‘Knock on some doors, make some phone calls, get Ed Markey elected’

“…. I’ve got to have folks with me who care as passionately about these things as I do. I’ve got to have folks in the United States Senate who are willing to stand up for working people just like I have. I need folks in the United States Senate who, every day, are waking up thinking about the people who sent them there, and trying to figure out how do I make sure that they are getting a brighter future.

That’s who Ed Markey is. I need Ed Markey in the United States Senate.

…. if you work with the same focus and the same passion – if you are knocking on some doors and making some phone calls, if you’re talking to your friends and you’re talking to your neighbors – if you’re talking to cousin Jimmy who doesn’t always vote unless you give him a phone call – if you are making sure that people know Ed Markey’s remarkable record in Congress, then I guarantee you he will be the next United States senator from Massachusetts.

He’ll join Elizabeth Warren. He’ll carry on the legacy of Ted Kennedy and John Kerry. He will be my partner, and we will continue the march forward on behalf of not just this generation, but future generations.”

Meanwhile, give those GOP obstructionists in the Senate who tried to block Comprehensive Immigration Reform some push back:

    Evening all.

Well, I’ve been home all afternoon with pain, so I’ve been away from the computer. Feel a bit better now. Thank you all for your words over my post. But then again, as one commenter who didn’t make it through moderation said, we would all have cheered Musollini in Rome. Because, you know, PBO is a fascist. Is he a fascist or a Communist? The two terms are mutually exclusive.

    • June 12, 2013 at 6:47 pm

Great job on that post, as always. That whole thing made me so mad! Finally collected my thoughts:

“Trust” for a Black woman is not touchy-feely. “Trust” is a luxury item in a different hue. “Trust” is political action. When someone labels who you are as less than what should be needing schooling on proper political etiquette. They need to kiss something…

      Hope you are feeling better.

🙂 Just DM’ed you LL, I have to say I was seriously impressed with our Mussolini friend, it’s always been Hitler comparisons until now, so at least this creature is branching out.

Again, thank you for your wonderful piece, you put in to words what so many were feeling, the hurt, rage and anger at these disgusting comparisons being made by the Greenwald Groupies. You’re a master.

Thank you for your wonderful piece, LL! For some of us oldies who remember the pain and suffering of the people struggling to bring about justice and equality, your words were a breath of fresh air. For those who think PBO is a fascist, communist, Islamist, and Black nationalist, all you can do is LOL. May be the commenter is planning to join the Freedom fighters, Edward Snowden and Glenn Greenwald, in Hong Kong, China- the current bastion of freedom, civil liberties, and open government.

Congratulations, Africa. President Obama keeps rolling. You see–a man who is decent and honest and has nothing to hide does keep going. He continues to walk in the truth. He has so much to get done and he has put the blinders on. Yes he sees the “attempts” and trying to produce scandals but he knows that these fools are grasping at straws. The enemies are on such a slippery slope and President Obama know this. He is so smart. I am sooooo honored that he is at the helm of Command Central. I am in continual prayer for him, his family, his friends, his personal staff and his administration. They WILL prevail. In Jesus Name and with God’s,strong hand and Love. Amen!

So far, other than Snowden himself telling the Guardian about his past, the only verified info on his employment is Booz Allen firing his ass after 3 months. Was he “with the CIA” (or is it contractors who have contracts with the CIA/NSA)?

Has no one made any attempt to verify what this little jerk did and when he did it? This Business Insider story has some verification of his looniness from a number of years ago.

All of the other stuff reminds me of Cheney leaking lies to the NYT and then using them as a source on the Sunday morning talk shows.

Sorry if this has been posted already, but I’ve been down and out with a migraine today and haven’t been able to keep up with comments. Here’s a link to the Facebook page for the Markey/Obama event in Boston; people have posted their pictures and I thought everyone might like to see them:

By the way, the event “sold out” two days ago and even some people who had tickets were turned away. It must have been packed to the gills! In the meantime, Gomez’s campaign kept claiming that there was so little enthusiasm there’s no way the arena would be filled. Gomez is such a creep! He reminds me of a love child between Scott Brown and Mitt Romney. 😛

LMAO! Here’s a question from a recent FOX News poll:

    6. Do you think Barack Obama is better described as confident or arrogant?

    Confident – 42%
    Arrogant – 41%
    (Neither) – 2%
    (Both) – 3%
    (Don’t know) – 1%

Of course we know what “arrogant” REALLY means!!!

VIDEO: Medgar Evers’ widow: ‘Jim Crow is alive…in a Brooks Brothers suit’

On the 50th anniversary of the assassination of civil rights hero Medgar Evers, his widow Myrlie Evers-Williams says segregation has not disappeared.

“Jim Crow is alive, and it’s dressed in a Brooks Brothers suit, my friend, instead of a white robe,” she said on PoliticsNation Wednesday.

Her comments came in response to a question from Reverend Sharpton about the progress she’s seen–and current threats to that progress like voter suppression.

“Look at some of the racist things that are still happening in America,” she said. “For instance when President Obama was reelected there was rioting at the University of Mississippi because of that. There are still deaths that take place. We look at those things that have happened to keep people from voting.”

Just caught a bit of the news tonight about Jeff Flake’s son…it was the first story on the news. People are mad. Seems his son wasn’t content to talk about “Jews” and “faggots”…his FB page also spoke badly about Mexicans. Then he bragged and posted a pic of his senator father and told everyone that was really his dad…you know, like he was entitled because his dad was a US Senator. Flake said he found out about this only today when asked by a reporter about it. This is one of the 8 senators working on immigration reform….I have a problem with this.

Yes, we will continue the fight. Also 57andfemale desertflower, and meta, that is why I often say to our TOD family, ” Be gentle on your spirit.” Carry it close to your being and brush off the dirt and grime of the elements from the haters, walkers and talkers of hate for our POB and those who truly support him daily. Be sure to clean your beautiful spirit daily from these elements. Do Not allow this offensive hate and obstruction against us build up within our soul. Remove these elements immediately. Take the strongest tools of courage, love, compassion, brilliance of mind and deeds to help you get through all of this crap. We still are on this difficult journey, but if POB can move through all the daily crap; we have to take a few pages from his life-book, read it carefully, and move with grace and faith.

Carry your instruments of love, consoling power, and a’ cloth of beautiful humility’ to help each of us to make the finish line for each day. We are so blessed to help POB on this journey. Then always remember to assemble here with our Chips and our TOD Family to lift each other up the ladder of “Yes, We Will Make It” for all those who can’t quite make the climb, but they just need to be encouraged by our actions of Hope, Truth, and Love to take one step at a time to be able to put food on their table, keep up the job they just were blessed to get; help to carry hope in their eyes to give out to their little ones when they look into the eyes of their parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and good-hearted neighbors in the village for that ” I am my brother’s/sister’s keeper”.

That is why we work hard, encourage each other, pray much, cry to ease the pain from within because of how so many are putting obstacles in POB’s path. But we move FORWARD, still.

Thanks Chips, and the entire TOD family who lifts our spirits. So. let us take very good care of our spirits so we can sit and rest and enjoy our gift in our beautiful and brilliant President and his Administration as much as possible each day we are still so blessed to be on this earth. We Will Make It.

((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( Be gentle on your spirit))))))))))))))))))))))))))HZ

NSA and Snowdon should be a non event compared to what the a..holes at the state level are doing to women. Do these guys have wives who believe in such horrors? Does the ACA PAY for such non needed medical procedures? or is the whole idea to insure only the rich can ever have an abortion?
