Thanks hopefruit! This is a big surprise for me. I am usually one of the last people. I was just finishing reading and viewing all today’s coverage when I noticed UT had another post for us night owls.
Hey brother, I finally made it to the top. By the way, I feel so good because on Sunday I attended my grand niece graduation from U.C. Davis. She received B.Sc. degree in Biochemistry technology. She is the first woman in my family to earn a degree in a scientific field. We are all so proud of her.
Cool. My old classmate recently retire from SF State as a Prof of Biochem. Dr. John Watson. Google him. It’s impressive.
If you’re up for a while I’ll see if I can grab a “dusty” or two. Let me know. 🙂
I certainly will be up for a while, yardarm. So don’t hesitate to share some info. I will also google Dr. Watson. May be my grand niece can hook up with him. She is planning to go to graduate school.
Thanks Betsy! UC Davis is indeed a great school. I was so impressed by the fact that almost half of the graduates in her school were women. Also, the Chancellor and the Dean of her school were women. It’s so refreshing to see such refreshing social changes taking place in our country. More and more women are pursuing degrees and careers in scientific fields.
Outstanding coverage from ut and Chips and LP of the First Family’s trip. Thank you so much for all the work you all put into it. Very much appreciated! Chocolate for everyone!!
Yes Indeed Meta. They were all superb! I am so grateful that we have TOD because the MSM are not at all interested in thoroughly covering President Obama’s trips abroad. It’s as if they don’t want the American people to see how well the President and his family are received abroad.
What meta said. Thank you so much Chips, UT, and LP. TOD coverage of Ireland and Germany was just spectacular. Nobody does it better. It was the next best thing to being there. I really enjoyed the fabulous photos, fascinating commentary, great links, awesome tweets and amazing videos. It has been a delight to keep up with all of the activities of our amazing first family. Thanks again for all of your hard work. You really know how to make us feel special.
Yes, wonderful, wonderful coverage, I was glued to my laptop following their every step. How proud I am of the First Family, especially of the girls. Worried, though, about Syria. Wishing every best luck to President Obama to help the leaders of the free world to come to some consensus on solutions.
But heavens, Putin’s sullen and even angry face throughout the two days hardly looks like solutions will be easy to come by. His grumpy face was almost funny.
Thank you to everyone who helped make these two days so absolutely wonderful for The Obama Diary and — especially, for me!
Thanks for asking Chips, but it’s really taking forever. If I had to break a hip I should have done it ten or twenty years ago when my bones were a little less brittle.
Thanks LP! Thanks also for sharing the unveiling of Frederick Douglass’ statue. Frederick Douglass is one of my heroes. He spent more than half a century fighting for freedom and equality of all people, irrespective of race or gender. I am so glad to see that he is finally honored.
My pleasure, I was specifically thinking of you, JB, Yardarm and some of our “Greatest generation” TOD family……and wanted to make sure this important ceremony didn’t get lost in the news.
Thank you for thinking of us oldies, LP. You and your colleagues are doing amazing work at TOD helping the great Chipsticks out. I am just so impressed with young people like you and UT. You are so wise beyond your age.
This is wonderful! Never would’ve thought I’d see the day when MLK, Rosa Parks, Sojourner Truth, and Frederick Douglass were celebrated this way in the U.S. Capitol. #FORWARD we move!!
The FBI launched an investigation into Crawford last spring after he allegedly walked into a synagogue in Albany, N.Y., and inquired about technology that could kill “Israel’s enemies while they slept.” The synagogue notified police, and within six weeks the FBI had a source secretly recording meetings with Crawford, according an FBI affidavit filed in the case.
In a June 2012 conversation, Crawford – described by the FBI as a member of the Ku Klux Klan – called his design “Hiroshima on a light switch,” the affidavit said. And in August 2012, Crawford allegedly asked a high-ranking official in the KKK for money to fund his plot. The KKK official informed the FBI, and within weeks two undercover agents posing as KKK members were introduced to Crawford.
Over the next several months, Crawford conducted extensive research for the design, at times expressing frustration over the slow pace of the team’s progress, the FBI affidavit indicated. Ultimately, with help from the undercover agents, Crawford and Feight acquired the necessary parts and even tested the device that would remotely detonate the weapon, according to the FBI. It would all be powered through a truck’s cigarette lighter, the FBI said.
This President accomplishes a lot while being very subtle about it. The fact that we didn’t have wall to wall coverage of that summit in California is embarrassing, especially when a lot of the future depends on the relationship between these two countries. We’ll be learning of developments that started over that weekend for years to come, I’m sure.
They( the 1%..better know as” the powers that be”) were not able to destroy the President with RWNJs so now they seek to discredit him with fake scandals…LWNJs know as emprogs…and using the left’s paranoia of distrust in government…,,to drive a wedge ….
For those with expired Yahoo mailboxes (which includes me; my account became inactive and you have to pay Yahoo to reinstate… unless someone knows how to workaround Yahoo’s reinstate fee???)

