People think the NSA is the big bad wolf. Oh no. It’s the conservative bloc of the SCOTUS. They’re steadily eroding rights. This is insane and a must read so you know the new rules.

I’ve been watching British procedurals on YouTube (crime dramas) and they give them their rights the same way over and over. What’s different is that they say something about it can be used against you i if you fail to mention when questioned something that you then rely upon in court. Maybe I got the wording mixed up but it is definitely about silence coming back to bite you.

I will bet that PBO was missing. Mediev at that moment. The two got along well and seemed to enjoy their many talks. They had good chemistry. Putin is so yesterday with his Cold War mentality.

Although I think that PBO enjoys the mental jousting and sparring. He’s smarter than any of them, and will lead them on to say things they don’t want to say. Putin will never get the better of PBO…..if he thinks he will, he is living in denial. Medviev was a friendlier person who could smile. Putin can’t…..he takes himself very seriously, but does not think up to the level of PBO at all.

Putin treated the bush family cabal much differently. gee, wonder why?

    http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=11650470
Presidents Bush and Putin met Monday in Kennebunkport, Maine, in hopes of repairing U.S.-Russia relations, which have been strained in recent months over White House plans to install a missile shield in Europe and NATO expansion.

It was all handshakes, smiles and kisses when Putin arrived at the Bush family estate that overlooks the rocky Atlantic seacoast.

Putin gave pecks on the cheeks to first lady Laura Bush and the president’s mother, Barbara Bush, and handed them bouquets of flowers. Before disappearing from public view, Putin was seen aboard former President George H.W. Bush’s speedboat, zooming along the coastline, grinning and waving to photographers.

“I’m very grateful to the Bush family for this very warm, cozy atmosphere around this meeting, and we appreciate it very much,” Putin said. “I do believe that we have to learn something from the older generation.”

    photo here.

i think there is a cabal of world “leaders” who purposely try to keep trouble brewing in the world, since they know they can control people with fear that way, and profit from the industries they (more accurately their fathers and grandfathers) invested in. putin and his friends the bush family and so on are mad that president obama has disrupted their schemes.

Ben handled it with humor and mentioned that this was during the Bush Admin. Then of course, there was the “color” question about what was the attitude/atmosphere of the meeting. Did she really think that Ben and Jay were such rookies or were so unprofessional that they would actually answer such a gossipy question? After she finally shut up (had 3 questions), the rest were, surprisingly, about what they were actually there for. The feed froze about half-way through, so I do not know if they got silly after that.

    A Catalogue of Journalistic Malfeasance

    By Joshua Foust

    ————————————

So what’s the solution? For one, stop assuming the first version of the “facts” is correct. So much of the initial round of NSA reporting has turned out to be false or misleading that it’s a wonder such misreporting hasn’t become its own scandal. The speed with which false information propagates in the public (and worse, in commentaries) is dismaying to those of us who’d prefer public debates be based in fact rather than fiction.

Yet so long as breaking news dominates the coverage, there will continue to be frenzied periods of rushed reporting and eventual retractions or clarifications. Until we as people change our media consumption habits, the news organizations that continue to rush poorly researched information into the public record will have no reason to change their ways.

Chuck Todd is acting all outraged about “breaking the rules” on the Charlie Rose interview, but I just heard him give the worst, negative report on PBO’s trip. It was all—–much more muted reaction to him this time, they once gave him the Nobel Peace Prize and thought he was the anti-Bush and now no one likes him, no one trusts America any more. I don’t understand this determination to paint our president in a negative light—-a desperate determination. It’s ugly. And I cannot stand Chuck Todd.

PBO, to paraphrase Shakespeare, “bestrides the world like a colossus” and Chuck Todd and others like him are but “petty men below his feet.” They cannot stand it that so many like, love, and respect him; that he is not afraid of them and can barely restrain his contempt for them because of the way they dis-serve the country by not caring out the duties of their profession.

      • 120 HZ
        June 17, 2013 at 7:46 pm

Indeed, CEB. You know these small, low level men and women cannot and will not ever be able to enter into that space that has been created by POB’s parents and grandparents for his core being. Period. Thus this gives them no room to tear him down and this frustrated these little shitheads. Yes, I said it because I mean it.

