate all the Easterners coming over. We saw East German Trabants (their pitiful sewing machine cars) abandoned alongside the autobahns. As our son was in the U.S. Army and wasn’t allowed to go to Berlin yet, we didn’t go. That visit we stayed in U.S. Armed Forces hotels part of the time, and saw the wonderful recreational facilities the U.S. had. Now most of them have gone back to the Germans.

Last year, the politics were settled, and Germany, at least Munich, has a large influx of immigrants and also tourists…..everywhere. We visited Dachau both with our son in 1990 and last summer. In 1990 it seemed a small place with not many visitors. Last summer it had expanded and was filled with tourists.

I can’t help feeling the weight of the history every time I visit Germany, in a different way from other European countries. It’s hard to explain, but it’s more intense than other places.

I’m so glad the President and his family took this trip. Germany needed the reassurance of a Presidential state visit, from this president. They despised Bush. As did all of Europe.

I thought his speech was perfect. He hit all the right subjects in just the right tone. Peace with Justice is a strong theme to build on.