Wish the MSM would explore why it is that Congress gets away with voting AGAINST constituent wishes. That should be their job, not bashing our President while he’s overseas representing our country:
I’m just sorry POTUS and FLOTUS weren’t able to keep the safari . Malia and Sasha must be going to came. And when will POTUS and FLOTUS be back from Africa. July 4th is Malia’s 15th birthday.
Quite a few folk with access to broadcast spectrum, the Internet, and bigbox store supplies of tin foil should instead have comprehensive access to mental health professionals and appropriate medication …
If Reagan hadn't forsaken the mentally ill, folk claiming Hastings was killed by the Gov would instead be receiving proper care. #TinFoilHat
Chips and UT, thanks again for the time dedicated to providing a blow-by-blow account of PBO’s trip…,what an exquisite and unforgettable treat. Y’all are amazing!
Great coverage BT’s. You know what’s unique about all this? Every other news agency that I reluctantly peruse on TV failed to bring the same level of coverage and awareness to people who real love the Obama family and are interested in what they are doing.
Can you tweeters pass this on?? I can’t imagine the fear…

The so called “left” is amusingly infantile. If President Obama is such a totalitarian, how come the left is out trashing him without any fear of being suppressed? How many members of the left have been imprisoned, or persecuted, by President Obama? How many members of the left have been prevented from publishing FALSE and incendiary attacks on President Obama? How many leftists are in prison because they aggressively oppose, and constantly trash, President Obama? The last time I checked Michael Moore is still a millionaire. Glenn Greenwald is still a darling of the media. Sens Bernie Sanders and Jeff Markley are still in the Senate. Rachel Maddow and Chris Hayes are still broadcasting on MSNBC. So, how in the world, would a sane person argue that Obama has imposed a totalitarian government in America? I am so sick of the hyperbole, about the loss of freedom, from both the right and the left. I have yet to see any one, from the right or the left, concretely demonstrate how his/her life has changed under the “totalitarian” President Obama.
Thanks Dudette! I am beyond sick reading and listening to these right wingers and the “holier than thou leftists” who are openly trashing President Obama, accusing him of being a “totalitarian,” when none of them have suffered any personal infringement of their rights.
North Carolina’s governor, hoping to resume executions in his state, on Wednesday signed the repeal of a law that has allowed death row inmates to seek a reduced sentence if they could prove racial bias affected their punishment.
The Racial Justice Act, the only law of its kind in the United States, had led to four inmates getting their sentences changed to life in prison without parole after taking effect in 2009.
Supporters said the historic measure addressed the state’s long record of racial injustice in its capital punishment system, while critics said it caused unnecessary costs and delays after nearly all death-row inmates, including whites, sought relief under the act.
Governor Pat McCrory, a Republican, said repealing the law would remove the “procedural roadblocks” that had kept North Carolina from executing anyone since 2006 despite there being 152 people on death row.
But what I’m talking about is, when we get on a major bill like this, and members work hard to build support and to get bipartisan support, our amendments that are noncontroversial should go first,” Landrieu said. “But, that’s not what happens around here. What happens around here is the guys that cause all the trouble all the time on every bill … I don’t want to name their names because it’s not appropriate, but there’s a group on the other side and few maybe on our side. They’re never really happy with anything, and so they file tons of amendments and we spend all of our time worrying about their amendments, and those of us that spend a lot of our time building bipartisan support, that offer amendments that have no opposition, actually never get to those amendments.”

Landrieu is calling attention to how the Senate is broken….she is also calling attention to the fact that Harry Reid and not her should be raising these issues…notice how she says that there are Senators who are not happy with any bill…and block everything…
Well, well yardarm taking us oldies back to them days. What a beautiful car! My first car, which I bought in 1968, for $200.00, was a 1956/57, Chevy Impala. My friends nicknamed it the Jumbo Jet! That was one huge car with wings.
Indeed! Driving those cars made you feel like you are on top of the world! I remember my Chevy Impala being able to accommodate 7 people (three in the front seat and four in the back seat).
Thank you so much yardarm for sharing this great music! I actually think I have most LP albums of Lou Donaldson! May be I am biased, but these Jazz musicians communicated so much about life, with their instruments, without saying a single word.
Thank you so much UT for your superb coverage of the president in Germany.
Congrats nath on #1! 🙂

Congrats, although I’m a bit late!
Whoa, congrats fellow SoCalifornian!
I think you’re like me… I don’t get premium cable, so any discussion of HBO or Showtime shows mean zero to me.
But it’s very sad that Gandolfino is gone at 51. That’s a year less than our President’s mother had on this earth.
Thanks Arapaho! Iam so sorry to hear about the sad news about Gandolfino! May he R.I.P.
Thanks Nath!
Get ’em Dude. 😀

They don’t seem to want to cover his presidency at all. Just made up lies and controversies. It’s really beyond absurd.
Hard to believe but undoubtably true, Meta
Truth!
You are absolutely right, Meta!

According to its website, North Korean officials said they wanted to “peacefully resolve the nuclear issue”.

No they are returning to the US, and then PBO & FLOTUS (not the girls) will leave for Africa in a few days.
They are scheduled to arrive around 12:40 AM.

Do Donna Brazlie want to blame POTUS for this too?.
It’s coming. Trust me if this goes down, everybody will blame the President.
