“A vast majority of this bullshit would go away if we re-instate Selective Service.”

Yardarm, you are absolutely spot-on. I would like, for example, to see that racist son of the Senator from Arizona drafted after he turns eighteen. I am so sick of people who think that going to war is a game so long as their families don’t have to sacrifice anything. If a universal draft were to be instituted, sons and daughters of Congressmen would be subject to the draft. I am absolutely certain that if the draft was re-instated members of Congress with Children old enough to be drafted would change their stance about wars.

I made my long comment on PBO’s interview with Charlie Rose at the end of the last thread, so all I will say here is….Watch it! It is excellent! Charlie asks good probing questions, and PBO gives great, thoughtful, explanatory answers. Once again you will be so glad this man is president and no one else. As I said previously, yes he is President of the United States, but he is also president of the world.

I am so glad we elected this mature, no nonsense, President who thinks through every decision he makes. John McCain is not the President, which means that he is not privy to the information President Obama has to constantly assess. As for Bill Clinton, I am so thoroughly disgusted by his comments. Of all the people, President Clinton should know better not to criticize a sitting President when he is not privy to the information that President Obama is constantly evaluating before making decisions; and especially the monumental decisions that involves going to war.

    Evening Obots!

A couple of bits from BBC World.

    1) Putin might be talking a big game re: Syria, but he doesn’t want to be seen as a spoiler. He won’t go to the mat for Assad. So expect Assad to slowly loose his Russian sugar daddy.

    2) Some have speculated that Snowden’s revelations were timed in part to scupper the Swiss parliament passing laws to increase transparency and expose tax cheats. Well, if that’s the case, Snowden and his handlers grossly miscalculated their power. The thing the Swiss fear the most is a DOJ indictment of its banks. The last time that an indictment was handed down, its oldest bank folded with alacrity. They will do whatever they have to do to avoid that happening.

Phew, okay I found it! I commented earlier today about POTUS’ swagger as he was greeted by UK PM David Cameron during the G8 Formal Arrivals.

It’s kinda tough to get to but here ya go. It’s in the middle of this 16 hr-long G8 Summit Livestream video

    Formal arrivals start at 8:58:35
    Putin comes in around 9:10
POTUS comes in at 9:11:40 [Squeeeeeee!]

It broke my heart. It really does make a big difference when you hear the real stories of real human beings, and it stops just being a philosophical argument. I can’t imagine people coming to my door in the middle of the night to collect me, handcuff me to a chair for ten hours, and then put me on a bus to drop me off at a border town where I have no means of survival. And they do this to kids, too!

What a lot of talent this country is missing out on. A potential doctor. A math wizard. An exemplary military man. I can understand the argument of people who think it’s unfair for others who did things the right way and are waiting years, and I can also understand the arguments of people who might be missing out on opportunities that go to those who are hear illegally, like scholarships, positions in University, etc. I have friends who have made those arguments to me. But, there’s a point where we have to see the human beings, and their potential to participate in life and society. They are here. The dreamers were brought here as children, and they deserve a chance to make things right, and live a normal life.

This video broke my heart. But it was also encouraging. They’ve fought to be heard just like many before them. And they seem to be succeeding. And the fact that Barack Obama has his name attached to it, and even owns up to the implied criticism of a broken promise, given that he’s lumped in with all the President’s that came before him promising to do something about immigration – it made me believe something is going to happen this time.

I can’t imagine how the people of Syria would feel reading that headline, when they are suffering such atrocities. I don’t necessarily think that nobody wants to get involved in Syria, they just want to do it the right way. And that’s not easy.

Didn’t Clinton brag about his “peace” initiatives during and after he was president? Now he wants President Obama to start wars. Well, actually, he could not care less about any of this – just trying to make President Obama look bad and find a new “friend” in McCain. I’m beginning to think those two would make quite the pair.

I don’t mind Joe Biden’s calling McCain “my friend,” because he’ll use that to his advantage. He’ll also call out “my friend John McCain,” when necessary.

But Clinton’s in it to make himself the issue … I guess he’s noticed over time that McCain is the media darling du jour. Or du week. Whatever.

What ho Peeps & Night Owls of TOD. Fan-effing-tastic coverage of the First Family’s trip abroad.. But then again I expect nothing but exemplary coverage from Miz Chips and the blog tyrants wherever our illustrious Prez and/or our beautiful First Lady and First Daughters travels. And y’all NEVAH EVAH disappoint. THANK YOU. This evening I learned that instead of the tired and played out “Whassup?”, I can now say “What’s the craic ??? 🙂 I needz me a t-shirt that says that! Brought a huge grin to my face when our illustrious Prez dropped that during his speech today, along with the rousing reception he got for saying it, and then chuckled and gave that big grin. afterwards. WE ARE OUR OWN MEDIA THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Thank you also Miz Chips for posting the Dream is Now documentary. OFA is hosting the Dream is Now watch parties this week all across the country and there is one happening this Thursday at my very own neighborhood branch of the Los Angeles Public Library in Silverlake. Woot! OFA has got all kinds of stuff planned for this summer; particularly August when the Congress critters take yet another recess from NOT doing their jobs in DC and return to their respective Districts. I think What is Working said this on an earlier post, but if you’ve got a little bit of time and/or ducets, consider volunteering/donating to OFA. Go to barackobama.com to get involved. It really does help (at least for me) keep me focused on what’s really important, and the work that needs to be done along withblocking all the noise /propaganda
distractions thats being passed off as “news” these days by the spewing hyperventilating lamestream MEE-DEE-YA cesspoot.

