Joe Biden has always been a friend to and advocate for the working man. We love him and his amazing wife, Jill and their family. And ain’t he cool in those shades!

    • June 8, 2013 at 6:02 pm

      Agree 100%.

      Love Joe.

Dems would be better off seeking out the counsel of someone life Mudcat Saunders to help them in the red states instead of former Hillary supporters who pretty much appeal only to PUMAs and Code-Pinkers.

Dems need a big tent, including “lunch bucket” men and “pink collar” women.

Joy Reid is doing an excellent job hosting the Ed Show! Love that she is pushing back on the BS and bring up points that other MSNBC hosts and contributors seem afraid to say.

How refreshing. A host who did her homework and CHALLENGES BS when she hears it with FACTS.

I think UT said it best in the previous thread:

      >>>>>>>>Michael thought this was Morning Joe where he could spin BS and not get push back<<<<<<<<

    • June 8, 2013 at 6:07 pm

Not watching, but set my recorder for 2 pm PDT after seeing Joy’s tweets about hosting for Ed today.

Based on TOD comments, I’m in for a treat! (Yay!)

This is exactly what MSNBC viewers want, someone who doesn’t wallow in DC echo-chamber CW (conventional wisdom) and pushes back on liars and people with convenient “memories.”

Maybe Joy Reid is Tim Russert’s true successor.

MSNBC if you fail to see this, you will continue to suffer the basement ratings that the emoprogs have brought to you. Did you not pay attention when our President said “We can’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good”?

Joy Reid is brilliant mind. She did a superb job today. I pray that she will get her own show. I loved how she put the small-minded MS in place where his pants had to be on fire. He could not grin his with all of his BS with Joy Reid today.

        Great Job, Joy Reid!!!!!!!!!!! HZ

Gawwwd….Joy Reid is fantastic. She’s calling out cowardly Democrats for not selling ObamaCare and leaving Pres. Obama out there on his own. She called out CBC – Congressional Black Caucus – members for not going into African-American communities and selling ObamaCare which will greatly benefit millions of African-Americans when they know African-Americans are favorable to the law.

Joy Reid: “I look forward to the day Tea Partiers are saying keep your government hands off my ObamaCare.”

Me too…because that day is coming.

She’s phenomenal and doesn’t tolerate BS memes/narratives. That’s why MSNBC will NEVER give her a prime slot. But that’s their loss. Koch Bros $$ can only pay snotty-nosed Hayes’ 7-figure salary with zero results for so long….

      • June 8, 2013 at 6:08 pm

“She’s phenomenal and doesn’t tolerate BS memes/narratives. That’s why MSNBC will NEVER give her a prime slot.” I’ve come to that conclusion as well Hopefruit.

But I also wonder, does she want a show? Is she okay with being a guest contributor and substitute host? Would she have to give up the freedom of straight talk? Would she have to “sell her soul” so to speak if given a program? Has she refused to go that route?

        • 22 hopefruit2
          June 8, 2013 at 6:13 pm

“Would she have to give up the freedom of straight talk? Would she have to “sell her soul” so to speak if given a program?”

swbluega, these are also concerns that I have floating in the back of my head. I cannot help but feel that there will be some “reigning in” if she is given the “privilege” of a permanent slot on MSNBC prime time, or otherwise.

And if that’s the case, then she’s better off where she is and so are we. Let MSNBC’s ratings continue to tank with those who have sold their integrity for money.

        • June 8, 2013 at 6:29 pm

          swbluega, hopefruit2:

Not sure where the Koch brothers fit in, but I’m sure someone at TOD will let me know.

Won’t corporate greed override Kochs? What good is having a network if no one is watching?

Why can’t Joy be both the Tim Russert and the Keith Olbermann of this century’s teens (as in 2013, etc.).

Ms. Yellin, POTUS always work hard, it’s those lazy ass Republicans who aren’t doing a darn thing but cooking up fake scandals. It would be nice to see the reporters work as hard finding those who are leaking that info to that weasel Greenwald, as they are with their claims of being upset.

Perfectly-stated! 🙂 This whole “we hate Obamacare!” BS was the same reaction from many in the GOP with Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid: WAHHH WAHHH! HENNY PENNY! THE SOCIALIST APOCALYPSE! If certain representatives of today’s GOP would bother to do their homework and research United States history (and the Constitution, but that’s common sense/another story), they would realize that these programs were not 100% infallibly-perfect upon conception and passage. It was expected that with general human evolution, particularly in all three branches of the federal government, these essential programs would be adapted, amended, and modified with the times. Hence, the latest concept: Obamacare.

While the GOP is busy with US history, they should take a page from our older — and many times, wiser — cousins in Europe (and in many other global locations as well). They’re not perfect, but in regards to social/healthcare aspects and general infrastructure, they’re actually in the 21st Century. Where are we? :-\

I think the MSM repeated the smears of the GOP who were painting Joe as a goof up gaff machine. Yes, he does say what he believes. That used to be painted as a positive as they do with Chris Christy for saying what he believes. Seems like it depends on whose side the person is on or how much controversy it can generate.

I mentioned before that I’ve seen her on programs where she seemed like she was just trying to get through the segment. Those are typically situations where she is given little opportunity to make points or is cut off. On top of that, she has to listen to the drivel coming from the other guests and the host.