However, President Barack H. Obama is the President of the United States, and a damn brilliant one, and these foolish shitheads can’t get over it and Never will. So, it gives me great pleasure to know that we worked to elect him in 2008, and then went on to help re-elect him in 2012. And he is busting asses. So our work paid off and will continue to pay off. And the Chuckie Toads will soon be forgotten, and President Barack H. Obama will be in the history of this nation and the world forever. And that is pure beauty to my eyes, heart, soul, and mind.HZ

We Did A Damn Good Job in electing one of the great Presidents in our history, if not the greatest. HZ

Someone should tell Chuckie that President Obama still has that Nobel Peace Prize, and he always will. History will note that Nobel, and everything else that President Obama has done. In fact, there will be a library (or two) in his name for this specific purpose.

Sadly for Chuckie, history will not make note of his existence.

I am blown away with all the hysteria from this NSA stuff.

Even Randi Rhodes is over the top on it, and she’s usually over-informed about stuff.. So much of the press is repeating debunked info, no one seems to understand what metadata even is, most of what Snowdon says isn’t even true – that they can go back in time and all of your communication EVER has been listened to (unless there’s a bug implanted inside my head, I doubt it, considering I don’t only communicate electronically FFS.)

And almost NO ONE is talking about two things that I see as the bigger scandals:

    1. That anyone of Snowdon’s level was given top secret security clearance by a PRIVATE COMPANY. How the fuck did that happen, and how many other people have simply SOLD that same info to foreign interests and made $$$, since it seems to be EASY.

How does that make them any different from Snowdon? Just because he went public does it make it better? Foreign interests still have the data, and he was still paid.

    2. That Snowdon contacted Greenwald and Poitras BEFORE he ever set foot at his desk at Booz-Allen. (And how the fuck did he get that job to begin with.)

The rest seems to be either ignorance in the law itself, that everything was LEGAL – and if that’s a problem, in that you understand FULLY exactly how the technology works, and what/how it’s data-mining, (which seems most people haven’t a fucking cllue, and are taking Snowdon at his word instead of INVESTIGATING….), and once you have COMPLETE comprehension of how it works and why, then let’s have that conversation, without the hysteria, if that’s possible…..

Does anyone really believe their mobile phones and computers are secure? And that 99% of Americans give out their data voluntarily by clicking I AGREE on every user agreement?

HOW DID MY COUNTRY GET SO STUPID????

      Hi our Lovely Tally,

I have been listening to Randi Rhodes for the past couple of days and I am listening to what she is saying and not making any conclusions and I have been reading the comments here, other blogs who have posted other good journalists comments etc.

The one thing about Randi she wants to know the “who” “what” “when” and “how”. From the very beginning she was asking what is this guys motivation? All his reasons seemed shady and keep changing but the one thing he said was, “how can I guy like me get this information”. I agree with Randi that what the real story is, “Why are we giving our National Security secrets to private industry”. This is the big question. Then today she was reading the article the Guardian printed about what the NSA , CIA, FBI, Homeland Security has been doing since post 9/11 to present. IF, and I capitalize IF what she read is true and not researched by real journalist, Private Industry and these agencies have a alliance against the crazy right tea baggers as well as the left agencies such as Occupy Wall Street, ACLU, etc. I find that IF this is true and the BANKS and BIG Business who pay very little taxes is using these agencies to crush any opposition to the way they operate. Friday Randi said that she has been talking about this for awhile…..this is not about Left or Right….GOP…Teabagger…Liberal….this is about Business using our Government against all of us.

This is what I am getting from Randi. She is saying Big business wants to keep their gravy train and have been telling the NSA that “WE THE PEOPLE” will rise up against the government and they won’t be able to handle the magnitude. The NSA is telling the lazy Congress we need more money to keep these people in case it happens. I am not agreeing with Randi or this Snowflake dude because I don’t think he had enough time to get all this information in such a short period of time for a new employee. There is still more to this story and we need to listen with an analytical mind to what this guy is REALLY saying because he wants to puff himself up to be famous yet he has not told us anything really new that we did not already know except that these private contractors suck at what they do.