Off to watch the speeches today by our awesome POTUS and FLOTUS and catch up on the rest of day’s events from today’s threads. Fais de beaux rêves peeps! #PinkSlipTheGOP2014 !

Not sure if this story was posted earlier, but this excerpt is delightful:

Obama’s Irish ancestry highlighted during first family’s visit to Trinity

Ms Fitzsimons showed the family tree to the Obamas. “It’s a family history that goes back a very, very long way,” she said afterwards. “We can actually say more, with absolute certainty, about the Irish ancestry of the Obamas than we can for figures like JFK or Ronald Reagan or even Bill Clinton.” She said the teenage girls were absolutely delightful. “The girls are obviously very close to their mum. They were asking loads of questions.”

    • 88 anniebella
      June 18, 2013 at 5:15 am

Yes there is talk of how nice our President looks, and our First Lady too, but in listening to Ms. Fitzsimons speak about Malia and Sasha, I am sure that is what both POTUS and FLOTUS would be the most proud of, in the end that is what matter the most. To know that FLOTUS and POTUS is doing a wonderful job with raising their daughters.

Awww, it turns out Sylvia Gordon, the woman POTUS mentioned in his speech was there, but he couldn’t see her, because she was so far in the back! See article and video below…

NI woman ‘humbled’ by Obama tribute

“At the city’s Waterfront Hall, the US President spoke directly about the work done by Sylvia Gordon and her colleagues to have a gate put into a peace wall in a park in north Belfast.

Alexandra Park is thought to be the only park in Europe that has been divided by a wall. But in September 2011, more than 15 years after the barrier first went up, a gate was opened in the three-metre tall fence, allowing people to explore the entire area

Ms Gordon is director of Groundwork NI, which worked alongside the Alexandra Park Steering Group and local residents and community groups to enable the regeneration of the area.

On Monday, in front of hundreds of people, Mr Obama commended Ms Gordon for her part in the so-called peace gate… [more in the article]

out of curiosity, just went to cnn’s web site and there isn’t one mention of the NORTHERN IRELAND trip by our president. not even the text-only headlines on the side of the front page. the big feature is jimmy hoffa, and there’s stuff about their doctored polls (which are based on their doctored “reporting” in recent weeks), and even something about a man “driving” a sofa down the highway. those and many more like them are all on the cnn frontpage right now. we’re talking northern ireland….president of the united states at the G8 summit…meeting with Russia’s president and british p.m. and so on….nothing, zero, zilch.

if anyone still questions the republican propaganda role of the entire major u.s. media, hopefully this will answer any remaining questions. they do not care about ratings or being an important part of our democracy…their only role today is to keep liberals out of office.

First, thanks for all of the brilliant and hardwork that you do for all of us, my Chips. This has been a glorious day. I had to step away to make a belated Father’s Day greeting to my beautiful first born niece and her husband, after all they brought into this lovely space of our family, my first great niece, their daughter who is also my pride and joy. We ended up talking for six hours, and it was so wonderful. I do not get to speak with them as often as with her sister, my second born beautiful niece who lives a little closer. But it was so wonderful to connect with them tonight.

Because of the length of our conversation,(six hours); I was not able to keep up in my time the wonderful conversation here with my TOD family, so it is 1:51AM here, and I just finished reading through all of the Great Work that my precious and beautiful Chips provided for us throughout this day.

I love our President and he will not disappoint us in his “He’s The Real Deal And Always Has Been.” Thank you Bobfr!!!! That I know for a fact, and I will leave it there. (((((( My heart is full because I know that the man that we re-elected as our 44th President will not let us down.))))))))

His brilliant conversation with Charlie Rose was so elegant and refreshing. We Made the Right Man Our 44th President.
Good night to all, and thank you all for this beautiful experience with our beautiful First Family today. What a joy for all of the young people who will carry a beautiful hopefulness of Peace to come from their generation and touch the entire world because of President Barack H. Obama.

Thank you UT, and my angel, Chips. (((((( I love you all so much for all of the information sharing.)))))))) May grace be upon us to rise tomorrow to many wonderful joys full of blessings. Goodnight, and Good Morning to my TOD family