I get that Mr. Matthews is a bit “hardball” and has been in the trenches for quite some time now, but he deserves his due for the most part. I definitely agree about finding a suitable slot for Joy. Since they’re trying to revamp the weekend lineup, maybe she could start there? I think I can speak for the majority when I say having “Lockup” battling it out with episodes of FOX programs may not be the smartest strategy overall (especially with “blue-collar” workers that are on midnight shifts during the weekends).

Matthews deserves nothing – he goes with the flow – always has, always will – a fair weather friend only.

Well, you’re entitled to your opinion of course. 🙂 I like that he’s more moderate-to-liberal on various issues, but that’s just me. I’d also say that his experience in Congress (as with Lawrence O’Donnell) has earned him the right to have a certain vantage-point and perspectives on “good” politics versus “bad” politics (and everything in between). Just my two cents…. hey, I’m watching the news and getting some decent insight…leave me alone lol 😛

On April 15, Rand was standing near the finish line of the marathon waiting for boyfriend Kevin McWatters to complete the race when one of two blasts tore through the crowd. Rand was standing with friend Krystle Campbell, who was one of three people to die from their injuries.

While in the hospital recovering, Rand was visited by President Barack Obama, a meeting that ultimately led to Rand throwing out the first pitch Saturday.

“I just happened to be one of the people that [the President] came to see,” Rand said. “He was great. He came in our room like he was an old neighbor and an old friend and really talked to everybody in the room and was really compassionate about the terrible thing that happened. We mentioned we were coming to Chicago, and he said, ‘When you are out there, we want to make sure you have a really nice trip.’ So that’s how it happened. They followed through, and here we are.”

A bit OT but worth a chuckle or two.

    Why MARRY?

You have two choices in life:
You can stay single and be miserable,
or get married and wish you were dead.

At a cocktail party, one woman said to another,
”Aren’t you wearing your wedding ring on the wrong finger?”
”Yes, I am. I married the wrong man.”

A lady inserted an ad in the classifieds:
    ”Husband Wanted”.
Next day she received a hundred letters.
They all said the same thing:
    ”You can have mine.”

When a woman steals your husband,
there is no better revenge than to let her keep him.

A woman is incomplete until she is married. Then she is finished.

A little boy asked his father,
”Daddy, how much does it cost to get married?”
Father replied, “I don’t know son, I’m still paying.”

    A young son asked,
”Is it true Dad, that in some parts of Africa
a man doesn’t know his wife until he marries her?”
Dad replied, “That happens in every country, son.”

Then there was a woman who said,
”I never knew what real happiness was until I got married,
and by then, it was too late.”

Marriage is the triumph of imagination over intelligence.

If you want your spouse to listen and
pay strict attention to every word you say – talk in your sleep.

Just think, if it weren’t for marriage, men would go through life
thinking they had no faults at all.

First guy says, “My wife’s an angel!”
Second guy remarks, “You’re lucky, mine’s still alive.”

A Woman’s Prayer “Dear Lord,I pray for wisdom to understand a man; to love and to forgive him; and for patience, for his moods.Because Lord,if I pray for strength I’ll just beat him to death!!”

Husband and wife are waiting at the bus stop with their nine children. A blind man joins them after a few minutes. When the bus arrives, they find it overloaded and only the wife and the nine kids are able to fit onto the bus. So the husband and the blind man decide to walk. After a while, the husband gets irritated by the ticking of the stick of the blind man as he taps it on the sidewalk, and says to him, “Why don’t you put a piece of rubber at the end of your stick? That ticking sound is driving me crazy.”

The blind man replies, “If you had put a rubber at the end of YOUR stick, we’d be riding the bus, so shut the hell up.”

    Behind the Obamacare Derangement Syndrome

    By Ed Kilgore

    (3) They’re very worried it will eventually seduce some Americans into greater dependence on government. Scheiber finds derangement in the fact that although conservatives all say they think Obamacare will fail, they are acting as though it must be stopped immediately lest it succeed. I find this pretty natural given the typical conservative attitude towards the psychology of what they consider socialism: it doesn’t work, it isn’t generally popular, but for the weak of mind and spirit, it’s highly addictive. In particular, those people—whether we are talking about the working poor who would obtain Medicaid under the original ACA framework, or those higher on the income scale who would get access to affordable and non-deniable health insurance—the parasites and moral lepers who haunt the American conservative vision of their fellow-citizens, would form additional bonds with Leviathan that would be difficult to dissolve.

Revealed: Letters From Republicans Seeking Obamacare Money

    By Lee Fang

Even before President Obama signed the Affordable Care Act into law, Republicans were vowing to repeal it. It’s no wonder, because polls showed that the basic elements of the ACA were quite popular, and there was a real danger that it would become more so as people found out that the plan denounced as a “monstrosity” by the National Republican Senatorial Committee would not trample on their liberties so much as help protect their health. Desperate to avoid this, the GOP-controlled House has voted no fewer than thirty-seven times to repeal Obamacare in the three years since it was enacted.

Now letters produced by a Freedom of Information Act request reveal that many of these same anti-Obamacare Republicans have solicited grants from the very program they claim to despise. This is evidence not merely of shameless hypocrisy but of the fact that the ACA bestows tangible benefits that even Congress’s most extreme right-wing ideologues are hard-pressed to deny to their constituents.
